Hands down, best video on this project. Previous owner of my E36 just jammed the CCV and ICV under the manifold, which resulted in binding. Now I know how to fix it. Enjoyed The Paddock on Prime as well. Hope to see you guys back on the track soon.
Thank you. Glad you found the video useful. When I was looking into this I didn't find a whole lot of good info myself. Once I had the kit in hand it sort of made sense how it all went together. My recommendation instead of using the factory plastic manifold adapter for the ICV and PCV (11611738629) is to order a billet version from Reboot Engineering. It will never break and it's also fighter fitting than the factory piece. I have since changed that out on mine while I am doing other things with this car. Myself and the team included are looking forward to getting back on track for 2021. Hoping we'll have some big news on our plans for next year soon. 🤙
@@GarethFoley I have seen the Reboot adapter and other billet versions. None have the connector for the small for vacuum line like the OEM does. Where did you route it?

I may have an update to this video because I made some modifications to this kit that made installation even easier. Will drop that at a later date once the car is done. @@GarethFoley No worries! Think you could cover connecting the vaccum hoses, and basically mounting the manifold on the engine as well? Then you would have everything from A to B ;)
@@mariusrisan I thunk I can do a video covering that as well. For the most part everything was pretty simple especially since I deleted secondary air and the vacuum reservoir for the exhaust. All I have now is the vacuum source for the fuel pressure regulator. However, you can pretty much T off of that as much as you want. I'll definitely put something together explaining it in greater detail.
Help great info, did you use the ICV from the m50 mini fold or the s52 manifold? Just curious cause I want to add headers and an intake manifold and want to do it right. Thank you

Can this be added to an m54 engine? I have an 93 325i I have turned into a 1/3 mile dirt oval track car and need about 20hp over stock to stay up front. Headers should get me 5, so another 10-15 elsewhere would be perfect.
Nice walkthrough, thanks for posting. I just did the m50 manifold swap myself, and experienced a vacuum leak. I believe it's coming from the open air temp sensor in the m50 manifold (which is just an empty threaded hole at this point). My m50 manifold didn't come with the m50 air temp sensor screwed in place. Curious to know how you sealed this hole? Did you throw a bolt in there? In the meantime, I just ordered the m50 air temp sensor and will just screw it in (unwired) to seal it up.
@@GarethFoley My E36 is a 99' so 3.2L and i ordered the 540i MAF so i can bring it to 3.5". Am i going to need the plug conversion so it can play along with OBD2? or will it be just plug and play? I ordered the plug anyway but,,,, you seem to be way more experienced so i ask.
The fuel pressure regulator is not on an OBD2 fuel rail. On an OBD2 setup the fuel pressure regulator is located on something called the 3/2 control valve. #9 in the diagram linked here: bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/selectCar/E36/Lim/BMW+M3+3%252E2/USA/16_0203
It's doable but I deemed it not to be worth it since I already had the existing OBD2 fuel rail. The slight modification needed to get the rail to fit the manifold plus the adapter brackets didn't make it worth sourcing the M50 fuel rail. At least not in my opinion.
This is not a direct swap for the M54 engine (what's equipped in your ZHP). The M54 uses a DISA valve in the intake manifold, utilizes a different crankcase ventilation system, throttle bodies, etc. Would not be a direct swap and would require a large amount of effort to retrofit with no tangible benefits. The intake manifold design on the M54 engine with the DISA valve actually provides the benefits of short runner length power with long runner torque. I would stick with what you have.
Yeah, I considered doing it. Only issue I ran into was finding an M50 fuel rail locally that wasn't completely disgusting. I also ran into a time crunch because I wanted the car done last year in time for a specific event so kind of made due with what I had. Naturally, the car wasn't finished in time anyway.
I relocated it to the intake boot. I'm using a Mishimoto ASC delete boot which had two nipples on it which I use for the idle control valve and the intake air temp sensor.
