ROAD TRIP ROMANIA (Timisoara into the Apuseni Mountains)

- Today we start our road trip around the Romanian countryside.
After some stressfull thoughts, we manage to rent a car and drive it to Corvin Castle and try to make it into the Apuseni mountains before check-in closes at our hotel!
Where we booked our car: economybookings.tp.st/GfQVwkFs
It was a stressful start but that doesnt take anything away from how absolutely stunning Romania is and we can absolutely confirm that renting a car is the BEST way to travel Romania.

This day was such a rollercoaster! Still surprised by how it turned out 😅
Massive nests with storks in them, not cranes. :)
@@BOGDANBLUNT 😄 whoooooops
Very beautiful contry.
It’s such a beautiful place - already want to go back 😍😍
see the famous documentaries of Charlie Ottley (who, after discovering the beauty of Romania, moved here for about 10 years now), "Flavors of Romania" and "Wild Carpathia".
Late to the party, but I'll give it a shot. The white stork nests are massive indeed. Big birds need loads of space to raise the chick(s). And they're protected to my knowledge; it's why the power companies have to take measures to protect the birds from being electrocuted (and also the overhead lines from accidental short-circuits), and mount their (existing) nests on those metal structures. Oh, and normally it has to be on the same pole (location) as the birds are quite sensitive to that stuff. Same goes for buildings, as some storks build their nests on top of chimneys, and people have to find solution to both clear the chimney and protect the bird as well.
Ohh that's so cool, glad they are protected and people go to such effort to make sure they are okay! 😊 thanks for all the info!
Guys, you should have visited Deva’s citadel, Alba Iulia, Rimetea, they are relatively closed to Corvin’s Castle. Very nice video. Keep it up!
Oooh! Thanks for letting us know!! 😊
we love getting these recommendations - have a list on our phones for when we hopefully get to come back!
Hi. The fact is the Medieval castles had both the interior and sometimes the exterior walls plastered and painted. So what you saw was the original look. Many times the walls were covered in tapestries or paintings. They didn't left the stones showing, for them it was cold and ugly, especially for a nobles' residence like this one. Many castles nowadays look like they weren't finished because time is not kind to any building, and many times the authorities didn't tried to bring back the old look.
We had no idea! we assumed the exposed brick was the normal look for castle back in the day😅
Hollywood lied to us! Thanks for clearing up that fact for us though! 😀
@@JordanandEmily
Before renovation, Corvin Castle was very gloomy, dark and it didn't look very nice.
Send you love from Bucharest and thank you for the videos and your visit! 🥰🥰🥰
😊 thank you for your comments!
Most movies are Western and Northern European stories where the castles look like you expected the Corvin castle to look like. In "the letter for the king", from Netflix, the scene where the protagonists arrive at a monastery in the mountains, is filmed in Eastern Europe and reproduces the interior of the castle correctly, as is the one of the Corvins that you visited
Please visit Bucharest and Sinaia, there is the Peles Castle (Castelul Peleș), Sinaia is also accessible by train with CFR😃
ooh - good to know! Will add it to the list ☺️
Super awesome for you guys. Hopefully the worldwide travels have got great. Romania is an amazing place and glad you are getting the full experience.
it really is! we hope to come back to Romania one day!
What an exciting/stressful day you had but it all adds to the adventure and it ended up just fine. I’m very happy you’re driving careful as we both know you have precious cargo onboard. Stay safe, miss and love you both, mum.xx 🚙
haha we was very careful - love you miss you!
We’re Americans that drove all over Australia and had the same problem with turning on the wipers 😂 We love the freedom of road trips though (and it’s sometimes cheaper for our family of five)!!! We also drove all over Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, France, and Morocco
😄 bloody wipers! Completely agree, the freedom is unmatched!
You guys should think positive .This is Europe .The driving is on the other side . Don't be fussy ..Enjoy the unknown . It's safe !
guys actualy the inscription "you may have water..." was right on the wall near the well, from where you stood with the camera filming the scene, it was right behind you and right in front of Emily's eyes haha :D it's written in arabic
Hahahaha whoopsies, how did we miss that!! 😂
Siete stupendi Dio vi benedica!❤
Thank you! 😊
Nice video.Thanks.
Thanks for watching! 😊
hope you liked my beautiful country, Romania :)
We certainly did! Definitely want to return some time! ❤️

Ohh I wish we still had the details! sorry! it was on booking.com and we sorted by cheapest! haha
Did you visit Brasov?😃
we did - just quickly though! ☺️
Hey, great video. Can you share where you have rented your car, please?
We rented through booking.com and it ended up being a hertz rental!
@@JordanandEmily Do you remember how much? There seems to be a fee for not returning the car at the same location. (100€). Rewatch your video again. Such a nice video edit.
now you want farmer? collect finish? next tree? water dirty in paddyfield sometime snake water? fix mux(earth)? not machine?
All very good points
*WONDERFUL ! Did you visit Bucharest, the new magic city of the world ? I am living in France , the big sister of Romania since 150 years.*
No we missed Bucharest unfortunately! Already thinking about going back to Romania around November so hopefully we can get there then 🤞🤞

honestly can't believe we didn't think of this 🤣🤣
Sorry you had to put up with our road infrastructure, it's very underdeveloped due to corruption. They've been promising more highways for 30 years haha😂
😄 we were actually pleasantly surprised by most of the roads to be honest! They just got a little bit thin the more we went into the mountains! Haha
@@JordanandEmily glad it wasn't that bad in the end 😁
One of the Romanian's characteristic is that we love to complain and many times we see only the bad things. I drove on roads from Australia to Canada, from China to Argentina and the roads in Romania are at least average if not better than many, many others!
And corruption? For years this was and it still is a political game!
It is a beautiful country, safe and nice and easy to visit!❤
Wtf "Excătorie rutiă" means?
Google translate seems to believe it means Excavation road!
I got confused as well like how someone would write it that wrong.
It is actually translated like that by TH-cam. Their title is actually in english.
@@BOGDANBLUNT that is super weird, we can definitely blame the translation for that one 😄
How do we ACTUALLY say 'Romanian road trip' in Romanian? 😄 we might be able to change it!
