I still don't see how one can connect a rather small insignificant quibble with someone lacking as a person. It's really not important enough to rise to literal character assassination. The play was awful anyhow and broke canon in more ways than one with the time turner story line. Her being black is the least of its problems, bordering on inconsequential. You'll do your sanity a world of favors if you just consider the books canon and leave it at that. They even changed the race of characters in the big production films too. I just don't see how this gets people hot under the collar. Seems ridiculous, but to each their own.
Alex Yes I know about the Yugoslav Wars. I was saying this is a video game that doesnt use real cities/states. When you have people arguing about the nationality of a fake character that the creators/writers of the game even said didn't matter, that Nico was just "Eastern European with a dark past" that should be good enough. Why even try to shoe horn real events into a game that already played fast and loose with history?

"I don't really have an accent any more" says man in clear, unambiguous South Yorkshire/Humberside accent. (Sorry if I'm wrong and that's not actually where you're from, Brad! ;)
Yea, I meant to say "I don't have my accent anymore" as I grew up in Cumbria, but have lived in South Yorkshire for almost 10 years. I had to alter the way I spoke when I first moved to Yorkshire as I kept having to repeat myself and now it's just become an amalgamation of the accents of the people I've spent the most time with. -Brad
People always tell me that they can't place my accent. I'm from Athens, Ga. (about an hour away from Atlanta), and my mom's side of the family sounds really country. I grew up speaking like that, but it assimilated over time. Athens and Atlanta are pretty urban. In the former, you do encounter quite a few people with drawls, but not as much in Atlanta. I went to college in Decatur (just outside the city), and what accent I still had mostly dropped there. I still retain hints of it, though. It strikes me as funny when people ask me where I'm from and say that I sound like I'm not from here, because I'm one of the few people I know who's native.
Fact Fiend - With Karl Smallwood From Sheffield myself, though lived In Leeds/York/Chesterfield/Devon over my life so my accent is kind of posh Yorkshire with a southern raise at the end of sentences. Back in Sheffield now but the times where my Sheffield accent kicks in are times when I'm with my mum/dad or when I'm with people who have proper thick Yorkshire accents lol.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 It can be retroactively canon though if she publishes another book. Like Dumbledore being gay, which I think was actually made canon in the crimes of grindelwald. Never came up in the seven books with him in it before, but at least she included it in a book later.
J.K. Rowling just likes attention. She could have easily changed things before, but she didn't. She also ruined her universe by saying that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was cannon. It was a nice book, but it ruins canon. In the original Harry Potter series, time travel is self consistent, so even if you go back in time, you won’t be able to change anything. Time turners were all destroyed in the fifth book, since wizards would go mad and kill themselves. In Cursed Child, Scorpio and Albus use a time turner to go back in time and change the future. If they actually worked like that, then Harry could have just gone back in time and killed Voldemort. Don't even get me started on the other things wrong. Here's an article that explains some of the other cannon breaking things: www.google.com/amp/s/cultcrumbs.wordpress.com/2016/06/16/harry-potter-and-the-cursed-child-has-ruined-canon-forever/amp/ On something I care about less that she did wrong: I don't care that the actress who was cast to play Hermione in the play was black. This doesn't change anything important about her, just like Dumbledore being gay doesn't really effect him. However, I don't thing J.K. Rowling wrote the book picturing Hermione as black like she claims, I think she switched the character's race to give more diversity. Whoch is fine, just the claims that Hermione was always black I simply find untrue. Hermione was white in the novels, movies, and a drawing J.K. Rowling did of the characters ( www.therowlinglibrary.com/2015/12/21/is-hermione-granger-white-or-black/ ). If she was black from the beginning, J.K Rowling should have cast a black actress. It doesn't change anything to make her black, just admit she wasn't always black. Edit: I forgot to mention: I wouldn't even mind if they had made Hermione black as long as they didn't claim her race was always ambiguous. "Here is a quote about Hermione from Half Blood Prince. Hermione emerged, coughing, out of the smoke, clutching the telescope and sporting a brilliantly purple black eye. Here is a second quote moments later when Mrs.Weasley attempts to fix Hermione's eye. Hermione sitting at the kitchen table in great agitation, while MRS. Weasley tried to lessen her resemblance to half a panda". Let's summarize Pandas have White Faces Pandas have black fur around their eyes. Hermione has a black eye. Hermione looks like half a panda. Moral of the story, Hermione is white.... or a Panda" Source: scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/105467/what-is-hermione-grangers-ethnicity/105472
does it change anything? very little. but its still really shitty when an author changes races/sexes to pander. it doesnt matter what race/sex they are before, and what race/sex they are after. if you want diversity; make a new strong willed and good character. miles morales. the female thor.
