- Hey ya’ll! Today we went around the small border city of Mission, TX. to see what cool stuff it has to offer if you ever come around.
Contrary to popular belief, this town isn’t just filled with drug smuggling and graffiti, although it may, it is also rich in culture. Because of its close proximity with Mexico, most of the customs here in Mission are very similar with Mexico, so of course that includes great food and music.
The Flea-market or Pulga is a great representation of the shared culture seen in Mission, TX. There was goats and sheep for sale, flavored ice snacks, “chalupa” the Spanish version of Bingo, handmade artifacts, and we even found some musical talent. The Pulga shows how the weekend is spent for many Mission residents.
You can only find a Foy’s Supermarket in Mission, Tx. This small treasure of a store holds a huge variety of Mexican candy. Anything you can imagine is in there. Mazapanes, monedas, lucas, muecas, paletas, and the list goes on! We stocked up on our favorite candies while we were there, not only for us but also to make sure my brother in law who is deployed to Africa gets some. You can’t find this candy just anywhere! Another interesting fact of Mission is how superstitious some of the people are. The candles or “veladoras” shown, depict what some people here, do in their pass time LOL.
And of course religion is a big influence for the culture of this South Texas town. Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is a big emblem for the people down here, since it has stood for over 70 years. It holds regular Sunday mass, just like most Judeo-Christian religions.
If you ever find yourself down in the deep south, we hope you know where to visit now. Don’t forget tiny places are the most closely knit together, and what you may find inside its threads can be surprising.

@@nood1le there is also a building next to McDonald's it's a clinic i think not sure that used to be a movie theatre i remember i saw ninja turtles movie the first part I'm 38 btw... And also that McDonald's has been there for years since I was in elementary used to go there well i still do actually all these memories that i have when I was a kid priceless😊

Yeah, the flea market is awesome. Haven't gone in a looong while, though.
Foys supermarket recently closed down. We used to go shopping there until we realized they were ripping people off. They overpriced a lot of food and items. Supposedly it was cuz the Lone Star Card was the most used form of payment there. $2 bottle of gatorade at Foys cost only $1 at another store. One 50 cent lemon at another place was $2 at Foys. A lot of those Mexican candies were also cheaper elsewhere. oh another reason we stopped shopping there was we found out the meat dept. was very unsanitary. This was even confirmed to us by someone that worked there.

Hey Erika I have a question for You? I'm currently on a couple of apartments waiting list in the Mission area to move down this fall. Have you as a City recovered from the pandemic shutdown? Are your stores currently staying stocked with products? Are restaurants all back open to the general public? And is fuel for vehicles back in Abundance? Just thought i'd ask someone whose currently residing there if You still are? thanks S.r. Nunn

Hello, I see Mission Texas on Live PD a lot on Channel 28 ( in my area ) there are a lot of bad things going on in Mission ?
Hi! Mission, like all other cities has a mix of everything. I wouldn’t say a lot of bad things, they just choose to show those bad parts for views. Overall, it’s a calm place to live in.
Mission native here and Im here to tell you that like every border city, yes crime is present but its not at all rampant. On top of that you're more than likely to be safe from all that as long as you dont get involved with sketchy people. Other than that, you should be alright going through the city.
