I know a family who were proud to be from an ultra conservative religion, very much involved in all activities. One day, mom left, they said that she's going to work outside the country, then the teenage daughter stopped going outside. Months later, everybody found out that dad and 2 sons feasted on the daughter, it was rumored that she got pregnant and was forced to abort the baby. We eventually realized that the mom brought herself to rehab for substance abuse, while dad and sons didn't. A lot of times, being devoted to a religion is very different from being faithful.

Sometimes we tend to ask too much and too deep questions and doctrines, then the answers confuse us and make us so much doubtful for what we believe in. Ephesians 5:24 (KJV) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
I also wonder sometimes if our faith were mostly driven by fear, fear of dying, fear of the unknown, fear of going to hell, fear of not going to live a beautiful life on heaven after this borrowed time on earth? Is our faith deeply rooted on fear or love? If we don't know about hell or heaven would we still believe in him? If we are unaware of the supreme being would we still want to believe that he exist? If fear doesn't exist, is there love? Is there religion? Is there a belief of someone superior and supreme? I have many questions. But no one could ever answer that. Just him. True, there maybe books, and ppl (his instruments) to convey what he wanted to tell us. But are they 100% accurate? right? true? all the time? I always wonder about that, too. But what's real? A reality made by humans? A reality based on what he desires to happen? A reality of reality? We have a very conscious mind. He gave it to us to always ponder about things, to be skeptical, to be logical, and for us to wonder and explore things.
Maybe you should not only pick the answers you only want to hear. I don't know, but it sounds like you are basing your belief on what you want to do and not on what the Lord wants for you.
Maybe that's why I always tend to wonder abt things. I am having a hard time understanding things he wanted me to understand because I have a lot of friends with diverse beliefs/religion. What should I believe in? What's real and what's not? If my friend no. 1's beliefs are right then my friend no. 2's beliefs are wrong? Vice versa. Maybe I should put more effort and focus on my spirituality so I can hear clearly what he wanted me to hear. 😊

I have to listen to this entire episode on Spotify. It's interesting. Religion is one of the things that's difficult to talk about. We know how sensitive this topic could get. However, it's another thing to talk about Atheism. I hope atleast one of the famous Filipino celebrities/youtubers will have the guts to discuss this. I'm not anti-religion, in fact, I think the world will be messed up without religions atleast in my/our lifetime. I just want thee stereotype about Atheism to be gone. We're not Satanists and we don't eat babies 😑😂 There are a lot of atheists who are in the closet because of the people's judgments.