i've read that rowling was only talked to for the main cast. so hermione was almost definitely white in her mind. as for other characters that changed, its not like she would name a black character brown; she would never name a character based off their race. cho chang oh. nvm.
Wow, dude, you must be like the smartest guy on the internet. What would we do without you correcting meaningless spelling mistakes? You are such a positive contributor! Go you!
The thing is, nationality and language are inseparable in former Yugoslavia. See, Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian and Montenegrin are basically dialects of the same language; but, if a speaker says he speaks one of them, then there is 99,99% chance he belongs to that ethnic group - meaning, if Niko says he speaks Serbian, there is 99,99% chance he is Serbian. He could've been born in Bosnia or Croatia, and still be ethnically Serbian. I know it's confusing for someone from GB, when, for instance, Jimmy Carr is considered to be Brittish or even English because he was born in England, even though his parents are Irish.
All i can say is that: After carefully listening over his curse words, he is definitely from yugoslavia, but they should have hired someone from these parts as the pronunciation of some words is terrible at best. But I'd go with Serbia. I am a native speaker of Croatian, our languages are basically the same language with minor differences but we can usually recognize if someone is speaking Serbian or Croatian pretty fast. I think that whoever taught the voice artist that voiced Niko was Serbian. Just my two cents.
Well we know the voice actor was voicing him as Serbian since he said so. But that doesn't change the fact the writers wanted it to be ambiguous and put no direct evidence in the game.
The actor for Goyle was also changed in the last movie from a white actor to a black actor because the white actor (who had played the character since the first movie) had been arrested.
Rowling said she loves black Hermione, and then has her as white in casting and illustrations on the literal covers of her books. Says Dumbledore is gay, then as soon as he’s in a movie about him and Grindelwald it’s invisible. Tries to make Snape, a gross ass human being, redeemable. JK can fight me in a parking lot.
Snape can be a terrible person and still have good qualities and be self sacrificing. People are not binary good/bad, they are complicated. Snape was one of the best characters in the series specifically BECAUSE of that fact.
@@davidtucker9498 idk, even with the redemption Snape in the books just seems a bit meh to me. Film Snape is much better, but in retrospect we could probably chalk that up to Alan rickman, who killed it in every role he did Edit: wrong tense used
I would have guessed Serbian fighting in the Bosnian war.. it can’t all be coincidental. He also gets called Balkan by the Dimitri character a few times
that and he outright shows disdain for my people albanians when he kills dardan ..we were at war with serbia and allied with croatia so yes he is 100% serbian its not even ambigious
some people say he was croatian but it dosent make sence for a croat to show contempt for albanians when we literally send voulneters to fight for croatia during their war and have olways had a good relationship so unless he is that 1 rare croatian who somehow is ok with russians and hates albanians for some reason i guess a albanian stole his bottle of raki he just is serbian and btw its fascinating seeing how it would be like having a playable ex nazi solider...serbs outright comited genocide in bosnia its wierd how double standards work
Ridvan Berisha I grew up around a lot of Serbians and they all said Niko was Serbian because of the way he acts and how people interact with him. To me it makes the most sense
aagain slovenes have had good relationships with albanians and they dident fucking fight in bosnia THEY BARELY FOUGHT so no hes serbian or by a mile long strech russian
i didn't even know there was an argument about this. he is definitely a Serb. I dont know if he is Serbian, but Serb for sure. he says Jebica all the time.
