Why do some manufacturers put USB ports inside centre consoles, which become useless when you have other stuff inside, particularly full to the brim. Maybe it looks good on paper to say, has an x number of USB ports.
As an American, there are... Issues. Watch that engine, they flatten cams. And the transmission either is perfect ORRR fails. As an owner of that generation. You can't fully disable stability control unless in 4wd. Mine had electrical issues.
Just commented the same. Also we don’t have the dealer networks here for repairs. There are many of these sitting in small towns hundreds of miles away from the cities waiting to be towed to be fixed.
I've owned one for 18 months now and absolutely love it. Poor drivers give this car a bad name by parking it badly. I've never had an issue parking it at coles carpark or malls. Just be mindful of the length and park in reverse where there is empty space behind you and that keeps the nose in the parking spot. I get about 13 to 14 l per km on pretty short runs on a daily basis which i think is really good for what it is. I just wish they came with the optional bigger tank. I agree with the mirror. Looks like they didn't do a swap on that, which is annoying. Android auto is half screen which is annoying as well. Really would love to figure out how to fix that. Heated steering wheel option is on the left side of the screen. Looks like they didnt bother with a software update for right hand drive. I don't have that wobble in my steering wheel. Looks like a conversion issue.
Half screen is an Android limitation, not just in Rams. The mirror is like that so it can tuck in. I would say pretty much everything software wise is fine for RHD? No wobble in my steering wheel either.
It would be cheaper if it came into Australia right hand drive. I just sold mine it was costing me a lot of money for fuel and maintenance. I had the car for 2 years i now have a Mitsubishi Triton.
Great review as always Paul, but I'd rather have the Hilux GR Sport to get me around the suburbs of Melbourne and general car parks. BTW, big respect for your reference to 'Mum'..
I owned a ram 1500 dt for 3 years.. it wasn’t built to last. By the end of my short three years I could see where things were starting to fail. The paint finish is atrocious. The conversion method is questionable. Needs to be revved high for towing. Plastic in the ram box split apart after 2 years and warranty didn’t cover it. Then spots of rust in the doors and around the firewall from where they butchered the car for the conversion were evident. Oh and parts of you need them??? Give it a good 8-12 months. They aren’t built nor supported well enough for the Australian roads. The idea Of owning one is far better then the reality.

Drove a new F150 Ecoboost v6 at Hawaii, so disappointed in how expensive they are here and lack of v6tt EcoBoost, that thing ripped hard and was better on fuel than the heap of shit jeep we had for most of the trip.
Hi, Paul! Do you have dealerships in AUS, that can service the car ? And also, the company that did the steering wheel switch, are they international or only in AUS, cause I think there's also another company like that in the UK, or maybe it's the same company??
Wow. This V8 Dodge Ram is using as much fuel as my New 2023 Subaru Forester. Past year average sits at 16.5 l / 100km 😖. This further convinces me something is screwy but Subaru says it's all fine. Awesome ute and great review by Paul as usual.
Yep something seems sus there my Vf 2013 Sv6 sportswagon 1800kg with 3.6 litre direct injection V6 only averages 10.0 litres per hundred Km. 60 % city and 40% freeway driving or a perfect 7 litres per hundred Km on a long highway run.

4:35 that’s because Americans rate it properly Every dual cab can apparently tow 3.5 tonne for example I’d love to see a STOCK 4 cylinder ranger/ navara/ triton/ hilux Actually tow 3.5 tonne safely and not self destruct Current dual cabs are way overrated for these things so they can slap a number on the brochure and sell

