Thanks for sharing this information with all of us. I have drafted my letter and will be sending it out soon. I have already got a verbal agreement from a local business that I had reviewed the letter before sending it out. 😲
Thanks man!! I was able to get together a group of local businesses that paid for my entire tournament season and even some new gear! I was blown away by how happy they were to help. I bought a jersey and sold slots for their logos.
One time we were looking to sponsor some social media influencers who were starting up. Less than 1k following. You'd be surprised at how many of them want the big name vs local/smaller companies. Great content as always!
This is an absolute Golden nugget of information. You went into great detail on how to do it when literally everyone else says to let sponsors find you. My reply to that is they can't find me unless I am visible to them either face to face or some other mode of communication. I'm 62, so I'm not sure that I need to be going down that rabbit hole after a 20 military career and 17 years in education.
Thanks for the video man I didn’t think about hitting up local business I tried just emailing a bunch of fishing brands 20+ different brands and I got 2 to sponsor me This new way might get me more sponsors I really appreciate this 🤙
I wouldn't mind a video about the TH-cam side of it..maybe break down your gear and what you use, what a beginner could use, and how you edit it and anything like that...got a ten year old that wants to really bad, but I have no clue where to even start.
Javeline’s made SUCH a nice bass boat. My father fishes from a 18’ 1998 javelin I believe one of their last years before they sold out, he got it from a widowed wife, came with a 2018 mercury 115hp ELPT 4str - he paid half of the price of the motor for the entire boat- what a absolute steal, and it’s MINT. John Damphier Sr fished north east team bass and was sponsored by skeeter, he ran a car dealership and was THE guy to go to locally, so he had no problems getting a top of the line bass boat for free every year to market and use. As well as other sponsors, can’t wait to get that javelin tho I absolutely love that boat!
I will have to say first thing great educational video I personally and probably won't ever fish a tournament or look to be sponsored but I hope that someone else who watches this is truly inspired to work harder to get sponsorships and can learn from all this even though it's not something I would be interested in it I still enjoyed watching it from start to finish great job and thanks for everything you do for all of us
You’re near Alum? Small world! I’m just south of Dayton. This video is exactly what I experienced. If only I heard this 3 years ago… would’ve saved me a lot of headaches. Great advice man!
One of the best and most valuable explanations of sponsorship I've ever watched. Thanks for this video. So much important information in it and it helps with the jitters of getting started with sponsorship. 👍
You know it's funny to come across this video being I was just mentioning this as part of the problem within the fishing industry as an explanation to why people struggle to get sponsorship. A lot bass clubs like to have that official looking Jersey and of course, what do they do? Cover it with all there favorite companies that they use when they fish. Congrats, you look all official and like your pulling in the sponsor bucks. But what your actually doing is hurting yourself. Why would a sponsor pay for something they get for free. In fact, some sponsors even charge the Jersey makers money in order to be able to use there likeness or brand. Think about that for a moment. You are paying a company to represent them. Seems a little counter productive and here's a cold reality. The big guys get national level exposure all the time. The handy man trying to make a living or hell. Maybe is a guy you fish against and his business is what allows him to fish. You might be advertising his competition all in attempts to look official. You gain nothing and he losing everything.
Please make a video about HOW TO FIZZ FISH. I work for the MLF and do the fish release and you would be surprised on the amount of fish that die just because the anglers don’t fizz
Very good video! A lot of people go to a company and says hey you want to sponsor me? And they don’t have a clue. I have found that if you use a company’s product for a time and you have a reputation with them, they will be more likely to sponsor. Always have a fishing product company but endemic companies are also a big part of your marketing. More people know these companies than fishing products. There is a definite mix that will produce the best results. Thank you for your valuable advice!!
I’ve been picking my brain on how to get a return on our investment between tournaments and time on the water for social media content/lives. We are newer to socials and our following is still micro. Affiliate offers from our trusted brands has been amazing being this size, but what we make doesn’t even cover the lunch I pack yet. I Never thought about starting local. I’m so glad I found this video on my search and I’m not even half way through it. Thanks for posting this info.
I am part owner of C & G fishing and outdoors and I have been trying to get AFTCO to sponsor me and favorite fishing too get sponsorship and abu also but no luck
BFHQ, This is extremely informative on this video. Let me ask you coming from a non-tourney angle who is interested in sponsorship, would this apply to an angler of that caliber?
Hey im a 17 yr old going for national fishing same story as you i got a possible sponsor im seeing him in 3 days to talk about the sponsorhip ill give you an update about it
I love your videos! I don't even fish with bait casters (I'm a fly angler) and your videos are super helpful. Floatnfly and streamers for life! Tight lines!
Man a lot of the low end pros don’t really make any money they have sponsors and such but if they don’t cash a check they don’t make nothing. 45-70k a year ain’t no money. They payouts back in the day was way better than now.
stupid question but you think this would work if you weren't a highschooler? asking for the guys 30 to 40 range I know we can all provide value for local businesses I know a lot of businesses do sponsor kids sports like highschool jr high in their fundraisers by buying chocolate or buying raffle tickets
My dude I need help I'll be the 2nd hawaiian with any bass credits and I wanna become a menace I'm waiting for my native titan X 12.5 I'm just starting my channel now and am just about done aquiring all my recording tools I still need a few more things but I am making steps towards it and racked up quite a bill doing it but that's the sacrifice we all make to invest in ourselves 🤙🏽♾️☯️🙏🏽 just gotta keep swimming 🐟😂
Excellent video. Thanks for the ideas. I'm at 1600 subscribers and want to grow. My job pays the bills. I'd love to fish more tournaments and more overall sponsorship would really help as I've only made $400 off TH-cam. Hopefully someday I can fish for a living, maybe guide, tournaments, and TH-cam $. Right now fishing only costs me $. I love your videos and this is probably my favorite channel. Mostly a crappie guy and definitely learning more about bass. Thanks
I think that once an angler gets to an elite level, they already have many big name sponsorships and at that point through networking and marketing they are able to get enough funds from sponsorships to cover their very large entry fees, gas, tackle, etc for tournament like the elite series.
I stopped watching at just past 5 minutes when you said for the 47th time that you were gonna tell me how but still hadn't said ANYTHING. You gotta learn how to get to the point instead of just wasting time to make your videos longer.
@Toddcastledine also just put out a great video on marketing. Paul Bourcq from Black Rifle Coffee takes a deep dive into marketing perspective of a sponsor and Thank you for the information Ty!

