I know the track from that album like the back of my hand. And listening to this solo brought on some tears because you could see where he improved upon the points of that solo so long ago. That’s what I love about old music played live by the original artist: that it can be interpreted differently this many years down the road and still improved upon. Fwiw I think every Mayer fam has a soulful connection to Where the Light Is.
@@zacharyalexander9410 Never heard that his voice was pitch corrected! It has always sounded eerily perfect compared to everything else live I've heard. Where did you hear/learn this?
the way the sound feed backs naturally...the way some notes hit almost like they are through a cocked wah or something thanks to position 2...incredible.
@@goodyyy6171I think it’s the neck and the middle, I’ve been playing it like that on my strat and it sounds good, I could be wrong tho. I think as long as it’s the neck and middle or bridge and middle you should be fine 😁
It is bridge and Middle, position 4 . The tune is in position 2 . The first solo is in 1 ( neck ) , and the Final here is in 4 . That s what i hear and i see on his guitar
Yes! This modern age is really "poor" in terms of great musicians. I mean great, not watch me how fast can I play arpegios... John Mayer is a monumental guitarist who can not only represent and replace someone like Gary Moore, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, but at the same time, he can place the same arsenal into the modern era and at the same time occupy the place of a future legend. He is a MONSTER PLAYER...
When I'm sick and tired of the crap on the radio whilst driving. I switch a to John Mayer CD. And problem solved instantly! Great songwriter. *Plus he writes his own songs too* I'll be listening to his music for life. One of the best modern day artists from the United States.
this was super good but go watch the John Mayer Trio perform Wait Until Tomorrow and get back to me on that. m.th-cam.com/video/cS7nkWRKKlE/w-d-xo.html
He's arguably more attractive today than he was in his 20s. I have no idea why, maybe it has his haircut, his smile, his paleness or his fashion sense but young John (2001-2005) was pretty unattractive, I'd say maybe even downright ugly. He only really improved when he started growing his hair out for the Trio tour, after which he's just kept looking better, and today's John is LEAGUES hotter than John from 20 years ago. Dude's aging like a 40 year old first growth Chateau Latour Bordeaux wine
Excellent duo performance. *John Mayer is constantly re-inventing himself* It's like a modern day Johnny Cash and June Carter duo. But this Johnny Mayer can *blaze that guitar away.* 🎸🎸 Awesome John..... 👌
That my dear friends was one of those magical John Mayer musical moments that is immortalized via video. Johny boy lit his guitar on fire! The dude sure has a way with certain women artists. You can feel the sultry steam coming off the state, like wow! Check out his live duo with Alicia Keys medley starting with her Ain't Got You, segues into John's Gravity. . . another super magical moment.
This performance is just among the best performances I've ever come across. John's and Maren's voice have such good harmonic chemistry! The bass adds such an amazing touch to this!
John Mayers always had absolutely god tier bass players in his touring bands. Perfect example is the bass player from the Where the Light is concert/album recording. Absurdly talented and always in the groove
Wow - just looking back couple of years when John had an idea that he mixes the studio output with the video that is taken by the crowd to give a truly "best of both worlds" experience. So happy to see this materialize!
what a gift of god to us is John Mayer so lucky to be able to see him live ( i havent but hopefully will one day ) or just have the opportunity to listen to his music . And this song is one hell of Masterpiece in terms of melody lyrics composition and obviously his voice and guitar solos .
I’ve heard this played a trillion times by TH-camrs over the years. This is the first time I’ve heard it played by Mayer. I didn’t even know it had lyrics.
Takes me back to his first annual Holiday Review in 2007, the show where they recorded/filmed the Where The Light Is live album/video. Mind blowing show.
Hermoso duo. SOS único tocando esa guitarra, tu voz❤️ Espero que vengas a Argentina pronto. Sé que estuviste en Uruguay. También espero que hayas terminado la letra de esa canción nuevo y estoy segura, que va ser un éxito!! . Saludos desde Argentina!!💋🌹
Rarely do I comment, however this is one of the BEST versions of this song! WOW John❣️. WOW Marren❣️. Does not get much better than this❤️🥰. Thank you so much for posting. Love JM live shows, isn’t he the best LIVE???
MAD RESPECT for John, his songwriting & his musicianship as well as his incredible band…..ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! So much better than most of the drivel presented in pop music today….
Haven't heard his voice sounding this good live since Where The Light Is (2007)
but "that where the light is" version is something different, it's more deeply soulful.
its called "overdubbed"@@gregvincenavarrete8916

That one was auto-tuned pitch corrected. This is the best has voice has ever sounded, as he was actually pitchy in the WTLI show

I never thought I would ever hear him sound this way again. A fan of 25 years… I’m in awe his voice came back even this once. Forever a fan.
I saw him live this year solo and he is by far the most talented musician performing right now. He is other worldly.
Incredible solo tone

Fucking hell, that’s some of the best overdrive tone I’ve heard.
Soft as silk, smooth as butter.
That lead tone is so damn good.
Listening to this was a great antidote to watching the grammys last night. This is music. Thank you John and Marren.
LMFAO
Holy moly the feeling in the outro solo

I was at this show!! After marren said "my highschool self just died" john says while dancing "i am 100 years old"😂😂😂 love him
I'd say this is the best JM live performance I've every seen. Vocals so smooth, the tone on the outro solo it perfect. John is a living legend

Bro is in his 40s but still looks as youthful as he was in his 20s.
correction. he looks better. I saw him in sf in feb '22. He was fit, his voice sounded great and he had so much good energy
Saw him before covid at Bourbon and Beyond and he destroyed that set. Bucket list checked off big time

What is wrong with you? Oh, you're filled with Soy. That explains a lot.
Thought the same thing and I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll far to find someone who felt those vibes
about what I'd expect from a soy who's from Australia and likes Zelensky. Maren Morris is about as awful as it gets. Raise your standards
