I have a master list for breakfast, lunch, dinners, deserts and snacks. I have a master inventory list. I plan my meals around these using grocery sales as fillers. I try to incorporate a new recipe every 2 weeks. This helps me keep things healthy, affordable and tasty.
I only do dinner plans cos me n my daughter both get up at different times cos of my work an her college so we don't really see each other through the day til evening so we just both grab whatever is there!
I just did a freezer and pantry inventory last weekend. My mom taught me how to shop and meal plan this way a long time ago. She was one frugal lady! She also told me one of the hardest jobs a women has to do is decide what to cook every day! She wasn't kidding! Our ads come out on Wednesday so I meal plan from Thursday to the following Wednesday, always write it down on a sticky note and put it on the fridge. I look at my inventory list, pick meats and items I have in the pantry and make the meal plan. Then I check the recipes and make sure I have all items on hand to cook them. I only put on the shopping list items I don't have on hand. My weekly grocery list is usually those items and the good lost leader items that I buy along with perishable items like bananas that you have to pretty much buy weekly. Then when I get home from a busy day at work, I am confident that I have everything I need to make dinner! Wednesday night is always leftover night, which is sometimes a smorgasbord but no food goes to waste at this house. If we have eaten all the leftovers, then I pull out a homemade pizza from the freezer on Wednesday night. I make them six pizzas at a time, so always one available.
Hubby and I are both diabetic so meals get a lil tricky on a budget but we usually do eggs for breakfast with a half serving of oatmeal or grits. Lunches are our "big meal " and this week we are having Tuscan chicken with Brussels sprouts and farro, another day we are having cabbage casserole with pork chops, another day we are trying a new recipe for acorn squash stuffed with a meat raisin and cranberry stuffing, and another day we will have baked chicken with bacon wrapped green beans. For suppers we usually eat leftovers in smaller portions or something simple like egg rice. I do find that planning and shopping sales is definitely helpful in keeping cost down despite inflation. Thank you for such a wonderful channel❤
🛑 Little tip You can hack lasagna noodles to be No Boil... Just soak them in hot water for a bit like 15min or so, add a little bit of EXTRA water to the sauce so it can finish cooking the noodles!!! No need to purchase the more expensive no boil and it saved so much time and extra work 😁
Grocery store isn't in the budget this week so I'm pulling from the pantry, freezer and fridge. Here goes: For our family of 3, 1st day, roast beef (sliced and with gravy), mixed veggie, biscuits, 2nd day, made a large crock pot of beef stew from leftovers from day 1 (also put in drop dumplings), 3rd day, Leftovers overs of beef stew were made into 2 single crust pot pies (one for us and one for my daughter and her family) also made homemade apple sauce from apples that needed to be used, Day 4, very busy day, had chicken nuggets and French fries in the air fryer, Day 5, Hot ham and cheese sandwiches ( my husband and I split one) and apple slices, Day 6, one pound of ground beef from freezer was browned and added it to a pot of chili served with corn bread, Day 7, pulled some cooked chicken and broth from the freezer to make a chicken and stuffing casserole, served with green beans, made a orange-vanilla pound cake from scratch for desserts for the next few days as well. Haven't been to the store for a week and a half now, but alas, we are now out of milk and eggs so I am planning a quick needs only trip tomorrow. Blessings!
I love, love, LOVE my foodsaver! 💘 I can divide up and freeze my big food hauls quickly (either cooked or fresh) and have the basis for meals for weeks! I tend to double bag them so no freezer burn. I make 4 cup size sealed packages and then put them inside a labeled gallon zip lock bag.
It's actually smart to have some prepared food in the pantry for emergencies and unexpected guests. You can often doctor them up to make them your own.
I cooked a whole chicken in the crockpot with vegetable scraps that I had saved in the freezer, bay leaves, thyme, peppercorns and 2 T of vinegar and filled to the brim with water, and cooked it overnight. It gave me 7 pints of chicken stock, and 5 cups of chicken. I am making chicken vegetable soup, white chicken chili, chicken soft tacos, stir-fry with chicken and vegetables and the rice made with stock, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, and lastly fried rice flavored with chicken stock. One bird and many meals.
Rice freezes very well. I make a lot at one time and portion it by cups. Great for casseroles, soups, stir fry etc. Saw that frosting! Melt one of those 45 seconds, add a jar of peanut butter melted 30 seconds, blend , pit in buttered 8x8 pan and chill 6 hours or overnight and you'll have delicious peanut butter fudge. Makes a great holiday gift. Chocolate frosting will work as well. Meals: cashew chicken, tortilla soup, stuffed peppers, egg salad with veggies , salmon patties with green beans and pineapple souffle' plenty of leftovers.
I try to keep a list of quick and easy meals. Many I like to use a few days later, and add to, my son calls it a hodge podge. Chicken tacos, and Spanish fried rice, 3 days later becomes chicken rice casserole, by adding cream of mushrooms, and Rotel tomatoes and chedder cheese to the too.
I usually cook for most of the week on Sundays. So this week I made a big pot of chili and chicken soup. If I get tired of eating the same thing, I put what is left in the freezer and pull out something from my stock pile of meals in the freezer. It is just me and I don’t mind eating the same thing for two or three days. Saves me time and really has been good for using up everything.
Meal plan Tonight : chicken stuffing casserole Wednesday Spanish lentil soup Thursday couscous with veggies and pineapple salad ( all from other meals) Friday French bread pizza ( left over bread ) Saturday Salmon cakes Sunday from the freezer pasta bake
Today is monday - left over chowmein, Tuesday - spaghetti using a broth based home made tomato sauce from the freezer, wednesday - bread rolls in the freezer with home made pumpkin soup, with any extra veg I need to use up and freeze the leftovers 😊

Our kitchen is being remodeled and currently we have no access to our cook top, sink or dishwasher but this was preplanned so I’ve been cooking ahead and freezing. (I have access to a microwave, toaster oven, crock pot and our wall oven.). Our meals for the next several days are: leftover ravioli; leftover Sunday roast with veg and mashed potatoes; Aldi pizza; tuna melts with veg and oven fries; meat loaf and baked potatoes; vegetable soup; black bean soup. The biggest inconvenience will be doing dishes in our laundry room. I bought paper plates and plastic silverware to ease that burden, though. Have a great week!