The Australian channels are the only ones giving the lsd equipped Rams the time of day off road. I'm not sure if thats on purpose or if these are just the trucks Ram is giving you guys for testing. In the US people act like you absolutely must have the rear locker or you won't make it down your gravel driveway. Especially when paired with proper tires, the lsd will still meet the offroad needs of the vast majority of buyers. Of course the locker is still better if you can get one with it.
Most of the Rams in the US are sold with an open rear differential. But US buyers absolutely hate buying tires especially at their newfound prices many of them are double what they were before COVID.
@@duramaxadventures5832 Open diff along with the LSD are most common. Based on being a recent Ram shopper myself I can say lots were filled with LSD equipped trucks but finding one on a dealer lot with the factory off road package or back country package that includes the e-locker was just about impossible. Most dealers are ordering them with the LSD with the 3.21 gears.
I’ve got a 2022 3500 Laramie with the Cummins. Absolute beast, will tow anything and an carry 1.7t. Have managed 10.8 litres on a trip down the East Coast of Tassie and as a work Ute it doesn’t use much more fuel than my V6 ranger. Once you get use to the size it’s pretty easy to park and is surprisingly nimble. Have had a 1500 but you had to work it harder to get the same result as the 3500, thus using more fuel. I’d sell the house before I had to sell the Ram😁
It is a nice use, just the price is an issue. I do wish Ford would introduce something similar to the rambox for the Rangers. I would like to see a video comparing all of the utes you guys have in collection. It would be nice to see them all side by side and comparisons of them. Great stuff as always mate
would you get more interior space in a ram or y62 patrol? in the market and need a good amount of space for myself and family ( bunch of tall wide people lol )
From personal experience (I've sat in a RAM). My brother has a Y62 Patrol. The Patrol has much more interior space, not just because it's a wagon, but the rear seat passengers have a ridiculous amount of leg room . The Patrol is also $50K cheaper.
I have a Y62, and my neighbour has a RAM, the Y62 has more interior space. Oh, and we both have them for towing. They’re big, but what we tow is equally big. Just be smart when parking, and there’s no problem. My Y62 is wide, but my Hilux was longer in size.
The bloody android/google maps is like it is in the RAM as it is in my 2022 wrx. Can't be changed OEM but can get a 3rd party wireless adapted that makes mapping about half the screen.
Here in New Zealand ram is come up to be used as a company work truck. which I am excited to see and also that 130mg on the side way is funny it just to show you that ram is good but it not good at control and not equipped with a hill descent control for the body. For 140k truck I will not pick it if I really want a truck that can good off road it's gotten be the ram TRX but if i want to use it for work it will be the 2500 or 3500
The RamBox is what makes it perfect for trades. We've got a crap ton of shoeboxes going up around Auckland. I wonder if Dodge will do what Ford did and create a more base model that includes most of the features in this one but a much lower cost, a headache rack with the ability to add in amber beacons.
@@RedHat2023 hopefully ram works on a hard-core version over this truck and including more features and a big bed if they get that right it will be better than a ford and they should work on a diesel version on the 1500 more power and funny in the weekends

Not just on the RAM its all of the American pickup trucks that are coming into Australia thank you for your review...........
Yeah pretty sure if you're in the US and give a crap about payload, you go straight for the 2500/250 size stuff. Fyi, there's 2 mobs doing the RHD conversions. The Brisbane based mob include a gvm upgrade as standard. The Melbourne mob couldn't give a crap about it.

