I use Adam’s videos in my classroom pretty often. He’s a wealth of information in manual machining.

When Adam gets to Oregon his #1 project should be making a cannon with Cy and Scott.

Even though woodworking is my thing, I follow two machinists - Adam Booth and This Old Tony. They both produce great content.
PS Not sure if he counts as a machinist, but I follow AvE as well.

@@MadMulberry That'll be tricky. All that I've ever seen is a pair of hands and hear that distinctive drawl. TOT ended his epic video 'Origins feat Clickspring' with the disembodied voice of AvE in the White House back in August 2019

Two of my absolute favorite guys from TH-cam! When Adam was describing his first GoPro mount........on a mag indicator, perfect! I kept hoping, wondering when is Adam going to talk about the shaper? And then he did and I almost died!
My hat is off to Nate and Scott for their great work. I'm hoping you guys manage to get aVe on there one of these days.
    Keep up the good work.

The humility about what you don’t know is awesome. I was a plumber for probably 10 years before watching a plumbing TH-cam and I got by but I’ve learned all sorts of tricks that I never knew before and hopefully helped others out from comment conversations. I try to learn more than plumbing but that just happens to be my trade so I’ll focus more on that.

Enjoyed the discussion. I was absolutely enthralled with metal working and machining in metal shop back in the 8th Grade (1962) but my parents wanted me in college and my love of working with metal got shelved. Out of college with a young family, I started woodworking because the tools were cheaper than metal working. I didn't use my degree for long, and for a time worked in cabinet shops. The last one was owned by a tool and die guy who expected metal tolerances with wood (and the equipment he had was anything but the best). I learned a lot, but never felt like the work was really up to his expectations.

Absolutely correct, designers and engineers should have to actually build, repair and service what they create digitally or on paper. Great interview. Very much enjoy Adam and EC videos. Thanks.

Awesome content guys! There is something beautiful and visceral about creating practical products...knowing a person with these skills is life changing and wonderfully challenging.
I wonder if you all know of Titans of CNC and Titan Gilroy. He has a fun TH-cam presence. He has produced a number of entire training curricula for CNC machining...all free...seems like a really solid dude too.

In my machine shop we use both CNC and manual machines. I learned on CNC and later learned the older machines. Our manual machines are still viable, particularly because we have some huge horizontal mills and a big lathe. They remain in the shop because the CNC counterpart would be incredibly expensive. Anyhow I think it's worth while to learn both.

I believe a huge key to a successful TY channel 1. Interesting to you content, even if you will never have a chance to do yourself. 2. A personality that is easy to watch. If you dont have both, your channel will fail.

    Neat! 😎
Being a big fan of BBQ, and actually knowing a thing or two about it (unlike machining, where I am woefully ignorant 🙄), I’ll definitely have to check out Adam’s other channel.

*Nate - Thanks for the ‘segmenting’ on the video. Very handy feature.

I agree that Adam's presentation and explanation before the work begins makes his videos much better than the majority of makers on You Tube. I get really annoyed when a maker just dives into the project, never explaining what their final product is meant to be. Adam doesn't do that, thus my subscription to his channel.

Few makers of the Old style machines rolling off any production lines of the world. No one puts the quality steel and castings out nowadays. Made in America dates back to just post WWII and then America rebuilt all of the devastated countries of the world and left our mills to crumble to the ground. We did not rebuild America's factories and mills. Now the rest of the world has the modern factories and equipment and ours are all run down. Sad for us.

It is trivial to design and draw parts that are impossible to machine. Of course with metal 3D printers you can make any shape but for many products that isn't a practical way to mass produce things at a low cost.