I saved the last couple of servings of your fabulous Sunday sauce in the freezer. I got home at 615 threw it into the microwave and boiled some water while we had salad and dinner was over and cleaned up by 7pm. We then relaxed in front of the fire for a while. My goal tonight is to throw a load of laundry in the washer and then continue to relax until the season finale of The Handmaids Tale. When it’s over Hulu gets canceled! My plan for dinner over the next few nights is to eat out of the freezer. We have leftovers in the freezer for the next few nights. Chicken Soup, beef stew and some delicious garlic and rosemary pork loin with a side of mashed potatoes. Later this week I’ll be looking for sales on fresh turkey. Bon Appetite!
Homemade pizza with spinach salad - Breakfast (pancakes, bacon & egg) for dinner with a fruit salad - Salmon with rice and salad - Chicken enchiladas from frozen chicken, rice, beans & whatever else I find (enchiladas or burritos are a great option for cleaning out your freezer of odds and ends) - Chicken & turkey sausage gumbo with homemade bread - Grilled cod with red potatoes and raw vegetables - Beans & rice with either fruit or vegetable.
I plan meals ahead in my head, subject to change if I don’t feel having what I plan. I take meat out a day or two in advance. Tonite we’re having an Italian casserole, tomorrow salmon in the air fryer, and chicken enchiladas on Thursday. I do “no cook Friday” most weeks to give myself a day off.
Can you please tell me I love salmon I want to make it in my air fryer convection oven. I'm afraid to because of the smell fish leaves. I can't clean the "oven" as you can with those small basket types. I don't want my cake, bread's etc smelling like fish 🐟 Any suggestions,? Thanks
@@nevermind7253 I have the air fryer toaster oven combo too. I just spray everything with dawn powerwash after cooking the salmon and don’t have a problem.
Your dear puppy is so sweet! Now that I am retired and home each day, meals are so much easier (and healthier) than when we were both working full time . For this week suppers will be Monday - Turkey Fricot Soup ( 🦃left overs from turkey dinner) , Tuesday -Salmon Fish Cakes with tartar and salad, Wednesday -Red Pepper Pasta using chicken sausage (WW recipe) Thursday- the same as it makes a large portion, Friday - Nacho Night Saturday- Burgers and Salad Sunday- Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs in the crock pot served with rice , and frozen veggies . Sure hope you guys are doing okay . We missed hearing from you this week🥰
This week I’m making pork chops, homemade macaroni and cheese with garlic green beans and bread, naan pizza, lentil curry with garlic naan, white bean chicken chili, and spaghetti and meatballs.
I also have a master list for breakfast/lunch, although lunch is usually leftovers. Dinners this week: Zuppa Toscana and biscuits Roast chicken, stuffing, potatoes, Brussels, and apple crisp w/vanilla ice cream (big Sunday dinner) Fried flounder, potatoes, green beans Chicken tinga (taco Tuesday) w/avocado salad Make your own Sushi bowls Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and salad Grab and Growl (leftover night) I have a family of 5 and some picky eaters ❤️
Love this channel! I was ecstatic that last week my local store had loss leaders of flour/sugar - brown and regular and powdered at 0.98! Limit of four each so I bought all I could! I’ve always bought huge packages of meats and immediately put them into smaller freezer bags. I’m a stocker upper 😊 I still have potato soup left over. 5# package was 2.14 😮 prices here in Montana are generally much higher so paying attention to the loss leaders and just buying those was a lightbulb moment! Made crockpot taco chicken for taco bowls. Super yummy! I think I’ll make a lasagna casserole. I have the ingredients to make your tuna olive pasta dish. I always keep carrots and celery and lettuce cut up so making a salad is super easy and we are much more likely to eat it then. Waiting on my beef from the butcher and none has been on sale so we have been mainly having chicken dishes. Use what’s on sale right 😊 hope everyone has a wonderful week! Hugs and love 💗
I’m in Montana too-yes our prices are higher here-except on potatoes. It always shocks me what parts of the country pay for potatoes lol. They are around $2 for 5# here right now, and that is so expensive to me. Hoping to pay that, or less for 10 lbs this month.
I freeze leftover anchovies. I just lay out a sheet of plastic wrap, put 2 or 3 anchovies down, leave a space and repeat until I’ve used them all in. I then wrap the plastic wrap tightly around each group, cut them apart and fold the ends over to seal them (that’s why I leave space between each group). I put them all in one zip top bag, label the big bag, and put it in the freezer. The next time we have a recipe that calls for anchovies, I just take out one package to use and stick the rest right back in the freezer. No waste!
