    I own something similiar like to toguard mirror, the only issue is when ur driving with split screenis that rear camera is on the right and the front cam is on the left. The better way is have the split screen switch sides for better focus on the road.

    Update, I gave up on Vantop Mirror cams. I have just went thru the 2nd replacement. same issue, the USB mini power port at the top of the unit warped in the summer heat. Resulting in no power to the unit. It is an issue they have not fixed. Went with a WolfBox unit and well see how it holds up... The G910 Wolfbox unit has a USB-C power port and Caps as opposed to lithium batteries

      Yep same here David, and I just had another one failed, different brand but same issue here th-cam.com/video/GQZne5fsWw0/w-d-xo.html I'm also now running a Wolfbox now, so far no issues but will update this comment if something changes. And congrats on your new G910 (I haven't tried that model but I may need to add to my list of dash cams to review, list is getting longer by the day! LOL) Cheers!

    Great video. Extremely well narrated. I actually have the 610 and now want to upgrade to the 612t. I am a little hesitant, since they will most likely come out with a 4k front and back model like you described at the end of the video. A few things I think are important to mention that wasn't included in the review are: 1. When using the mirror as a mirror (screen off), you lose the ability to adjust the mirror to reduce glare (bright headlights of cars behind you) at night unlike the factory mirror. 2. When you are reviewing saved videos, there is no way to mark the individual clips to "lock" them so they won't be overwritten. I realize that you can hit the lock button to have a similar result, but that only locks a 20 second clip.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kyle! yeah I can't wait for a dual 4K mirror dashcam, I'm guessing the limitation will be writing so much data to a single SD card, so I think when they do come out they will dual SD cards as well. Will keep you posted if I do review something like it and thanks again for watching!

    Do you know if this has an internal battery that will allow any recording without using a hardwire kit (thinking of while the car is off and in parking mode)? I have seen some reviews that say it does, but others say it does not. I have seen reviews that say the hardwire kits sometimes drain your car battery b/c they don't always detect the voltage drop correctly, so I'm considering having this one installed w/ the cigarette lighter adapter only, but didnt know what I would be missing if anything by going that route. Also thinking of having it installed without tapping into the reverse lights if it's easy enough to show reverse manually. Thank you for the awesome reviews!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you John! Regarding parking mode, yes it does have a built in battery which should be enough to capture a few incidents but to get the best performance from parking mode a hardwire kit is always recommended. Now be careful when selecting a hardwire kit, some only offer overcurrent protection and no low voltage cut off. And some more advanced one offer both and also the ability to select at what voltage level it should cut off at (reviews on this ones coming). About the reversing lines, yeah I didn't connect mines but the only way to get the lines to come up is by connecting the extra wire. I really hope we will see a dashcam in the future where you can bring up the lines manually for the folks that want them you know. Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!

    Great video. Your video finalized my decision on which cam go get. I installed it on my car. I love it. A few questions tho. I have it hard wired into my fuse box. But it will not turn off when I turn the car off. I have to manually turn it off. And even then sometimes it turns back on.
    And sometimes times it will just randomly turn off as tho the screen saver is on. I tap the screen and it comes back on. And sometimes the time will randomly be an hour off. Any ideas on why it may do theses things. Thanks.
    One last thing. It will randomly get that yellow recording line on the bottom.........THANKS

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad to hear it helped Chase! Regarding the hardwire, I used the Vantop Kit VH9 to connect mine, not sure if you are using this kit? One thing that happens often is switching the power wires, the constant wire (yellow) needs to go to a source of power that is always on and the switched wire (Red) wire needs to go to a source that only has power when the car is on. I would double check with a voltmeter if they are connected to the right fuses as this will confuse the camera and may act strange somewhat like what you are describing. Also double check for a solid connection, it sounds like there may also be a possibility of a intermittent connection, some times the tap a fuses are too short and barely make contact. Hope this helps and please let us know what you find bud!