Hey same here. Even though I'm not not active going to church, I still did not doubt the teachings. The teachings is for our self. It's not forbidding us to take coffee or tea but learn how to keep ourselves healthy.. Though we sometimes make mistakes against the law, be can repent. That what our bishop thought us.. we can always go back. They never forced me to do something... They never judge me when I became inactive .. their all still my loving brothers and sisters.
Talking about Religion is a VERY sensitive topic to touch in the Asian Culture or ASIAN WORLD so to speak, I was born and raised in a very religious family so I KNOW HOW IT FEELS LIKE LIVING A LIFE WITH FULL OF RESTRICTION, you cant do this and that. There is a long list of do's and don'ts, Thank you because this kind of podcast help me realize some things that I think I already know it just needed to be reiterated to me sometimes or I need to hear someone shares that this is the reality or this is also happening to others and not just me so maybe I am not the problem, BUT on top of all of my issues in life, relating to Religion, I still respect the Religion I am in because I think it has become a SIGNIFICANT PART OF ME (HOW I BECAME ME TODAY), I don't regret anything in my past (including being in this Religion I am in) because everything happens for a reason and everything you don't understand will make sense in time, you just have to trust the process and DGAF about the negative noises around. Keep inspiring Wil and Ms. Alyne! Keep moving forward!
I'm an ex-mormon myself, and I'm from the Capitol city of Mormonism. Salt Lake City, Utah. So when I say I quit, I'm saying surrounded by people that worship this way that pressure you to do things not even they understand, I quit. So while people are saying to talk to a missionary or someone who hates the church or whatever, honestly I can give an unbiased opinion myself. I quit before doing temple work, so I probably haven't seen the really weird sh*t she's talking about here, but maybe when I start uploading videos I can talk about what it's really like and some misconceptions...for one they mentioned soda, nobody ever forbade soda or my father would be in hell already🤣🤣coffee is shunned, sex is seen as a sacred thing for marriage so dating is really damn awkward! Like here let's hold hands and try not to kiss because it "gets us on the path to child support" but overall there's good mormons and bad, just like anyone. Easy to tell by the fact that they either try to force you to do things or not. Filipino Mormons are extra relaxed from my experience tho. Kudos to them🤣🤣
Hi Wil, I believe that your content's motto is to talk about positivity. I feel sad for the girl leaving her own faith because of disbelief or misunderstanding. If I may suggest, how about try to interview someone why they joined that denomination? Like why they join LDS? Why they choose to join Born Again? Why they chose to stay Catholic? Why they chose to be Atheist? As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we invite all men to pray if our Church and the Book of Mormon is true. If you received an answer that it's not, then we won't force you to be baptized. I always wonder if every religion think that they are right then they prolly also think that every religion aside from them is wrong. So, If I believe in this certain belief am I wrong in someone else's perspective? What is wrong? What is right? Is there a standard of rightness and wrongness of something in a religious sense? I know it might sound absurd but religious organization might think they are superior than others, that they are more RIGHT than other religion? Tho' we may believe in one supreme being we may differ on our beliefs and rules that we follow. The written books where we based our beliefs have also varying interpretations by different religions or religious organizations. I have a lot of friends with different beliefs, I have a friend of Jehovah's witness, a mormon, a latter day saints, a born again, an Iglesia ni Cristo, a christian ( various christian org) and I am a catholic but I'm never the religious type and not a very devoted christian but I believe in the supreme being. The official name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When a shortened reference is needed, the terms "the Church" or the "Church of Jesus Christ" are encouraged. The "restored Church of Jesus Christ" is also accurate and encouraged. While the term "Mormon Church" has long been publicly applied to the Church as a nickname, it is not an authorized title, and the Church discourages its use. Thus, please avoid using the abbreviation "LDS" or the nickname "Mormon" as substitutes for the name of the Church, as in "Mormon Church," "LDS Church," or "Church of the Latter-day Saints." When referring to Church members, the terms "members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," "Latter-day Saints,” "members of the Church of Jesus Christ" and "members of the restored Church of Jesus Christ" are preferred. We ask that the term "Mormons" and "LDS" not be used. "Mormon" is correctly used in proper names such as the Book of Mormon or when used as an adjective in such historical expressions as "Mormon Trail." The term "Mormonism" is inaccurate and should not be used. When describing the combination of doctrine, culture and lifestyle unique to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the term "the restored gospel of Jesus Christ" is accurate and preferred. When referring to people or organizations that practice polygamy, it should be stated that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not affiliated with polygamous groups.
Kind of ironic that just a few years ago the Mormon church invested millions into their "I am a Mormon" campaign and movie "Meet the Mormons". It's like if Cola-Cola did a large marketing push into promoting the nickname "Coke" then suddenly started saying "Well, actually, our name is Cola-Cola, and while some people refer to us as Coke, that is actually offensive". Come on, it's obvious that it's just a personal preference of Rusty Nelson, and as soon as he's gone the next "prophet" is going to realize what a PR mess he left behind and slowly transition back to "Hey, we're the same lovable Mormons you've always known". So much for "God is the same yesterday, today, and forever" when he can't even be consistent from one year to the next.

To each their own. There is much that should be clarified that isn't here on her former religion. It is annoying to see people interview mostly those upset and leaving a religion than those who believe and are faithful. I mean why ask those questions to them? When they will have there opinions that are from a place of anger and even hate. You want to ask someone truly following the belief too in my feelings to not just have a screwed and one sided take. Just saying. Also each family and environment is different and one person's experience with a faith and leadership in the faith is not representative of all in that faith. I wish her well. As said to each their own. She and everyone has the right to feel and make these personal choices in their lives....free agency.
It's been ages that people interview those believers same with non-believers/doubters and those who converted to other religion. It is ok to ask them why?, their povs. We don't have to agree with them, regardless of where their answers were coming from, we just need to listen and be open.
It's just a personal interview from one person. It would be enlightening to hear from both current and former members of any particular religion if you wanted to get a better idea about what it's like, but that isn't the point of this particular podcast. If you want to get a better idea of Mormonism in particular I'd suggest Saints Unscripted and Mormon Stories.
I’m a devout member of my Church but sometimes the higher ups can be too extreme and stuck to being “yes men” to what the Church leader is saying, almost to the point of force just to please him, that’s why there are a few who are displeased with the pressure they put in inviting guests to be enlisted as bible students just for the sake of record. And when some people criticize the leadership, they accuse these people of being detractors, rebelling against the leadership…. Sometimes I feel they forget being in a church is not about being a dictator but for the sake of serving God 🙃 but forcing isn’t part of pleasing God
This also happened to me. I've got burned out with the mentality of being extremist. Its just that sometimes you know something aint right but you dont know how you would react. Following God or whoever you worship should givr you peace of mind and keep you motivated. Not the other way around.