Just an idea, when I’m in a store for loss leaders, if I can fit it in my budget I REALLY try to buy one or two things that aren’t on sale, but are not outrageously priced. Even if it’s just bananas and a box of pasta. A lot of mom and pop grocery stores are struggling. They didn’t cause the inflation but they are suffering the consequences as well. Figure if we can support them a little bit, they can keep offering great loss leader prices? Just an idea 😃😃 Love your haul! Not wanting to sound critical! You guys are great! Just an idea for anyone if it’s an option occasionally
Meal plan? Sort of... lol I do rotate favorite things as I get the druthers. : ) Suppers go like this....Yesterday: Baked Potato Night, baked potatoes in instantpot with Amy's black bean chili I had froze as a topping. Side of Cauliflower Steaks baked with olive oil and garlic powder, salt, pepper. Today: I took out some of my New Orleans Creole Red Kidney bean soup and made buttered brown rice. The recipe is on the back of Cammelia brand Red Kidney bean bag, I use Italian sausage tofurky instead of the meat and add collards. Delicious! Tomorrow: Probably taking out a frozen bag of my Italian split pea soup. What makes it Italian? I add some good pasta gravy to it, and make sure it's a bit brothy, not a glob of green peas, more an Italian soup. (no carrots) Serve it with pasta. Thursday: Will take out a giant casserole dish of eggplant like my grandma made. I oven fry it in olive oil and typical seasonings, no breading and bake it again in pasta gravy. Serve that with pasta. Friday: Will get a bite to eat out for lunch for a date day and eat leftover pasta for supper. Saturday: We usually make a point to have a special 40s movie picked out, so it's pizza night! Hubs makes his traditional frozen Sams wholesale pizza and I do my trader joe's gluten free pizza crust, we decorate them together and I usually do a side of frozen broccoli with olive oil and garlic powder etc. Sunday: Lunch out, simple restaurant, order at the front, popular landmark, old Greek restaurant in the museum district in the city...Supper will be scrambled eggs and toast usually. Grits if I have extra energy...Hahaha. I have a lot of frozen things here, I'm trying to clear my freezer out a bit so I can put some Thanksgiving things in there. Lunches are usually a scrambled egg sandwich or veggie sandwich, maybe leftovers from previous supper. Well, that doesn't look like a meal plan does it? Kind of like in the old movie, 'Marty'..."She don't-a look-a-like no Italian girl?" Well, if it's one thing I've figured out, I'm not to the point, I like my descriptions and hope you don't mind. : ) At one time I typed 70 words a minute, never left me. : ) If you were to meet me you would see I'm actually rather a soft spoken sensitive soul but I do laugh loudly. Take care, y'all are a joy pill. *big smile*
Hi I live London UK our meal plan was Sunday 6th was a roast pork dinner with roast potatoes veg Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Monday was kebab from the local takeaway. Today was chicken fajitas. Wednesday will be chicken and dumplings. Thursday a mince beef and mixed veg hotpot. Friday fish and chips and on Saturday a homemade chicken jalfrezi curry with rice and naan bread.
Tonight we had a frozen pizza that cost 2.99 and tomato salad. Tomorrow broiled cod fish with fried potatoes and peppers. Thursday lamb chops mashed potatoes and canned corn. Friday fried basa fish, homemade coleslaw crinkle fries. That’s all I got so far. Have a great week ❤️
Good haul. Emme, my comment did not take again a couple of weeks ago. I said, Safeway had Challenge butter for $1.97/lb. I went on the Challenge website and got their coupon for 50 cents off. Safeway doubles manufacturer's coupons up to a dollar. I ended up paying 97 cents a pound for butter!!
You're so right about having particular meals on particular days making meal planning easier. For Example, every Wednesday I make tacos. Every Thursday in the summer I make entrée salads and then in the winter on Thursdays I make soup. On Fridays I make some kind of fish, usually sauteed, and every other week I make salmon patties. On Saturdays I make sautéed turkey patties and in the winter I make sweet potato oven fires one week. Then the next Saturday I'll make veggie pizzas and once a month I'll make Mexican pizzas on Saturday. (I take Sundays off of cooking. We do a lot of leftovers!) On Mondays I'll usually do a hearty bean dish and then on Tuesday I'll do something with chicken. It makes meal plans and grocery lists so very easy. Of course, if we see a really good deal on something not normally on the menu, we'll snap it up and work with it some how. I am the one who normally eats leftovers for lunch. But, when I make soups or some bean dishes I'll make enough to freeze for another meal. We ALWAYS portion size anything we get a good deal on and freeze it. Another good vlog! Hello pupper Dixie Belle!
Hello Emmy and Paul, Mealplan: today spaghettis with bacon- cheese Sauce. Tomorrow Chicken with potaties and vegetables. And Friday french fries with a Hamburger Lovely greetings
Great tips Emmy and what a haul 👍 I’m happily at the stage where I have stocked up with what I think I need and now am rotating out of my pantry/freezer every week. Consequently all I need to buy is milk and bread and fresh fruits and vegetables. I recently dug up my potatoes we grew this summer and I won’t need to buy potatoes until next year, same for my tomato crop. I was very lucky that a friend donated a bagful of cooking apples in exchange for some of my tomatoes and so apple and blackberry crumble is on the menu too. I meal plan on a monthly basis and budget as low as I can inspite of the endless price increases we are all experiencing. Meals for this week with me are 1)lightly dusted lemon sole with chips and peas 2) lamb and veggie casserole with rice using up leftover lamb from a roast 3)smoked haddock fillet with cheese sauce with potatoes and vegetables 4) corned beef hash 5) breaded cod and chips with baked beans 6) chicken mini breast fillets with mini roasted potatoes and peas/ green beans 7) pork sausages with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy with carrots and Brussels sprouts. I usually have a crumble or yogurt and stewed plums available for pudding if anyone wants some. Normally we have a pasta dish but we ate more fish this week for a change. Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving ❤️
Pasta Fagioli Soup (Olive Garden copy-cat recipe) Easy Jambalaya, Enchilada Casserole. We are a family of three and each meal will last a couple of days and sometimes we still have leftovers to freeze. We always try to have dinner together as a family. My husband likes to play music that matches our dinner, so Italian music for Italian meals. BTW I always watch until the very end, so I don't miss the Dixie cuteness. Many blessings your way!
My menu for the next few days will be....tonight we had baked pork chops, baked sweet potato, green beans and rolls. Friday will be....meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Saturday will be homemade pizza and salad, Sunday will be homemade vegetable beef soup. I really enjoy watching your channel.
Chili with bread or cornbread, kielbasa & cabbage soup, curried broccoli with rice, bbq black bean sandwiches with coleslaw, salmon burgers with roasted potato wedges, fried rice, black bean soup. If you look closely there are several of the same ingredients in these meals and yet they are very different; i.e. cabbage in soup & coleslaw, rice in curry & fried rice, black beans in sandwiches and soup.