Go to a busy supermarket and see if you fit in the parking spot. (They hang over past the lines here out into the middle drive lane )
If you want some real fun try a parking garage and see how many times you cross over the lines.... (You need both lanes here to make it around the corners)
@@duramaxadventures5832I would also like to see a test on these, not because I'd ever want one, just because I think they're silly. Flat grill just seems dangerous and I don't see how such a large car can be used as a daily like he said at the start. Thats just my personal opinion, clearly not many other people share as they are so popular in Australia now, but they just don't seem practical to me at all. Just a compensation car imo.
@@CarExpertAusSome sort of psychological test I guess.
Ego vs appendage size vs rate of ownership of these stupid things…
These sort of “cars” are the main reason decades of advances in the road toll have started going backwards.
@froggy0162 can u provide the link to the govt statistics for these trucks causing a bigger road toll?
I have the express crew cab best Ute I have ever owned
Hey Paul - if you are able would you be able to do a review of the current lowest spec RAM? Cheers Greg…
Just wondering if you’re going to or have already done/do a direct comparison test F150 and the Ram
Definitely the best looking of the US utes.
As an American I couldn't imagine trying to tow a trailer with a small car/suv or compact pickup.
the price of these is insane due to the RHD conversion, when Toyota and others start making factory RHD versions, the prices should drop 40k imo.
Why do some manufacturers put USB ports inside centre consoles, which become useless when you have other stuff inside, particularly full to the brim. Maybe it looks good on paper to say, has an x number of USB ports.
interesting process from LHD to RHD. do this coverage
32 missed calls and 53 unread messages on that iphone :D impressive!
I bet the bank owns it! 😂
Half screen is an Android limitation, not just in Rams. The mirror is like that so it can tuck in.
I would say pretty much everything software wise is fine for RHD? No wobble in my steering wheel either.
@wahooshoes8911 it's not an android auto issue. It's RAM implementation of android auto. Other manfactures have done it like the new Ford Everest.
@@VishalPatel-ge3nvfew other makes have the same issue - hopefully they can follow what ford have done going forward
@@billybunter3753
That's the Aussie way.
It would be cheaper if it came into Australia right hand drive.
I just sold mine it was costing me a lot of money for fuel and maintenance.
I had the car for 2 years i now have a Mitsubishi Triton.
Oopphhh that is a big step down as a regular triton driver.
How many L/100km? Or how much to fill tank?
Australia is to small of a market to make from factory.
Not worth it
Paul when are you reviewing the Australian F150
Great review as always Paul, but I'd rather have the Hilux GR Sport to get me around the suburbs of Melbourne and general car parks. BTW, big respect for your reference to 'Mum'..
Be interesting to see one in 6 or 7 years time .. could be a $150,000 new and $30,000 - trade / sale.
They are not too bad, 2019 are fetching $70,000 with around 150K on the odo
I'd give them $15k. And I'm not joking! Even Americans say their big utes are shite!
The idea
Of owning one is far better then the reality.
@@TheIvancigarroyes, modern gas engines have to be revved to make their power so typically when towing you're going to be over 3,500 RPM.
@@duramaxadventures5832 I was glad to see it gone. Back to Toyota.
I'd need to win lotto but if I ever do I would have one of these in a heart beat.
I can only imagine how expensive the Tundra right hand drive will cost. 😂

Drove a new F150 Ecoboost v6 at Hawaii, so disappointed in how expensive they are here and lack of v6tt EcoBoost, that thing ripped hard and was better on fuel than the heap of shit jeep we had for most of the trip.
Who's been calling my Mum?
Me, but she loves it!
So how does it compare to your raptor ranger Poal?
Hi, Paul!
Do you have dealerships in AUS, that can service the car ? And also, the company that did the steering wheel switch, are they international or only in AUS, cause I think there's also another company like that in the UK, or maybe it's the same company??
Walkinshaw do these conversions (this vehicle - there are others that do it too) and plenty of mechanics around besides the absurd dealer pricing.
Mate there's something definitely wrong there. I'd get in touch with consumer affairs
😪😪
Do a Tundra review next 😍
I love the rams . Interior is amazing compairs to the other utes . Only thing that bugs me is usa gets so many more options. Compawir to oz . Would like the spilt tailgate . And australia should bring in gt model as would be nice to have a t bar shifter . Hard to try do a 3 point turn with that shift rotory nob . Great video . Thanks for your full detail
I’ve seen a split tailgate here but I guess it’s because it was a privately converted import?
Ausmv sell the Rebel Gt 2022 model with all the goodies you mentioned
4:35 that’s because Americans rate it properly
Every dual cab can apparently tow 3.5 tonne for example
I’d love to see a STOCK 4 cylinder ranger/ navara/ triton/ hilux Actually tow 3.5 tonne safely and not self destruct
Current dual cabs are way overrated for these things so they can slap a number on the brochure and sell
That logics dumb. What about old 1 tonner holden and ford utes
@@JacobtheunwiseIf it can't do 0 to 60 in a quarter of a mile fully loaded to merge onto the highway it's inherently dangerous.( here in the US)