Actually if you want to be proper, even French people don't speak proper French. After all, there are no Vulgar Latin words in French. So that's the entire foundation of the french language gone. Nor any Langues d'oïl in it either. What i'm trying to say is that languages grow and evolve from other languages. So to say that neither side speak "proper" English is weak and hypocritical as no doubt you yourself don't speak your own native language "proper", unless of course your native language is just grunts and animalistic noises as that's what our own speech and the first human languages evolved from.
I'm still annoyed at how stereotypically asian a name Cho Chang is. No one is actually called that, and in terms of Chinese phonetics Cho doesn't exist as a word. Her name can be written with Korean hangul, but it's still a shit name with no meaning. If even an iota of research had gone into choosing the name instead of it being plucked from thin air we would have had a name that made sense or at least sounded nicer.
I could never buy into the Harry Potter mania as unlike Tolkein's works which was rather deep and well thought out and expanded on over time its clear Rowling didnt put as much time and effort into creating her world, once the first book sold i think she got pound signs in her eyes and it became about pumping others out as quickly as possible whilst compromising on quality, she did the same with the Indian girls by giving lazy generic names although not to the same extent as with cho
Thats the thing! Cho does exist as a Korean name, but it is a last name 99.9 percent of the time. How lazy do you have to be to not even check the name of your character?
Why because a person has to have a name from there native ethicity? I guess Lucy Lui, Bobby Lee, and Jimmy Yang are all terribly named by their parents.
Can I just mention for the Harry Potter tangent. There’s a character called Bem. He’s the one from the third movie that details what the ‘Grim’ is. Now while his nationality doesn’t change. His Hogwarts house does. He goes from I think Gryffindor to Ravenclaw and fans made the biggest deal about it. It was probably just a case of ‘oh what house did we put this extra in? Fūck it no one will notice a background character change’. Bem is now our king and we all love him. Go look up the tumblr thread about it, its fūcking funny.
I've been to Bosnia for work a few times, where I've been talking to several of the locals, we were working with. One of them was from Croacia, the other one was from Bosnia. Both of them said, that in the region, all off the countries in the do in fact have the more or less the same language, wich in other countries would be called serbocoratian. In the countries there are always arguments going on, on how the local language is an autonomous language. Still the locals called that bullshit and said, it is in fact serbocroatian with some minor differences. With all of what I know about it, I'd guess, that Nico was born in former Jugoslavia, where he probably took part in the jugoslavian civil war. Since Jugoslavia no longer exists - it was split up in several countries, one of which is Bosnia - it would explain, why he's referred to as someone who has no country.
I find this whole argument funny, because of something that happened during my first playthrough of the game. The first time I met with Brian Meech aka the Cr*ckhead Sidequest character or "This isn't a rock, it's a f***ing boulder", he did a little Russian skit including calling Niko "comrade." Unless the Mandela Effect is in full swing, Niko responds with "I'm not Russian, I'm from Belarus."
I can go either way on revealing things that were previously a mystery as long as it doesn't detract from the thing itself. However I really hate when some fans create theories that are trying to make something fun really dark, which 90% of the time is "Everyone is dead" or some variation like "They're in purgatory (or Valhalla, etc.)". They tend to look way to deep between the lines or twist fun easter eggs into a dark conspiracy.
When you talk about Lavender being the only character to be re-cast in the movies, I can remember another instance when the actor playing Crabbe was re-cast due to the actor getting involved in criminal behavior, ultimately leading to his firing.
For some reason, I have always assumed Niko was Serbian despite never really looking up his back story or reading any theories about Niko. How the hell did I ever come to the conclusion that he was Serbian?
lol I used to spend literally hours just pushing people down the stairs. At the playboy X safehouse there is a stair well with 4-5 flights of stairs, and every time you load there will be between like 2-10 people in there to push down the stairs. There is also some roof tops next to the these stairs that can allow for some pretty cool freerunning/parkour. Seeing how far you can make it away from that roof without falling or getting stuck.