Enjoyed seeing your shopping haul and your menu plans! My menu plan for this week... Tuesday: Tossed green salad with boiled egg, green pepper, cucumber, red onion, and chicken tenders with red wine vinegar and olive oil dressing. Wednesday: Roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, and bell peppers with chicken sausages. Thursday: Cheesy ham and potato soup with homemade bread. Friday Snack Night: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, and dill on pita crackers with grapes, mandarin oranges, and apple slices. Saturday: Tacos. Sunday: Spicy black bean soup.
Meal planning always includes leftovers! Tuesday tacos Wednesday spaghetti squash (with leftover beef from tacos and some leftover garden tomatoes! They just ripened on the counter. I picked them green before pulling the plants 😊) Thursday Leftover stir fry from Monday Friday Deconstructed cheese burger salad Great video, Emmy! Loving your lost leader finds!
You really got some good deals this week! My menu is: homemade veggie pizza, Zuppa Toscana soup, spaghetti & meatballs, korma chicken & naan bread, chicken pot pie. Have a great day :)
Hi Emmy and Paul, It has been a while since I have gotten on TH-cam. It is great to "see" you! You got some great deals! I love lasagna! I have a recipe from Kraft that uses regular lasagna noodles and you don't have to boil them. It definitely saves time! I am making beef and vegetable soup in the crock pot right now. That should last us a few days at least! I also want to make hard boiled eggs and will probably make a cucumber tomato salad this week, too. Breakfast for us is usually the same thing - yogurt and fruit, or oatmeal and fruit. Occasionally I will make eggs, but not usually on weekdays. I am hoping we will be less tempted to go out to eat if we have food prepped and ready. Eating out has gotten so expensive!
Those were some great prices. I love shopping the sales. I just got whole boneless pork loins for $1.49 lb and Boston butt roast $1.29 lb I stocked up on both I love cutting up the Boston butts and grinding them into breakfast sausage and many other types of sausages. Our breakfast starting on Sunday is always sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, Saturday waffles, pancakes and bacon, Friday sausage and egg on homemade English muffins, thursday French toast and sausage or bacon, Wednesday scrambled egg bacon on toast, Tuesday homemade muffins or waffles monday omelette with ham chopped inside them, toast, lunches are much simpler soups, sandwiches, supper if I have been busy I ll pull a jar of my homcanned meat or a meal starter off the shelf it could be roasted pork, roast beef, chicken, turkey, chicken a la king, chicken pot pie base, chili, beef stew. I spend all spring summer and fall planning and pressure canning meals from meats and vegetables, fruits that we have caught on sale or we have raised.we grow on average about 85% of all our vegetables, fruits, berries, grapes. It’s one of those things my mom taught me many years ago. It’s great for convenience and it’s great when you don’t have electricity and I call it insurance in case something happens like another severe ice storm and roads are impassable and closed due to electric lines, poles and trees.
So many good tips! My freezers & pantry’s are stocked. I keep a running list of meal ideas from what Is stocked. Don’t go to the store unless I have to buy the loss leaders. Then pick up whatever else I need to complete meals or we are running low on. We really eat well, and don’t spend a lot. Today I stopped by the store for boneless/skinless chicken breast for 99 cents a pound. Limit #10lbs.
Another great video, Paul and Emmy! Meal prep ahead and freezer meals are definitely a budget and sanity saver! When I make lasagna, I make three trays at one time. One to eat that night, and the rest of the week, and two for the freezer, I put those in unbaked. I also put at least one into a disposable aluminum pan, that way, I have an easy homemade meal to take on vacation or a meal that I can take to someone if they are sick, have suffered a loss, or have a new baby. Your ideas never get old. Thank you!
Good morning Emmy and Paul, just saw your video, awesome. What I did just now with leftover, that I took little bit(2tbsp) oatmeal added water and mixed all the left out vegies, pulse soup etc and mixed with it all seasons dressing to give an extra zing, boil and had a wonderful lunch, garnished with cilantro.I saved and streched my leftover,i controlled my calories and money too.Yoyr videos are very very motivating and keeps me in the spirits.Thank you and gratitude.Love to dear Dixie
Made hambuger patties with gourmet seasoning. Hambugers for lunch for 2 days. Tonight patties and corn. Tomorrow night pattie with corn and microwave potatoe. Then have a bone in turkey breast that was in the frezzer. That will finish off the week. Trying to use frezzer and pantry items.
We live in CT and it looks like our Shop Rites have the same loss leaders! Definitely stocked up on the chicken breasts we also plan to go back and get the whole chicken and sugar. My meals are planned through Sunday and it looks like this - Tonight we had Freezer Clean Out and found some frozen fish filets and fries. Tomorrow is Chicken and Dumplings. Thursday is always soup & sandwich around here, usually tuna because everybody likes it. Friday is always pizza night. Saturday is Breakfast for dinner, bacon or sausage, French Toast or Pancakes. Sunday will be homemade chicken nuggets in the air fryer. I always make a little extra dinner so my husband can take some for lunch the next day!
I just realized fully cooked smoked sausage can be eaten cold sliced with crackers and cheese. I regularly find it around $2 a 16 or 12 Oz pack on special. Cheap quick meal for us. Hopefully I will find time to make chicken corn soup and use that as a base for several meals next week. This week I am useing down the freezer as I get ready for Thanksgiving.
Yesterday I used a rain check for some 85% ground beef. My rain check never expired so I got the sales price from 2018! So last night we had hamburgers Tonight we are having spaghetti with meat sauce. Tomorrow night we are going to have bang bang shrimp because shrimp was on sale a couple of weeks ago and we bought a lot of it that is taking up our freezer space. The night after that we will have garlic shrimp and pasta. I typically make enough so that we have the same meal for lunch the next day.