If you watch the video, the LSD didn't actually work. The diff acted like an open diff when it had one wheel in the air
Heyy paul cant wait foru to reveal the facelifted 2024 dmax
I’ve got a 2022 3500 Laramie with the Cummins. Absolute beast, will tow anything and an carry 1.7t. Have managed 10.8 litres on a trip down the East Coast of Tassie and as a work Ute it doesn’t use much more fuel than my V6 ranger. Once you get use to the size it’s pretty easy to park and is surprisingly nimble. Have had a 1500 but you had to work it harder to get the same result as the 3500, thus using more fuel. I’d sell the house before I had to sell the Ram😁
Easy to park but forget anyone being able to fit into the parks next to you.
There is no need for these things in Australia.
shut uppppppp holy shit@@Mi-ck
@@Mi-ck they can park elsewhere. you don't get to be the judge of that
It is a nice use, just the price is an issue.
More in the Ram & even more in a Silverado
From personal experience (I've sat in a RAM). My brother has a Y62 Patrol. The Patrol has much more interior space, not just because it's a wagon, but the rear seat passengers have a ridiculous amount of leg room . The Patrol is also $50K cheaper.
I have a Y62, and my neighbour has a RAM, the Y62 has more interior space. Oh, and we both have them for towing. They’re big, but what we tow is equally big. Just be smart when parking, and there’s no problem. My Y62 is wide, but my Hilux was longer in size.
i'd love one of these, a pretty good alternative to a landcruiser or patrol
The bloody android/google maps is like it is in the RAM as it is in my 2022 wrx. Can't be changed OEM but can get a 3rd party wireless adapted that makes mapping about half the screen.
A pain, why Android why?
Great review.
I thought I had a good job, you win 👍
A gay friend of mine is after a small truck. I recommend the RAM mainly due to the overall camp/gay design features. He’s a very happy man!
I notice the mirrors are not at the right angle same as Camaro conversions. F150 is done much better.
do the 2500 diesel why dose every one do the povo 1500?
This compared with the silverado AU spec?
When the review of the zr2 and new f150
Driving ZR2 at the moment. So should be in the next couple of weeks. Haven’t been offered an F-150 yet.
This costs how much???
Hi Paul its just adding more money to the price of the pick up by being converted here in Australia and what a waste of materials that do not get reused just get put in the BIN so this why its so expensive and just adds more cost to the price of the vehicle just not my cup of tea at the moment if there start bring them into Australia R hand drive it would be so much better at a selling point of view which would lowest the of the vehicle and would have more sales in Australia. Not just on the RAM its all of the American pickup trucks that are coming into Australia thank you for your review...........
Payload is poor for such a big vehicle
Yeah pretty sure if you're in the US and give a crap about payload, you go straight for the 2500/250 size stuff.
Fyi, there's 2 mobs doing the RHD conversions. The Brisbane based mob include a gvm upgrade as standard. The Melbourne mob couldn't give a crap about it.
I wish we got these in South Africa (Officially).
do ram 1500 limited please
I don’t get the payload Paul. Work that out and you’ll make next level car expert - grasshopper ninja level🤘
Honestly though the payload is taking the mickey. Is it a nanny BS thing from the authorities?? Wouldn’t surprise me if wheeling and dealing was going on behind closed doors to protect other players.
Nice review as always. Can i request a review of the jeep wrangler rubicon? Cheers.
How is this compared to your raptor
Very very few people need something this size
Steering shake is a wheel balance
Big Old Beast!
can you do one on the 2500
If RAM want too sell them here its a pity they dont make RHD version on the production line........Would shave $1,000s off the price of having them converted..No brainer really.
AU is a tiny market and not worthwhile, same goes for Chev, Ford etc. Some dealers in the US alone will almost outsell what they do countrywide here. LHD countries are more than RHD too.
What colour is this car?
Can you please review the Model 3, EQB, and the EQA
Didn't realize it had a darn cinema screen on it's dashboard my god.
My favorite!!!
Shame that the drivers of these are the same people who park in bike lanes and them complain about the size of parking spaces
I dont complain about the size of the parking spaces…..I just use the handicapped space. Its the perfect size and always free!!!
F-150 got em scared. Hence the new reviews for RAM.
Why is,everything in mms To make it sound dramatic ..What about inches
Australia is metric
Help he carwow i mean carexpert
If they ran a straight 6 turbo diesel Cummins l would take one tomorrow, , large petrol engines and australian farms dont mix..
Good for towing a horse float, pretty small tray though considering the size....
Would be great if you could build your configuration like they can in the US - not just for Ram but the other pick-up brands. So limited here.
None of the asian made utes are able to accommodate 3 passengers comfortably in the rear seat. ADR needs an update for ute dimensions