Niko says to Roman "Have you forgotten our language?" That implies that both of them spoke Serbian and I don't know if anyone ever mentioned Roman being a soldier at one point, (correct me if I'm wrong) so that why a lot of people assumed he's Serbian
@Daniel Joce you learn more about them when niko is talking to Kate. He lived with Roman for a while before Roman escaped the war. It's also implied that Roman has siblings and Niko mentions that Romans mother was murdered during the war. Nikos mother is still alive and she messages him on the GTA version of myspace in the game.
Funny that you mentioned the wizard population, i read this part just last night. After that part in the second book when Hermione gets called a mud blood, Ron mentions that having children with muggles is the only way they can maintain their population.
I used to have a strong Cajun (Louisiana, USA) accent. Nobody from my home state recognizes my accent now after I joined the military and spent years traveling amongst Georgia, Colorado, and Iraq
You finally make a video on one of my favorite video game characters of all time and all the comments are about Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling pandering haha
As far as I'm concerned, things aren't cannon to a universe unless they're actually in the story itself, even if the author herself says it's true, or it existed in a deleted scene, etc.
You are much more understandable for those of us that are hard of hearing. Thank you for slowing it down and enunciating more properly for us in your videos.
He is Serbian im sure i remember him saying it and him very often quietly being disrespected by being called Russian, My niko was a hero,, i only killed the people you litterally HAD to kill to complete the game, i was batman with guns, you can ko ppl in gta4 was such a disapointment they removed ko's in gta5, u shove ppl they die
Lavender wasn't the only character to get recast, she was however the only character to get recast (that i can think of) for no good reason. The first dumbledore did what his character does 4 books too early and either crabbe or goyle was in trouble with the law for selling a certain illegal substance.
I am about to go off on a tangent/story so if you’re interested continue reading. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who try to change source material. An example was a girl in my art class years ago who was fuming because Peter Parker in SM Homecoming was white. No lie, she would yell out that Hollywood is white washing Spider-Man and other hero’s even tho their source material said they are indeed white. One day I decided enough was enough and blurted out “yea! I hate that Peter Parker is originally white. Let’s change him despite the source material, while we’re at it let’s make Wonder Woman a man and make Black Panther white!” Oh boy the look in her eyes after I said that was hilarious. After she looked at me confused for a good minute she finally said “BUT WONDER WOMAN IS A WOMAN” I replied with “doesn’t matter. I want it changed.” She then went on how I just ruined Wonder Woman and Black Panther because I want something different than what the creators made. I stared her in the eye throughout her whole speech and asked once she was done “What makes Spider-Man/Peter Parker different?” She literally said because he was white. The next few weeks I preceded to draw Wonder Man and White Panther and would show her. She got so mad that she dropped art. Long story short; she was a hypocrite and I proved it to everyone lol Alright tangent/story over
That doesn't even compare to the argument I once heard that you had be a certain race to write about certain characters. The person arguing it reportedly said it was racist, sexist, insulting to write about other characters that are not exclusively your race, your gender, being handicapped. That's right folks, if you are an author and you wrote a diverse cast of characters, you are immediately racist. If you wrote women characters, you are sexist. If you wrote about a character who was handicapped, you are discriminatory against handicap people. So by her logic, I can only write about Chinese wimpy men. And then my friend who took the class said "Tolken wasn't a hobbit, but he still wrote about hobbits."
Maybe the producers suddenly realized that one of the few black characters' name was lavender BROWN, and they thought "no, no, we can't do that". And they suddenly changed her to a white girl.
The Americans being from England because English point misses because we have a different form of English using words from other languages in place of your standard words, making up different words, or we use the same words in different ways/circumstances. According to the internet, I speak English (American), or American English. I get what you meant, but that was a bad example.
