My favorite part of this movie was how the echolocation was done. It's just visually mesmerizing. And the way they handled Morbius changing from human to vampire form is just as good. If you pay close enough attention you can see some of the changes slip through like his ears and nose. I just feel like Milo got the short end of the stick in terms of vampire form compared to Michael
@@KierLake he basically couldn't ignore his instincts as a bat. Morbius is more bat than human after he became a vampire. And as blade once said, the Thirst can drive someone mad if they abstain for too long.
I have to say, memes and jokes aside the delays helped with the CGI because minus some of the digital vampire faces, it's mostly honestly good. I love the care put on the echolocation powers, it gives you the feel of a living, pulsating sonar with the look of every wave disolving as it crosses anything on its path (and the sound design of it is one of the best things in the movie). It makes you wonder how would it be to see Morbius use his powers to find one sneaky Spider-Man, if only he was here.
@@mekiherring2088 Using Daredevil, one of the main heroes with the power of echolocation for being blind, it is said by Stan Lee himself that this power is better than Spider-Sense. Using a situation where a bullet is fired, let's use each hero as an example. With Spidey, Spider-Sense would only let you know when the bullet got close to Peter. However, with Daredevil, his hearing would allow him to hear the gun being drawn, or at the very least the trigger being pulled and the bullet being fired. He has a few seconds of advantage in this situation but I think my example was clear. Changing the subject, something I think they should talk more about is the effects of Morbius' superhuman speed in this movie. Seriously, I love these effects and it's cool to see super speed being used by a character with a bit of a beastly vibe since super speed is usually just a quick movement on the screen like a teleport. Now in Morbius, this effect seems cooler to me mainly because of the smoke that accompanies his movements.
Jokes aside, the scenes where it's horror like the boat sequence is where the movie really gets its groove. If they kept that tone, made it R rated and used the 2 years it was delayed to fix the writing and do reshoots this would've been a badass movie.
Morbius should have been a bloody film, definitely looking at some of the stuff on the boat. If a vampire slashes your throat, it’s going to result in blood spraying from the severed artery and pouring from the veins. Couple that with some solid writing and it could have been an interesting counterpart to blade. While blade is a hunter of vampires and a half vampire himself, morbius is a human who gained the effective powers of a vampire along with the curse of the craving for blood. The idea that morbius and milo both become living vampires to cure their condition that will kill them, but see the effects differently due to their personal natures. Morbius sees himself as having become a monster, likely because his compassion and empathy towards humans makes him feel guilty for his need to consume blood. Milo meanwhile finds the newfound power and escape from his frail and dying body as a blessing. Now he is stronger, faster, more full of vigor and life, and more capable than any of the humans he once envied for their able bodies. And so what if he needs to drink human blood to sustain himself…its a redression of the percieved grievance for chances denied him when he was a weak and dying human. The powers are addictive and corruptive, but it’s in the hands of the individual to decide what to do with them. Milo chose to forsake his humanity for the freedom of being a vampire. Morbius chooses to desperately clings to a humanity that he is feeling slipping away from him.