    • @AlexAutoFun

      Hi Vlad! Thanks! ah yes regarding 4K recording, yep it generates lots of heat, you can feel the mirror feels hot, reminds of my GoPro when I record on 4K. I think if you have no need for 4K the H612 should be more than enough. That being said what most people do if you are looking for the highest possible quality, we run the H612T but at 2K resolution. For some reason It seems to have an edge over the H612 for clarity, small though, so I would go for the H612T if price is not an issue or H612 if you don't need that extra fine detail. Hope this helps bud!

    I'm on the brink of purchasing this. I have a question though. My concern is with the recording when the engine is off and my car is parked somewhere. Lots of car break-ins in my city. Will the cameras continuously record if I go with the hardwire route because of the constant power source? Or is it one of those motion sensor or impact sensor type cameras? I'm hoping to buy a product that has motion sensors that can record if someone is walking past my car without necessarily touching it (to record suspicious activity).

      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Mukul! Yes I installed it inside using the included double sided tape but I have learned a couple tricks to get the tapes to best adhere. I clean both the bracket and the surface I'm sticking it to with alcohol. I apply it on a warm day or I apply some heat to the tape and surface I'm sticking it too with a hair dryer to get the glue to activate better, and finally after sticking the camera I hold it against the surface with some force for about 30 seconds to help it bond, hope this helps bud!

      Thanks Just Raph! Ahh that is actually very common with mirror dash cams (which are my favorite type but definitely not for everybody because of this characteristics) I recommend taking a look at the night footage in my mirror dashcam reviews on my channel under the playlist "dashcams" to compare video quality so can see if any of them look better than the current one your are trying before you order the next one. For glare I typically aim my mirror dash cam down towards the seats and some mirror dash cams do come with a glare reducer film that also seems to help (however both solutions assume you will use the LCD panel on all the time, not as a regular mirror). I noticed that too after installing it, the image is mirrored just a like a normal mirror, this at first I thought it was a little strange as why they went out of their way to flip the image. Then I realized that this is likely because some emergency vehicles like police/fire department/ambulance sometimes have letters in the front that identifies them and those letters are mirrored so when they are seen by our rear mirror the letters can be read. I image this is the reason this LCD mirror simulates the real mirror, safety and probably legal purposes, hopes this helps bud!

    Update: after two weeks, I’ve discovered that the mirror itself produces a MHz frequency that interferes with the frequency that the factory tire pressure sensors use on my ‘12 Ford Flex. Worked fine when backup cam was inside the cabin, but causes interference after I tapped the brake light wire and routed camera through the bumper over the license plate
    2 week review: Its....ok. My biggest complaints:
    1. LCD display fps sucks, when compared to "real life" mirror. This is obvious, but you don't realize it until you've installed it and used it. Its impossible to tell the speed or distance is of the car behind you.
    2. Depth of view. I didn't realize how tiring it would be to constantly adjust my eyes 20+ yards, to 2ft away focusing on a small screen image. This will exhaust your eyes.
    3. Reverse signal cable is way too short. No way to utilize the necessary "full backup" view unless you tap the reverse light wire. So you either have to buy more wire and make an extension yourself, or you have to mount it within a few feet of the reverse light and use a T-Tap which isn't included on this pricy dashcam.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ryan! So far all the mirror dashcams that I have reviewed have a max frame rate of 30 fps. But I will let you know if I do test one with higher frame rate as I'm always testing new dash cams. Regarding the size, there is a slightly larger one, here is the review for it th-cam.com/video/dVcfFVLCXbY/w-d-xo.html in case it helps. For backing up, I actually always run mine with the rear view so I didn't have to hook up the red wire but I'm in talks with some manufacturers for development of new dashcams and I have pointed this out as a big plus, if they could add a button on the screen to manually turn on the reverse guidelines manually for those of us who don't want to connect the red wire or extend the length of it. I got several dashcams I'm working on right now stay tuned hopefully they will help in your search for the best dashcam out there and thanks for watching!