Thank you for talking about the temple. Yes, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we make covenants in the temple and wear temple garments to remind us of those covenants. I've been married inside the temple and made covenants there, too. As a woman in the Church, the covenant of submitting yourself to your husband as your husband counsels with the Lord is very important and sacred to me. A spouse who is counseling with the Lord for the welfare for his family is a good thing, and I think that it is one of the ways to keep God as the center of the relationship. However, there are times that a husband will not follow nor seek the Lord's counsel which may lead to ruin the marriage, but I keep holding on to the words of the Lord that "God counts woman's tears" (Psalm 56:8). He will be accountable for it when the time the Lord comes.
1 Corinthians 14:34 (KJV) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 1 Corinthians 14:35 (KJV) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Just would like to share here. From what I learned, Religion is manmade. That's it . The key, I think, is don't overcomplicate things. Think and imagine, for example being blind since birth and by some miracle your eyes suddenly can sse and you saw the sky, mountains, trees, ocean--what will you ask? Who created these?--Right!? Certainly not humans. In Scence, there is a tern Fibonacci Sequence/Golden Ration in nature and in hunan. There's only one pattern which means only One Awesome and Powerful Creator. Next question is, who is the Creator who up to now controls everything, even the oxygen every men and women and animals and plants breathe? He gave a tangible clue...His very words in His Divine Eternal Book which is the Hebrew Torah. Nowhere else it is written and directly claimed their deity created the heavens and the earth except this particular book. The most important question one should ask is, "Why do you believe what you believe?" And "Who told you?" The problem with the world is no one bothers to ask what the Creator thinks and feels. Everybody else listens to humans. There are 3 major religions in the world but the root is a righteous man...Abraham. I also think the Creator operates in two ways. Conscience and Karma.

Im sorry but we are not MORMON... The name of the church is THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS.. this young lady is not a GOSPEL convert. She dont truly understand the restored gospel to be honest. Talk to the missionary they are representative of the our GOD... I thinks
Yet Gordon B. Hickley proudly proclaimed that "Mormon means More Good", and Thomas S Monson presided over a church that invested millions of dollars into the "I am a Mormon" advertising campaign and "Meet the Mormons" movie. If God truly spoke through these men then God sure seems to be a pretty fickle flip flopper.

😊

Religion is one of the things that's difficult to talk about. We know how sensitive this topic could get. However, it's another thing to talk about Atheism. I hope atleast one of the famous Filipino celebrities/youtubers will have the guts to discuss this.
I'm not anti-religion, in fact, I think the world will be messed up without religions atleast in my/our lifetime. I just want thee stereotype about Atheism to be gone. We're not Satanists and we don't eat babies 😑😂
There are a lot of atheists who are in the closet because of the people's judgments.
I am a member of LDS,(mormon)im inactive member but i believe in everything they are teaching and preaching,i respect our religion,i just couldnt follow all the rules, but im still an member,i don't feel the need to quit and my co members are still there for me and do not force me to do things that u cannot do❤️ its all up to me
Its all up to the person,no religion can save you❤️❤️
Hey same here.
So sad.
I know that God answer's our prayer and if we truly believe in Him and seek for the truth, He will guide us. ;) At the end of the day, all we seek is happiness and comfort in this life.

I love him maybe not the same intensity as he loves me but I know I did, I do.
But I like going on different churches to learn their differences and have a look on what they believe.

Thus, please avoid using the abbreviation "LDS" or the nickname "Mormon" as substitutes for the name of the Church, as in "Mormon Church," "LDS Church," or "Church of the Latter-day Saints."
When referring to Church members, the terms "members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," "Latter-day Saints,” "members of the Church of Jesus Christ" and "members of the restored Church of Jesus Christ" are preferred. We ask that the term "Mormons" and "LDS" not be used.
"Mormon" is correctly used in proper names such as the Book of Mormon or when used as an adjective in such historical expressions as "Mormon Trail."
The term "Mormonism" is inaccurate and should not be used.

If that's the case, then how do you know which of Russell Nelson's recent words are just his own weaknesses and which are truly from God. Religion is so sensitive. But if you have faith to the one up there☝️. That's it. No need for other matter.
@@thepinoychoppingboard1012 We may not agree with them but it's the content is so one-sided. It's better to see the other side of the coin.
This content is biased.
@@jandv9376 yes very true. I have the comfort that God will handle and humble the leaders Himself lol

This is very interesting lolz :) bc im almost become an lds :)
You are all welcome to the Church of Christ dear (Iglesia ni Cristo). I was a Mormon once and now I'm proud to be a Member of INC.
