Jerry absolutely is a Legend. I am so in awe of his capacity as a songwriter and a guitarist. Humility is an endearing quality but I can't bear the thought of him being surprised or taken aback by being referred to as a Legend. That's simply what Jerry Cantrell is. 🖤🎸

Jerry’s a cool dude but I met him and he kind of blew me off. It was disappointing. Bottom line is if you have no status, most of the time people of status won’t bother with you. Still respect him as a musician though

@@kanachanwhisper7174 I saw a solo Jerry show at the Palms in Vegas in 2005. While I was having an early dinner in one of the hotel’s restaurants, Jerry walked right by my table with two guys I didn’t recognize and was seated not far from me. I didn’t even consider for a second approaching him. My instincts told me not to bother the man during his pre-show meal. So later when he came on stage to start his set, he was in a visibly good mood and told a quick story about how he had just won $500 on a slot machine on the first try. I always wonder if me not bugging him during dinner helped to set that mood. It’s like the universe was in order - he got to be a normal person in a quiet/nearly empty restaurant and win a little money before being the rockstar that he is later that night. It was a funny anecdote he shared about his evening and then, through his music, he continued to share all sorts of things about his life. We get so much from our heroes through their work and what they choose to share in addition to that. It absolutely needs to be that way and we need to give them their personal/private space otherwise. Anonymity and privacy are gifts that we non-famous individuals take for granted. BUT, if I did talk to Jerry that evening, I would have told him that what I appreciate most about his work is that - both lyrically and musically - he just gets what life sounds like…beauty, ugliness, optimism, doubt, hope, and despair all intertwined… So that’s my favorite story about the time I didn’t meet Jerry Cantrell.