    What can you tell me about how your field of view out the front of your windshield with a significantly larger rear view "mirror" after installation? I've got a little Chevy Sonic Hatchback, so generally it's comparable to your hatchback, but the cars are of course different.
    I haven't measured the width of my standard mirror, but it looks to be about 9" I'd say. It's got the emergency call button on it, but I don't use the service, I'd rather have the dash cams.
    Anyway, thanks much for the reviews, and I appreciate your patience in answering a few questions.

      @AlexAutoFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mr. Tombo! you can get an idea of how wide it is at the 4:45 mark. It's a huge difference, I honestly can't go back to a regular mirror now. There are a very small amount of people that do prefer a narrow view instead of a wide angle view (since the angle changes the view perspective, the objects appears differently as far as distance) I adjusted to the view right away but like I mentioned, there is a very small percentage that can't switch from narrow view. Hope this helps and glad to hear the reviews are helping!

    Just got and installed it. Did not hard wire as I have a back up cam. Not bad. Do get a double image from the mirror when rear cam is showing. Will try to dim it a little to see if that helps. I have a f150 so rear window mount took so doing. Did double sided tape with glue to hold it in place. Would love to see a future version with rear cam mount flat and can articulate the cam head. So far so good

      @AlexAutoFun  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome Vincent! I also installed my rear camera with the included double side tape, which I prefer over drilling holes. I been experimenting with mine and I found that I could eliminate almost all reflection from the rear by pointing the mirror down towards so It reflects the rear seats or interior more than the outside and with the brightness at max (I aim the mirror with the screen off) then when the screen is on I can still see the back but with minimal reflection from the outside light. Maybe that will help my friend!

      Hi Oscar! here is another video I made showing the rest of the features including the display icons th-cam.com/video/71-UATzkPT0/w-d-xo.html in more detail but yeah as shown in the video, red means is recording, yellow means it's "locking a video" the reason you see it when your are not touching the dashcams is that the dash cams is sensing an "accident" I cover this on the video I linked so you can adjust the G sensor to proper level. I bought this mirror based upon your review. It works really well and the night vision is great. However due to the high heat environment of Arizona I have found (much to my disappointment) that the mirror often malfunctions when the car has sat in the sun for just a few minutes. I even use a heat reflector in the windshield to no avail. I have to disconnect the mirror and place it in front of the AC vents to cool it off if I want to use it. It's rather annoying to have to do this at every startup.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Morgan! Wow you know I heard the sun can be pretty brutal down in Arizona, last time I visited I remember my car's AC was struggling to keep up. Hopefully once the temperatures come down it won't give you as much trouble but in the meantime try running it with the display off and at 2K max resolution (I run mine at 2K) this may not fix the issue but may help keep temperatures down. If I do run into other dashcams that can perform in extreme weather temperatures I will let you know bud!

      Hi Silver Apple! ah good questions. You will a need a memory card, the hardwire kit is optional. This is the one I'm using amzn.to/2FUFJuz Regarding the install process, you can see it at the 2:54 mark using the cigarette light adapter, it's not as involved as the hardwire method. Here is a video where I show the hardwire process in case you are curious on it th-cam.com/video/zbxYA4VhuT8/w-d-xo.html and here is another video I made showing another way to install it without hardwire but gives you the discreet look th-cam.com/video/YEklm9V6xYE/w-d-xo.html That being said if you don't want to tinker with the install and don't mind paying extra for install, I heard quotes as low as $59 and as high as $200 for installation. Hopefully this helps and thanks for watching!

It means, if my car is parked somewhere, i should be able to logon from any where to view it through integrated APP. (2). Inner camera for viewing inside the car will be a very good one. Assuming someone attacked the car when the owner was absent, to steal something inside the car, there is no way to trace that. it will be of great help to have a camera inside.