Mad respect to you Karl. Great to hear from someone who actually understands. I was born in America. English is my second language but i had an accent for most my life and i have to purposely try to sound like those in my region or im mistaken for a foriegner. But my accent always comes back thick when im excited or upset and then no one can understand me.
I'm going to be a bellend and say, as an American, sorry, New England American, and specifically central Connecticut (I know, funny word. It's Native American), I've found throughout the years the BBC have tried to pronounce words with limited accent, or the Connecticut lack of accent. Pronunciation is key for getting your point across. Apart from that, I dig what you're saying. 6:44.
There can't be 130 wizards entering the world per year because there are other wizarding schools out there that may have more students than Hogwarts... Up to J. K. Rowling
Here's the thing... Hogwarts doesn't teach math. Snape created a basic logic puzzle that a 10 year old muggle could figure out, but a master wizard would have been completely foiled by... I don't think they know how to count past 50...
Well having a mix of different accents sums up having an American one in some parts of the country because of the great diversity u pick up some things from ppl
@Very Snazzy: You may be certain, but you're wrong. "Spelt" is an accepted past tense form of "spell" and seems to be quite common in British English. It's also a type of wheat, but I think that's rather beside the point in this case.
bloodgain Oh yeah... I guess I forgot, since we moved into an area with such a strong northern (British) accent and sh*t grammar that they only say "spelt," even if the situation calls for "spelled," so the word sounds wrong now that I've heard it used for the wrong thing, constantly. Also, you didn't need to @ me, you can just click on my reply and it'll display my channel name, and notify me since it's on the thread. Unless you wanted to, but then just write "at." However, in the context of this, "spelled" is the correct word. If it was "you spelt it wrong," that'd be right, but that wasn't the reply. I would've accepted this better if you hadn't been rather blunt, and as pretentious and patronising as our government.
Very Snazzy Or maybe you should lighten up and realize I was just razzing you for being so "certain" about the grammar. Also, I @'d you because the web interface doesn't insert it automatically, and sometimes the reply chain gets confusing to readers later if names are left out. Using the @ is just an old habit, and I'm used to seeing it that way. Again, lighten up, and maybe don't assume you have every use case for every person in the whole world figured out. I used to be that kid that got a 100 on every test, screwing the curve for everyone else. I always needed to be the smartest person in the room. I usually still am, but I stopped giving a shit about it. Turns out sometimes other people know things, too, and sometimes shit I don't. You just have to shut up long enough to find out. And dollars to donuts, I have a way better grasp of what I'm doing with technology than you - it's kind of my job.
The only thing that annoys me about Niko is that his last name isn't Bellik. It's written Bellic, but pronounced Bellitch. The -ič end is very common back in Serbia and I assume in the neighboring countries as well. I enjoyed seeing familiar frases and words, and I could definitely see him being Serbian due to his military background, but my God he spoke it so extremely shittily. Which is just annoying: how hard could it have been to have a native speaker just listen to his lines and point out some of the worst mistakes? They aren't speaking gibberish, so obviously research was done, but then they just gave up or something? Infuriating. We Serbians already get a bad reputation in Hollywood, we're always cast as paramilitary villains, fine, but they can't even be bothered to get our language or accent right.
Cho Chang isn't actually pronounced like that, since that spelling is Taiwanese it's different in China the Chinese spelling is "Qiu Zhang" which is actually pronounced like Chyiuh Jang PS her las name is Chang/Zhang so her name in Chinese speaking countries is just Cho/Qiu (秋) and her last name gets put on first, Chang/Chang (張) would go before the given name
I always get a kick out of blowing peoples minds here in the US when I tell them that I essentially have 2 accents lol like it’s a pretty simple concept. I spent a lot of my childhood in Dublin, so I naturally have an Irish accent, but I’ve now lived here in the states for so long that I’ve learned how to speak with an American accent!