I made a whole crock pot with brown rice...was mushy like it better in oven, but put it in two cups in baggies for freezer, The texture was more l grits , use one cup with left over chicken and veggies a dash of soy sauce ..was great,
I meal plan in my head and change it as I shop if I spot better prices, unfortunately the sale items in my area are either inferior or sold out quickly…so need to adjust spontaneously…this week, Made home made navy bean soup and tuna on toast for dinner with left over soup for lunches. Cabbage roll casserole with other 1/2 of cabbage to use in shrimp stir fry. Whole chicken in crockpot with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. With leftover pieces of chicken to use in pad Thai and final bits/pcs of veggies to use for chicken noodle soup.
Great video as always!Tonight we had meatball sandwiches using some hot dog buns from the freezer and a salad. Wednesday will be tuna casserole (I’ll make extra to freeze) and Waldorf salad, Thursday is pasta and sauce using the leftover meatballs from tonight plus a green salad, Friday is what my husband’s family always called Fromies! (That’s some from Monday, some from Tuesday, some from Wednesday, etc! In other words, leftovers.). Saturday I’ll pull out a container of chili from the freezer which I batched cooked last week plus some corn muffins I had also frozen! Sunday after church will be a stew, also from the batch cook last week. It can be heating in the crock pot and ready when we get home! Sunday night is always homemade pizza.
*Tonight it's leftovers shared between two: 1 potion leek and celery blue cheese soup🥣, 1 portion brusselssproutmash 🥔and 1 portion of pork diced🥓. Maybe plain yoghurt as dessert *Tomorrow its chines cabbage leafs🥬 stirfry with scrambled eggs🥚 and ( rice) (noudles)🍜 a handful of peanuts perhaps and a bit of Asian oystersauce * Friday will be glutenfree Pasta🍝 +Tomato sauce made with leftover fresh tomatoes and leftover celery, 1 onion, dried basil, oregano, lavas and chives, a pinch of salt and leftover🧀 cheese I grated and kept in the freezer before I went on holiday. * Monday when I come back from a weekend with family it will be beef stew 🍲(leftover from my birtday in the freezer) , potatoes🥔 and greenbeans out of the freezer, a quick nourishing dish.
Thanks for the reminder about the crackpot acorn squash. I bought 2 the other day at a local farm market. I'll be cooking them in the crackpot. I have a couple of zucchini I need to use, so I'll be using it in a recipe my mother in law gave me years ago for impossible pie. She found it on a box of Bisquick. I also will be making a big pot of pasta fagioli soup. Love your videos.
Hi folks! I have lasagna in the oven right now! Assembled it today during my lunch break and popped it into the oven after I voted this evening. Headed to SR this Saturday. Good loss leaders! Definitely getting the chicken breast! Great ideas. I'll be eating lasagna for several days. But perhaps a chicken broccoli rice casserole. I have fresh broccoli I want to use along with some of the $1.99 chicken breast. Yum! Winner, winner chicken dinner! Lol Stay well. All is good here. The boy is doing well! 👍
Hi, it has been 25 minutes, since my comment about TH-cam! I can now give a thumbs up! A little scarry, I have watched for years! I am glad they fixed it for you, and others! Thank-You! God-Bless!
Loved this video. It has inspired me to make a meal plan for this busy week. I have taken some bean soup out of the freezer to have with leftover hot dogs one night. A chicken stir fry another night and homemade pizzas for yet another. These are simple but yummy meals. My goal is to try to stay away from the grocery store this week except for maybe lettuce as I have a lot of leftovers from our family weekend getaway. Wish me well! 😂
Thank you for mentioning the deal on the Hefty gallon freezer bags! I just clipped the digital coupon and added the item to my shopping list for today at ShopRite. 😊 I’m snagging the deals on both the chicken breasts and chicken thighs. It’s just my husband and me in our home, but I cook the entire large family package of chicken, then freeze whatever cooked chicken we don’t eat in freezer bags. I can pull down a piece or two of chicken at a time, reheat in the toaster oven or microwave, and add it on a salad or other quick sides for an easy meal when we don’t have time or feel like cooking much.
I've been buying family packs and portioning it out since I was a new bride 36 years ago. Even when the 2 kids came along, I used meat as an ingredient or portioned it out for each person. Meal plan: Today ham,red rice, green beans, tossed salad and dinner rolls with chocolate pie for dessert. Our neighbors are coming over for dinner! Wednesday: Homemade Deli sandwich, soup and salad. Thursday: Leftover sausage, potatoes and onions, collard greens and salad. Friday: Going to our daughters and taking leftover ham, red rice and green beans to her as we will be traveling back to Florida from Tennessee.
Great tips! Speaking of recipes with special ingredients, years ago I had a subscription to Food & Wine. I was going through a wine pairing/tasting phase and liked to pick a new recipe every month. It was a hot summer day and I saw a green goddess chicken salad that sounded delicious, so I invited one of my good friends over. Between all the special ingredients, spices etc and pairing the right wine with it, it was $50.00! My $50.00 salad night will remain etched in my memory forever, haha. I no longer do any of that, I'm much wiser and just stick with more everyday, simple ingredients and flavors that work for my household. Enchilada casserole with rice, tacos, pasta dishes/casseroles, lentil soup, BBQ chicken, broccoli cheese rice casserole, cheese/dip and crackers. I like to bake, and when I do I usually freeze half.
Your advice to keep a food inventory is SPOT ON!! Not sure if this is helpful, but our family loves such a huge variety of foods from other cultures which helps us save money because there is more of a chance of these food items going on sale more often. We buy very little processed foods. Don't eat junk foods. Make our own yogurt. On a side note, using an electric razor saves money and there is nothing to throw away.
Wow! I to only eat 2 meals daily and brkfst around 10 am and dinner 4-5. Due to multiple medical appointments all summer very difficult to keep on schedule. I enjoy eating at home and not going out. Saves gas that is for sure. I like the theme days. Great ideas. I like the idea of batch cooking. Making maybe 2 -3 meals at a time and have meals all week.
