In the bass fishing world you hear the term junk fishing a lot, but what does that mean? In this world we talk to one of the best in the world about junk fishing and how it can help you to stay consistent out there on the water.
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

My favorite bass fisherman and a good person, Kyle is what every good amateur wants to become. Thank you for having him on your show.
These podcasts are fire. Perfect length as well.
Thanks for the kind words. Ill keep em coming
Kyle is the real deal. ⚡⚡⚡🎣🎣🎣
Junk fishing is the opposite of pattern fishing. You just throw at all the junk on the lake.
The first few bass masters where so cool the way they did the tournaments, imo. Every one had the same boat.
Kyle Welcher is such a great angler. I absolutely love watching that dude fish.
I’m on board with this. Junk fishing to me is there’s no consistent patterns. I’m throwing at everything.
Yeah it’s this in our Opinion. Just hitting every spot without a care on if there’s a pattern on that spot . You are just hitting every available spot that might have a bass on it
This was a great podcast. I agree with Kyle Welcher, I’m finding it’s locking my confidence baits (jig, flat side crank, and NED/drop shot) and hitting the good spots. Combined with what you said about not locking into a pattern once I get bite. I waste too much time forcing a pattern instead of just moving high percentage spot to high percentage spot. Pressure has actually taken effect on the spots I go to where I once was the only fishermen, now if I’m late to my main lake 4 to 6 others have already fished it.
Great stuff as always man, keep em coming 👍
Will do! Thanks for watching
Im hopping on a local trail that Kyle fishes here in the AL/GA area super stoked to likely see him at some point
very informative as always, Tyler!
Bring Kyle back to the channel!!!
Thats the only way I know how to fish. I feel like I'd be cheating myself out of a bite if I don't have 8 rods out. Now the lure selection depends on the season but I always have something tied on and ready for any scenario that may come up. Thanks again Tyler for awesome content and being able to nab Kyle as a guest. says something about you when the reigning AOY takes time for you. Be proud buddy....youve made it
Always a great show 📽🎬, when Kyle is on!..💯% Truly a legit competitor of the sport!..🎣 Not a wonder why he got "Angler of the Year"!..🏆
I love the way his mind works
I could not find where to send you an email for this question that I have. So I hope you do not mind me asking this question here.
I am 50 years young, and I have been largemouth bass fishing since I was 15 years old. I have always gone out on the water, and a Jon boat, and just relax and fished and had a great time.
I would like to transition to doing some small tournaments. How do you transition your relaxed way of bass fishing into a concentrated fast-paced tournament style fishing? What's the best way to start and how to make the effective changes to practice how to successfully fish quicker.
I hope this question made sense.
Learned a new word today. Never heard of riprap. 😁
FFS makes junk fishing the most effective technique. i can imagine the combination is responsible for the increase in new tournament anglers. whether or not in favor or not in favor of FFS, its just the most logical conclusion.
I’m feeling like most days in Ohio outside of the spawn are junk fishing days! 😅
It makes very little sense to throw the same bait all day. UNLESS you’re catching them. If you aren’t moving and changing your presentation odds are you won’t catch them as good. Junk fishing to me is confidence In your gear and the conditions that day. It’s constantly changing. I believe that fall just highlights that as the bass feed up for winter.
You fish tidal?
@@gregc2621 I mostly fish flood control reservoirs and river systems.
Do you fish tidal waters? I’ve never fished them, but I do plan to in the future
What part of ohio are you from?! Im from the dayton area! Ive watched several of your videos and never knew you were from ohio.
Its scary hearing pros saying you're lucky if you get two bites from one bait.
Yea - definitely guilty of getting in a rut and not changing up fast enough. Getting better at moving spots quicker, but not changing methods quick enough.
WE WANT THE FULL LENGTH :(((((
Ohio is a tough place to fish, so junk fishing is the best way . That,s one reason why when we fish good water we catch limits , but finish out of the money.
“Junk Fishing” is seasonal imho . Certain times of the year you know where and on what you’re going to catch bass . Other times it’s a grind and it’s a jerkbait in 1 spot a swimbait in another and so on ( fall is a great example of this for me )
Depends on ares, I have some spots where just 1 rod is throw a frog, swim jig to flippn
