Many North Americans have gotten used to professional teams relocating to other markets, so many fans are jaded and have lost the sense of ownership, pride, and trust in their pro clubs. The best NA comparison to EU fans is probably found in amateur and college sport, where teams aren't being relocated & rebranded, their games can still produce exceptional enthusiasm and support.

The Catamounts feel like *my* team, a team that I connected with attending the school, a team that I'd run through a brick wall for; even as an alum that connection doesn't die with graduation. I remember once, I went to an AHL game over break. The last college game I'd been to we'd been having back and forth chant battles with the traveling support from the other school (BU) and it was great. In that AHL game you could hear a pin drop except for when they scored...and the only noise with any goals was the horn.
This definitely lacks some Swiss fans. In a normal Season (without corona) the Swiss National League has the highest average attendances in Europe. I especially recommend checking out the fans of HC Ambri-Piotta. They play in a small village (on a game day the stadium usually holds around six times more fans than the village has inhabitants) and aren’t the most successful, but the fans are incredible.
I follow football a lot, and I've underrated the swiss fans by a big margin. They were really good in ths Uefa Euro. Started to watch the hockey fanbases too, they're absurd

I was at WJC last year in Czech Republic in Třinec on game Slovakia vs Sweden and there were few Canadian fans. I'm from Slovakia and we started shouting Slovensko!!!! Slovensko!!! And Kto neskáče nie je Slovák hej hej hej!!! And they were amazed! I was liking them how they liked that game.
I have not watched die Eisbären since they played in the old arena in Weissensee and the atmosphere there was amazing. Very loud and lots of energy towards the game. Think this video captures this for some part. How has the transition from a capacity of 5000 to 12000 been? Are the crowd still able to create a spectacular atmosphere?
I was a referee for a long time and back in the days we’d get little reels that helped us hold a universal standard, and the reels for spearing, buttending and headbutting were always from Eisbären games 😂
Clubs in Sweden are member owned. That means that supporters are in control of major decisions the club makes. A relocation for example would never happen in Sweden provided the supporters are against it. I think that's the biggest part that makes for a more alive and passionate supporter culture. The supporters ARE the club. In NA sports is more entertainment than anything else. In Europe it's a subculture, and a lifestyle.
I think Europe just has the best fans period. They are great in this, football (obviously), professional wrestling. They might only be matched by Korean/Japanese baseball fans.
5:28 Wish Jokerit would come back to Liiga, the Helsinki derby Jokerit-HIFK was probably the biggest rivalry in European hockey. That clip dates back to the time they we're in Liiga, you can't find that good atmosphere in Jokerit's KHL-games.
I base that on the decades lasting hatred between the teams, the players and the fans on each other. The things that happened on and off the ice. Matches between them being sold out every time, the 3 Winter classics between the teams. It is hard for you to understand, because you probably don't know anything about it. Something like Leksand-Brynäs or Luleå-Skellefteå can not be compared.
[ 7:07] God, the wellblechtpalast is filled with memories. Its where it all started back in 1954 up til 2007. the season 07/08 was the last one where we played in the welli. Best moment probably was in 2005 when we first won the trophy.
Could've/should've put fans of former Croatian hockey club Medvescak Zagreb. Their fans even got awards for best fans in Middle and Eastern Europe. (I say "former" because soon it will be 2 years since the club was deleted after financial problems after 58 years of existence)

I had to come back to this video because some fans at the Kings game were crying about the LA Galaxy football supporters for showing up to the match and singing the whole time. Americans can’t ever compete with this. They think they’re at the cinema or library when they go to matches.
I’ve been to 8 NHL games so far in my life including a game in the conference finals and the atmosphere is so dead and almost non existent in some of the games I saw. Mainland Europe has some incredible atmosphere and is better than the atmosphere at games in the U.K., but even the atmosphere at U.K. hockey games is miles better than any atmosphere in the NHL I’ve been a Pittsburgh Penguins fan since I was 3 and religiously follow the team and the league, but the atmosphere is utter shite in North America
The yellow/black fans are Skellefteå AIK fans and the first 1.20 min are Djurgården fans (they are also the ones in orange colored shirts later on) Swedish hockey fans.