Hello Emmy&Paul, i enjoy each video you share with us. Lost leaders terminology was not a term i was familiar with until i joined your video family. Today our day was a hurry scurry one so i pre-planned a crock pot meal. I already had lentils on hand, diced tomatoes on hand, carrots, potatoes and chicken better than bullion. My recipe called for swiss chard,i didnt have that ingredient so i subbed out some fresh spinach in place of swiss chard. It worked out wonderfully! It was enough to serve my husband and I and had enough to pack in my lunch pack that i take to work! Win,win. Just knowing what a person can substitute for an ingredient is super helpful! When i google an ingredient to substitute for something else i write it on index cards to keep in my recipe box. Saves time the next time i need to substitute an ingredient!
Those were great bargains! Stocking up here as well for Christmas baking and winter. Tonight my husband and I have a couples thing at the church with dinner but I'm making spaghetti and garlic bread for our teenager and we will have it for leftovers tomorrow night. Thursday will be chicken and broccoli casserole. Friday is always something Mexican inspired. Tacos, nachos, quesadilla. Your meal plan sounds yummy! Love homemade soup. ❤️
I haven't seen a coupon in the UK for about 30 years and a BOGOF in about 25 , yet BOGOFS still get mentioned like they haven't noticed they don't do them anymore. The last nearest thing to a BOGOF was buy 2 get 1 free and I haven't seen that for about a decade.
I’m quite pleased to see the back of BOGOF’s - they were always for absolute crap rather than anything worth having, but you sort of felt almost obliged to buy them because you got one “FREE”…! I appreciate that people with children might miss them though (they were always the sort of rubbish that children want.)
You found some amazing bargains! I love using coupons and coupon apps. My husband and I also eat two meals a day and the evening meal is always at 4pm.
Meal Options coming up = homemade lentil stew, beans/rice, chicken/veggie stir fry, egg salad; banana bread too. Produce expensive and no baking supplies on sale here yet. Keeping watch!
Tonight is macaroni with lentils, tomorrow is falafel bowls with rice and stuffed grape leaves, Friday is veggie pizza. I'm also making a gingerbread loaf, I've been wanting to try this recipe I found on Pinterest, and if we like it, I"ll make it again for Christmas morning. :)
My meal plan for next few days will be mostly made up of items I had made before and portioned out and frozen. So, Friday: Baked ravioli and salad, Saturday: Minuteman Stew and salad, Sunday: Chicken, rice and spinach casserole w/ a veggie, Monday: pizza w/ a veggie, Tuesday: Bacon, eggs, toast and hash browns, Weds: Chicken & orzo soup w/ bread, Thurs: Spaghetti squash bake
Thank you for another helpful video. These last few weeks have been especially busy for us as a family so I have relied on my slow cooker and Instant Pot. This week's meal plan: Monday: egg salad sandwiches(using the Instant Pot makes this a breeze), fruit & fruit dip Tuesday: chili, cornbread, and fruit Wednesday: RITZ cracker chicken, ocra, fruit salad Thursday: pasta casserole using leftover chili as the protein, salad, fruit Friday: leftovers *I have been much better about using items from our garden and preparing double batches of protein to use later. We have chickens so having eggs for dinner is a real bonus. Thanks for the inspiration!
Making a pot roast roasted veggies ie brussel sprouts etc, chicken rice aroni and burgers with a side of Mac n cheese cooked with fresh spinach tossed into the the Mac n cheese
Canada don't have deal like that. And the price are insane .Fresh Vegetables are pricy here .I don't eat meat so that is bad for me. $ 5.57 for 4 avocado.
Another great video Emmy & Paul 👍😊 My meal plan for the next 3 days is soup to use up all the older veggies, poormans meal to use up some older potatoes and onions and veggies stew & dumplings 😋 Love to you, Paul & Dixie 🥰
Great haul. I have a standard list for breakfast and lunches. I meal plan for suppers but don’t have a specific day we have them. I cook for at least to suppers. It’s so much of a time saver.
Our Walmart had Jennie -O turkeys .98 a lb. I already have 2 in freezer from last year. I still bought 1 . They keep a long time in the deep freeze. I try & meal plan as I go into the freezer & pull for the week. Then I don't have to open it again. Take everything & put it into kitchen freezer. Living in North Florida we were 84 today & high's in the 60's by weekend. So I have to watch the weather. Just finishing up chili I made & froze from last year. We do NOT have LOSS LEADERS. I'm too rural. lol
Your enthusiasm is contagious!
YAY! Thanks!
I have a master list for breakfast, lunch, dinners, deserts and snacks. I have a master inventory list. I plan my meals around these using grocery sales as fillers. I try to incorporate a new recipe every 2 weeks. This helps me keep things healthy, affordable and tasty.
Sounds like a great system!
I also keep a master inventory list. On my tablet so it's easier to update.
Such a great system you have! Wonderful Vicki!
Thank you for such a wonderful channel❤
can relate.hubby and I have to eat a special diet,low fat,low sodium,low sugar,minimal carb,less processed,less greasy diet.
Those meals sound delicious! I want to eat at your house.
Sounds like some wonderful meals Antoinette!
🛑 Little tip
You can hack lasagna noodles to be No Boil... Just soak them in hot water for a bit like 15min or so, add a little bit of EXTRA water to the sauce so it can finish cooking the noodles!!!
No need to purchase the more expensive no boil and it saved so much time and extra work 😁
Yes, thanks!
Blessings!
Your meals sound so good! Thanks for sharing!
So true! Thank you!
YAY! Wonderful meals!
Thanks Sheila! Love the fudge idea!!
That's a great idea!
Perfect Denise! Smart!
Meal plan
Tonight : chicken stuffing casserole
Wednesday Spanish lentil soup
Thursday couscous with veggies and pineapple salad ( all from other meals)

YUM! Great meals Frank!

Sounds great Julie!
YAY! A new kitchen how wonderful!!
Sounds so creative and wonderful! Thanks Marykaye!
I love meal planning around the grocery store sale ads and what I already have in the freezer and pantry.
Me too!! Economical and creative!
All sound wonderful! Thanks!
Can you please tell me
I love salmon
I want to make it in my air fryer convection oven.