Keep pushing out for those smaller channels and people with a little followers! Not everyone is like them.
I’ll take a sponsorship lol

I agree that would be a great video
I have to admit you produce some of the best videos out there, very good information for both local companies and local anglers, thanks

You’re killing it brother!
4:42 Social media is the future, your exactly right! I want to help make a difference in this sport/hobby. I'd love to talk to you about our concept.
Great info. Hopefully I'll see you at one of our local lakes here in Oho.
What about the financials, do you need an LLC, pay taxes, 1099, etc?
Great point behind the local TH-cam direction. That is a perfect match.
Thanks for the insight
I feel like somebody latched onto this video for marketing’s sake, because TH-cam was blowing me up with ads. 😂 Thanks for laying out a usable system!
This is a very well put together video. Thank you for sharing.
Wow Tyler fantastic content
Thay you so much for sharing this information 👍

Best thing I've watched in a while...good job.
I think this video you made speaks volumes of hiw great a oerson you are. Thank you.
Knowing the guy a little bit I can attest he is a heck of a person
If you want to sponsor a fisherman just to push your product. Gear, tackle and whatever else . Im here for it.
Do you have a template of that letter you were talking about that you could share?
BFHQ,
This is extremely informative on this video. Let me ask you coming from a non-tourney angle who is interested in sponsorship, would this apply to an angler of that caliber?
As long as you have something to provide it doesn’t really matter what you are doing. In the case you might want a social media outlet like TH-cam
@@BassFishingHQ so providing something would is “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” kinda thing

I need sponsors for Garmin LiveScope. How would you go about this?
What do you have to offer them?
Id watch the hell out of some footage of you actually on the water fishing while talking like this btw
Great video, really good information. Most people don't now where to even start, and now they do.
Just think how many guys are going to be asking their dentist for live scope this week alone 😂
Hahahahahahhahaha
😂
And get a bottle of Mouthwash.. 😂😂
Always start local!

100% it’s all about the value you can provide

Your brother's mom LOL
What up from Ohio
Yeah but it cost $43k just for entrance fees for Elite tournaments
Very true. I wonder how much anglers at that level bring in, in sponsorship money, and how much they pay out of pocket.

If you are in elite series tournaments and don't have sponsors yet... You have done something extraordinarily wrong.
