You helped me a lot. I am now sober over 4 months. When I saw one of your videos, it pushed me to stop drinking. I started at age 14. I am 59 now. Thank you.
Very similar story to mine, started in my mid teens and didn’t quit until I had an alcohol related medical emergency aged 58, I had to fall a very long way before I was ready to pick myself up. Sober since 2019…it can be done, good luck 🤞
Well done mate.. really, not an easy thing to do.. 👊
Well done .Get to bed without having a drink .❤

So disgusting, 5 cans of strong cider 7.5% before work 🤢 it barely touched me...
Also, waking up to the horrifying realisation that there is no alcohol and having to shake my way to the shop, thought i was gonna have a seizure...
2 months sober now
Really well done ! Respect 👊

Thank you Steven you’re the voice I don’t have.
Thank you so much..I hope I can help you 👍
Mr Steven's voice is in all of us. Please believe me.
His voice we hear every day of the week from morning to night. It's up to us to make the change of what takes over our lives, for Mr Steven is a true man.
Thanks Steven for this heartfelt message today. Today is Sunday and in my drinking days Sundays were wasted hungover and sick and remorseful. Waking up sober on Sundays never gets old. You look amazing mate ❤

I haven’t had a drink for 44 years. Still, the most important thing every single day is not drinking alcohol. I’ve got a bad memory but can remember the whole week after I stopped. The problems were still there, they never go away. Thanks for the videos.

AA helped me. Drunks talking to drunks. They understand because they've been through it, no matter what stage of recovery you're at. Many people say that don't believe in a "Higher Power." A man said to me, "The Higher Power is within you. Accept it or reject it as you see fit."

Powerful words 🙏
This is the voice of hard, authentic and genuine experience. Such words, I think, could help many young people avoid the pitfalls and downward spiral 🌀 of alcoholism.
Very true, when one is caught in that limbo state where one realizes - with horror - that one is addicted to this godforsaken substance, and that getting off it is not going to be easy, all too often one can end up in a drawn out state of barely living. This is especially dangerous when you don’t have loved ones stepping in and for want of a better word staging an intervention or something.
The bleakness one feels is awful.
One thing I often think is forgotten is that alcohol is a depressant. It’s a downer. For those who do have insecurities or are subject to depression anyway, this can push them into even more dangerous territory.
The important thing to remember is that there is hope, you can get out of this and you can turn things around. You sir are giving us valuable lessons in this every day. Thank you 🙏

I don't know how to tell others (family, former friends,...) about the fact that I wasted my youth with alcohol and am sick.
But this is the only explanation I can give for the state of my life which is a disaster.
You got to move on my friend
Something to remember is that it’s not only the addicts that will have serious health conditions from alcohol. Steady consistent drinkers can develop life threatening issues. Genetics plays a part in how much alcohol affects you.
I went sober for months but chose to drink again. Twice a week. Maximum ten units a night.
Ive had no issue sticking to that but even I am questioning the point. What is the point?
I have had 9.5 units tonight. I am tipsy. I won’t touch another drop until next weekend.
Is it worth it? No.
in new year I am going sober again. Minimum 6 months

Hi all, not made a comment in a while as sadly ive got into a bit of a cycle with the poison again drinking to calm the severe fear of damaging my body... from drink... madness right? Just a check in comment saying i pray within the next few days of a taper doesnt need to be more than that as ive only relapsed for a few weeks so i should be fine quitting fast - but still watch every video / read comments as both help me so much - despite ages sober before hand (months) my livers come .back again so symptoms that started to dissapear are returning fast... so i get terrified and worried i wont attain sobriety again... drink to calm then awake late in the night wirh the symptoms there again which re starts the cycle. Stupid thing is... im just turned 29 and know at this stage the cure all is as simple as putting thr drink / smoke down and letting time do its thing. Anyone with me maybe reading this comment not sober dont feel put off or ashamed as we too are welcome here as reverse motivation thru our commwnts someone struggling with thoughts of a relapse to read and get a reminder why we all wanted to quit so why the hell return to it all
Get yourself to the doctors asap! At your age you have plenty of time to turn your life around....
Well said he’s only 29 👍
You are young enough to get this sorted.. stick with us 👍
I'm responsible for the first drink, after that the addiction kicks in and I can't stop. The self inflicted observation isn't really fair because the vast majority take the drink but don't develop the addiction, is it genetic, is it a result of trauma (childhood ?), is it a social anxiety .. no one has really answered that, maybe combination of all, we don't tell a cancer patient it's self inflicted. However, it's important to know and accept, my problems were basically of my own making. I stopped when I became sick and tired of being sick and tired. That last time I lay under a tree throwing up yellow bile, my then boyfried said "we've all been there, just rest up", he didn't know this was no hangover, it was relapse, with wine in the house I knew a drink would fix it, I stood at the turning point, rang for help and the obsession, desire need to drink was gradually removed and has never returned.

@@stevencurry215 i became addicted when my 54 year old boyfriend left a bottle of liqour on his counter for me to drink and stay home and do whatever i want. Not to mention he had a weed growing business at the time. He gave me unlimited supply of weed. Guess where i turned out? Thankfully i gave up weed december 2023 but alcohol has me and i dont know where to go. Its so easy to just buy a bottle and forget it
Hi Steven , you said you had a relapse after 8 years , how long after you starting drinking again did your accetis return and your emergency hospital visit ? Andy
I started drinking again in 2014 after 8 years sober but was very quickly Back onto full time drinking..the ascites was 2019… 5 years after ..
I'm not anti alcohol but I know I'm better off without it. I don't assume I will never drink again but rather I avoid things and people that would make me drink again. I have got looks from people for drinking soft drinks (including ribena lol) at social gatherings including a fiftieth birthday party for a relation but I don't care. I would get ignored for not drinking and would probably only get attention from others if I was drinking etc which is frustrating. The first step is admitting there's a problem and then doing something about it which Steven is doing. Another step is talking to others about it whether it's your friends or indeed a forum like TH-cam. I know a pos who abuses alcohol, they got into trouble several times and a few years ago I saw they were arrested for drink/driving. I bet that was everyone else's fault but their own. They had their licence removed but they found ways to get to the bar and get blind drunk. I am of the opinion they would drink drive again if they thought they would get away with it. Those types of people should have their name and details broadcast on a forum like TH-cam to humilate them and perhaps sober them. Addiction can affect anyone, nobody is above it (regardless of your background or circumstances), I think it's the people that enable those addictions should be ashamed of themselves. Talking about it and helping others is a good thing to do, but I think you need to reach rock bottom (or a few bad experiences) which you scare you straight. Opinions are my own. Have a good day reader.
Excellent message..a lot of valid points especially re Drink / Drive ..,keep posting it’s very interesting 👍
@stevencurry215 thank you. Keep up your good work. It's eye opening. Take care all.

It means I can't go to work and I only live 5 mins away. They said it's called proximal myopathy but it will get better if I don't drink.