I'm afraid to because of the smell fish leaves. I can't clean the "oven" as you can with those small basket types.
I don't want my cake, bread's etc smelling like fish 🐟
Any suggestions,?
Yes, thank you! We posted on the community board that we were taking a week off last week!
So glad all is well!
This week I’m making pork chops, homemade macaroni and cheese with garlic green beans and bread, naan pizza, lentil curry with garlic naan, white bean chicken chili, and spaghetti and meatballs.
Oh sounds wonderful!
I also have a master list for breakfast/lunch, although lunch is usually leftovers. Dinners this week:
Zuppa Toscana and biscuits
Roast chicken, stuffing, potatoes, Brussels, and apple crisp w/vanilla ice cream (big Sunday dinner)
Fried flounder, potatoes, green beans
Chicken tinga (taco Tuesday) w/avocado salad
Make your own Sushi bowls
Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and salad
Grab and Growl (leftover night)
I have a family of 5 and some picky eaters ❤️
All of your meals sound wonderful Ashley!
No waste!
Amy those are some amazing stock up prices!
Just an idea 😃😃
Love your haul! Not wanting to sound critical! You guys are great! Just an idea for anyone if it’s an option occasionally
YES! That's a wonderful idea! Thanks!
Meal plan? Sort of... lol I do rotate favorite things as I get the druthers.
*big smile*
LOVE THIS LOL! So fun! Your meal plan sounds wonderful!
I have been watching Frugal Money Saver for approximately 6 months from Colorado! The gift card would be in time for my bday🙂
Sounds great Jayne! Thanks!
Sounds great Toni! Thanks!
Oh my gosh what an amazing price Cate!!
We do a lot of leftovers!)
On Mondays I'll usually do a hearty bean dish and then on Tuesday I'll do something with chicken.
What a great system Barbara! Thank you for taking the time to share that!
Hello Emmy and Paul,
Mealplan: today spaghettis with bacon- cheese Sauce.
Tomorrow Chicken with potaties and vegetables.
And Friday french fries with a Hamburger
Lovely greetings
Thanks so much Marianne!
Great tips Emmy and what a haul 👍
I’m happily at the stage where I have stocked up with what I think I need and now am rotating out of my pantry/freezer every week.
Your menus sound delicious! Honestly, so good! Thanks for sharing!
Oh thank you for watching the whole video! Dixie appreciates it LOL!
Sounds great! Thanks so much Rose!
Chili with bread or cornbread, kielbasa & cabbage soup, curried broccoli with rice, bbq black bean sandwiches with coleslaw, salmon burgers with roasted potato wedges, fried rice, black bean soup. If you look closely there are several of the same ingredients in these meals and yet they are very different;
i.e. cabbage in soup & coleslaw, rice in curry & fried rice, black beans in sandwiches and soup.
Yes! So creative Grandknit!
Please do this every week!
The food haul or meal plan?
@@FrugalMoneySaverboth! I wish more people did this.
Leftovers are the best! Another great video. Thanks.
Thanks so much Colleen!
Enjoyed seeing your shopping haul and your menu plans! My menu plan for this week... Tuesday: Tossed green salad with boiled egg, green pepper, cucumber, red onion, and chicken tenders with red wine vinegar and olive oil dressing. Wednesday: Roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, and bell peppers with chicken sausages. Thursday: Cheesy ham and potato soup with homemade bread. Friday Snack Night: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, and dill on pita crackers with grapes, mandarin oranges, and apple slices. Saturday: Tacos. Sunday: Spicy black bean soup.
All of it sounds wonderful! Thanks Sabrina!
Meal planning always includes leftovers!
Tuesday tacos
Wednesday spaghetti squash (with leftover beef from tacos and some leftover garden tomatoes! They just ripened on the counter. I picked them green before pulling the plants 😊)
Thursday Leftover stir fry from Monday
Friday Deconstructed cheese burger salad
Great video, Emmy! Loving your lost leader finds!
Thanks so much for sharing Mary!
You really got some good deals this week! My menu is: homemade veggie pizza, Zuppa Toscana soup, spaghetti & meatballs, korma chicken & naan bread, chicken pot pie. Have a great day :)
Sounds delicious Maegan!
Yes Amy! I agree! Less temptation to go out if we have something yummy ready!
Monday =stuffed peppers Tuesday=Aldi shrimp burgers Wed= Chicken potpie Thursday =Philly cheese steak Friday =lamb and roasted veggies Sat&Sun leftovers 0r out for dinner
Sounds wonderful Heather!
WOW! How wonderful you grow so much of your food! 85%!!
WOW! .99 that amazing!
If you have extra anchovies, send them my way! I love anchovies! 😄
You got it lol!
Thank you!
Oh wonderful Susie! So thoughtful!
Sounds great Deepa! Very creative!!
Paula so smart!
Your videos are so comforting to me wish i had parents like you
😇😊
So sweet of you to say Amy!
Your meals sound great Micheline! Thanks!
Yes, we need to start using down our freezer as well!
We are late but watching now.
You are never late Steve and Sherry! Thanks!!
@@FrugalMoneySaver we thank,you both.
Yesterday I used a rain check for some 85% ground beef. My rain check never expired so I got the sales price from 2018!
So last night we had hamburgers
Tonight we are having spaghetti with meat sauce.
WOW! That is amazing it never expired!
Thank you for reminding me about coupons.
I made a whole crock pot with brown rice...was mushy like it better in oven, but put it in two cups in baggies for freezer, The texture was more l grits , use one cup with left over chicken and veggies a dash of soy sauce ..was great,
That's wonderful you were creative with the rice!
Great melas! Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful Connie! All great meals!
I’d love to stop by at your house, you’re both so lovely 🥰
That is so kind of you to say!
I watched a video...
They prepared celery and carrots and kept them in jars with water covering them. They said they lasted a good month this way!!
It’s true! Works great
Do you change the water periodically?
I have never done that so not really sure...
