What I missed was the Monolithic of Frederique Constant. With 40Hz(!), 288,000 vibration per hour and 80Bps . A glyding second hand. Everything only mechanical!
That Precisionist movement is bonkers. Of all the watches on the list , that movement was the smoothest to my eyes.
An excellent presentation that was really interesting and informative. Videos like this is what helps distinguish you from many other channels. The precisionist movement from Bulova and the electrostatic movement from Accutron are far and away my favorites! The spring drive movement from Seiko is a very close 3rd choice. Very well done!🥃
This is a great video. I've been an enthusiast for about 3 years and have owned a GS High Beat and currently have two 9R Spring Drives. I love them. Also really like the ETA and Miyota 4hz movements. It's always good to have a refresher on what's out there and what I might buy next!
Great explanation and visual. Thanks for making it easy to understand.
Engaging and comprehensive review.
Thanks
From a novice prospective I'd say that's just the kind of video I need to better understand the ⌚ 🌍
Definitely a good starting point for me.
Straight to the point, no fxxxxng around.
Informative oriented.
Thank you very much!!! 🔝🔝 🔝
Thanks for this unique video. I'd love to see a super slow mo of the electrostatic and spring drive.
my smoothest sweeper is my BULOVA ACCUTRON 2 lol
I think its worth to mention a fabulous movement: 40Hz - 288 000 beats per hour -Slimline Monolithic Manufacture, from Frederique Constant
How this was missed I'll never understand..
my Citizen Promaster SSTs have a 1,000 Hz chrono function (both analog and digital).
Great video very informative. I need to get a Bulova Precisionist!
This is something that's always interested me. Thanks for your superb explanation.
That Precisionist movement looks NICE.
I always like educational vids. Thanks.
$5 seiko vh31 is the price performance champion of all times, more accurate than all mechanical movements yet with a sweeping second hand.
Very great video. IMHO there is a missing link : the tuning fork Accutron movement by Bulova in the 60's witch allowed a very smooth seconds hand. Can be seen on Spaceview watches (214) and other Accutron watches (218).
4:15, the text below is wrong. Should be 5Hz, not 6Hz.
Thank you Chris.
Love my grand seiko and it’s beautiful sweep. I forget that I am staring at it often.
Really appreciate American made bulova and their impressive hi beats value for $.
There is an error in the video: 36,000 bph, 10 bph is 5 Hz, not 6.
I have 3 and 4 Hz watches, of course (Seiko, Hamilton, Sellita watches), Grand Seiko Hi-Beat at 5 Hz, and Spring Drive, 0 Hz. I also have standard 1 bph quartz of course, and I just ordered the Bulova Jet Star, so I will soon also have 16 bph. I'll be interested to see how 16 bph compares to Spring Drive. I have almost all the bases covered, except meca-quartz (and some of the more exotic, and expensive, mechanical movements). A variety of movements is part of the fun.
Chris - v interesting run through. I agree that the Precisionist is a great proposition; it’s just a shame that the “design” of most of Bulova’s 262kHz watches is so awful (with just a couple of exceptions). Hopefully, alongside the one you show in the video, they will come out with a few more that suit smaller wrists.
Great video mate. I have just a doubt, wich is the difference between the Precisionist and the Accutron Bulova movements, in terms of beats for second? They seem pretty the same.
I love this topic in horology. Please, don't make this video short. I wolud love to have a glimpse to the other options on the market and vintage market. 😊😊😊
Thoroughly enjoyed 👍 😊
I love this thank you WC
Thanks!!!!
It feels like Bulova is missing such a winner here. They should be ridding the Precisionist movement like there's no tomorrow, and brunch out on their designs. Especially the 39mm form factor.
What brand is that green dial watch?
You are giving us real watch education here. It occurs to me that there's not a lot of justice in TH-cam land; there are other watch commentators - often ill-informed loudmouths - who have more subscribers than you. I guess quality does not always attract quantity.
does high beat mean low power reserve?
You can get a precisionist Bulova watch for way less then the price of what you mentioned. The Bulova lunar Pro goes for around $350 and the precisionist time only goes for less than $300.
My Bulova Jet Star was s great buy!!!
Very interesting, at least to a watch guy like me.
I wish you had been able to squeeze in the Citizen caliber 0100 8,388,608 Hz. as it would have been a good one to end with.
The 0100 has a dead beat and doesn't sweep though
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
Maybe sweep hands are just a way of hiding that your second hand doesn't align with markers on the dial. Can't understand this obsession with sweep hands.
Some of the most expensive mechanical watches still tick once a second
The movement in my Datejust 1601 3235 beats @ 19 ,800 .
I kept thinking of the Go-Gos We Got The Beat .
Vostok is also 19,800.
@@fergfour Thanks don't know that much about Vostok 🙏
From tic toc to sweep....
Great vid! Just wanted to give a shout out to the FP1271 mechaquartz caliber by Frédérique Piguet. No longer in production, but it had 23 jewels and was great to look at. Seiko VK* is the only game in town currently though 🫠