*Tonight it's leftovers shared between two: 1 potion leek and celery blue cheese soup🥣, 1 portion brusselssproutmash 🥔and 1 portion of pork diced🥓. Maybe plain yoghurt as dessert
*Tomorrow its chines cabbage leafs🥬 stirfry with scrambled eggs🥚 and ( rice) (noudles)🍜 a handful of peanuts perhaps and a bit of Asian oystersauce
* Friday will be glutenfree Pasta🍝 +Tomato sauce made with leftover fresh tomatoes and leftover celery, 1 onion, dried basil, oregano, lavas and chives, a pinch of salt and leftover🧀 cheese I grated and kept in the freezer before I went on holiday.
* Monday when I come back from a weekend with family it will be beef stew 🍲(leftover from my birtday in the freezer) , potatoes🥔 and greenbeans out of the freezer, a quick nourishing dish.
All of your meals sound great!
@@FrugalMoneySaver thank you, all low price buy, so frugal, healty and warming
Thanks for the reminder about the crackpot acorn squash. I bought 2 the other day at a local farm market. I'll be cooking them in the crackpot. I have a couple of zucchini I need to use, so I'll be using it in a recipe my mother in law gave me years ago for impossible pie. She found it on a box of Bisquick. I also will be making a big pot of pasta fagioli soup. Love your videos.
All of those meals sound wonderful!
You really did great with your shopping trip! You gave wonderful tips. Love the video
Thank you so much Jackie!
So happy to hear you both are doing well! Sy and his buddy really enjoyed the lasagne last night too! We don't have much left though LOL! Big hugs!
Hi, it has been 25 minutes, since my comment about TH-cam! I can now give a thumbs up! A little scarry, I have watched for years! I am glad they fixed it for you, and others! Thank-You! God-Bless!
I did not see that on my end...
Every week we do meatless Mondays and Wednesdays. There are so many other items that are full of protein besides just meat!
Absolutely Lisa!
Wow great channel- well done. I am enjoying many of your previous videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so very much!!
well another awesome video guys! sure enjoyed it! and the kicker is Dixie at the end, always a star! blessings from dawn at Rich and Dawn in Minnesota
Thanks so much!!
YAY! So happy you mela planned Susan! Makes life so much easier!
Perfect! So smart to do it that way!
I've been buying family packs and portioning it out since I was a new bride 36 years ago. Even when the 2 kids came along, I used meat as an ingredient or portioned it out for each person.
Meal plan:
Today ham,red rice, green beans, tossed salad and dinner rolls with chocolate pie for dessert.
All of that sounds amazing! I have never had red rice!
@@FrugalMoneySaver when I get home I will email you the recipe.
LOL! Great story and I bet the salad was delicious though!
Those were amazing pre inflation prices!
Right?! So happy!
Thanks for the coupon tip on the Galbani cheeses!! I was able to get that same deal in my grocery store this week 💕
You are so welcome!
So true! Paul can't use an electric razor they bother him.
Thanks for sharing Vicki!
Love that! Good for you! So creative Lisa!
Wow...great ideas!!!
Thank you! 😊
Excellent video Emmy and Paul! So many good tips to save money. I need to revamp our menus and you gave me some good ideas.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Love the meal plan ideas
Thanks Lisa!
Sound great Tracey! Thanks for sharing!
Oh wow! We still have coupons here!
You found some amazing bargains! I love using coupons and coupon apps. My husband and I also eat two meals a day and the evening meal is always at 4pm.
YAY! A kindred spirit lol!
Meal Options coming up = homemade lentil stew, beans/rice, chicken/veggie stir fry, egg salad; banana bread too. Produce expensive and no baking supplies on sale here yet. Keeping watch!
Hopefully they will go on sale soon!
Great channel!! very helpful!!
Thanks so much!
Oh I love gingerbread! Let me know how it comes out!
Sounds great! Love chicken orzo soup!
Anchovy paste instead of anchovies.
Thank you for another helpful video. These last few weeks have been especially busy for us as a family so I have relied on my slow cooker and Instant Pot.
This week's meal plan:
Monday: egg salad sandwiches(using the Instant Pot makes this a breeze), fruit & fruit dip
Tuesday: chili, cornbread, and fruit
Wednesday: RITZ cracker chicken, ocra, fruit salad
Thursday: pasta casserole using leftover chili as the protein, salad, fruit
Friday: leftovers
*I have been much better about using items from our garden and preparing double batches of protein to use later. We have chickens so having eggs for dinner is a real bonus. Thanks for the inspiration!
So creative and delicious! Thanks!
Another beautiful fall blouse!
Oh thanks so much!
Making a pot roast roasted veggies ie brussel sprouts etc, chicken rice aroni and burgers with a side of Mac n cheese cooked with fresh spinach tossed into the the Mac n cheese

That's great Alicia!
Great buys, the only I can get here is avocado for .99 cents each
Thanks Beth!
Canada don't have deal like that. And the price are insane .Fresh Vegetables are pricy here .I don't eat meat so that is bad for me. $ 5.57 for 4 avocado.
Oh my that is expensive!
Another great video Emmy & Paul 👍😊 My meal plan for the next 3 days is soup to use up all the older veggies, poormans meal to use up some older potatoes and onions and veggies stew & dumplings 😋 Love to you, Paul & Dixie 🥰
Sounds great Bex!
I got a few more for your list: waffles, hash browns, cereal, egg bites, bagels, breakfast casserole, breakfast burritos.
YES! Thanks Latesha!
Today- Tamales, Wednesday- Eggs and Bacon, Thursday leftovers, Friday - Pizza, Saturday- Smokes Brisket
Wonderful Michelle!
Great haul. I have a standard list for breakfast and lunches. I meal plan for suppers but don’t have a specific day we have them. I cook for at least to suppers. It’s so much of a time saver.
I agree!
WOW great job 👍
Avocado is $2.99 each by me!!
Yikes!
I'm too rural. lol
That is an awesome price for the turkeys!