Some people are very uncomfortable with uncertainty i guess and will return again and again to it to see if it has clarified - i did that when young but stopped - i think when i realised that the answers to some questions are not there at all - authors could be dead or it may be that the author had left it ambiguous so you could choose your own canon

Wait, so the Potter fandom thought a character named "Cho Chang" was white?! I feel like I lost brain cells just by how stupid that is.
I always pictured Cho Chang as black.
-Brad
It happens! In my time in Yahkshire I developed an apparent allergy to the word 'the'. I'm a safe distance away and fully recovered now.
Fact Fiend - With Karl Smallwood I had to travel 6 hours to get to Cumbria last week lol
I need to just make a whole video on the shit JK Rowling has said or done with her fandom.
K.J. Offdensen total bitch...
Here's an article that explains some of the other cannon breaking things: www.google.com/amp/s/cultcrumbs.wordpress.com/2016/06/16/harry-potter-and-the-cursed-child-has-ruined-canon-forever/amp/
On something I care about less that she did wrong: I don't care that the actress who was cast to play Hermione in the play was black.
Edit: I forgot to mention:
I wouldn't even mind if they had made Hermione black as long as they didn't claim her race was always ambiguous.
Let's summarize
Pandas have White Faces
Pandas have black fur around their eyes.
Hermione has a black eye.
Hermione looks like half a panda.
Moral of the story, Hermione is white.... or a Panda"
Source: scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/105467/what-is-hermione-grangers-ethnicity/105472
does it change anything? very little. but its still really shitty when an author changes races/sexes to pander.
it doesnt matter what race/sex they are before, and what race/sex they are after. if you want diversity; make a new strong willed and good character. miles morales. the female thor.
i've read that rowling was only talked to for the main cast. so hermione was almost definitely white in her mind. as for other characters that changed, its not like she would name a black character brown; she would never name a character based off their race.
cho chang
oh. nvm.
Hermoine is a panda CONFIRMED! Great work, dad.

Lemmy Pop 👆this!
Montenegrin and Bosnian language doesn't exist...... only Serbo-Croatian

Karl “No one ever believes me when I tell them this” Smallwood
I like how the editor decided to leave in the take of him cursing/thanking his mom after he asked to do anther take. Lol. Good stuff.
Please use your actual accent at the end of a video soon
The actor for Goyle was also changed in the last movie from a white actor to a black actor because the white actor (who had played the character since the first movie) had been arrested.
lotuswraith I think they actually just replaced the character with Blaise zabini instead
Yah they just replaced Goyle with Blaise Zabini. Goyle isn't black, it just a different character from the books.
Typical Slytherin
I sit corrected.
Film Snape is much better, but in retrospect we could probably chalk that up to Alan rickman, who killed it in every role he did
Edit: wrong tense used
I would have guessed Serbian fighting in the Bosnian war.. it can’t all be coincidental. He also gets called Balkan by the Dimitri character a few times
that and he outright shows disdain for my people albanians when he kills dardan ..we were at war with serbia and allied with croatia
so yes he is 100% serbian
its not even ambigious
some people say he was croatian but it dosent make sence for a croat to show contempt for albanians when we literally send voulneters to fight for croatia during their war and have olways had a good relationship
so unless he is that 1 rare croatian who somehow is ok with russians and hates albanians for some reason i guess a albanian stole his bottle of raki
he just is serbian
and btw its fascinating seeing how it would be like having a playable ex nazi solider...serbs outright comited genocide in bosnia
its wierd how double standards work
Probably a Chechen tho
Ridvan Berisha I grew up around a lot of Serbians and they all said Niko was Serbian because of the way he acts and how people interact with him. To me it makes the most sense
aagain slovenes have had good relationships with albanians and they dident fucking fight in bosnia THEY BARELY FOUGHT so no hes serbian or by a mile long strech russian
That opening joke was fucking phenomenal.

i didn't even know there was an argument about this. he is definitely a Serb. I dont know if he is Serbian, but Serb for sure.
he says Jebica all the time.
Its spelled jebi ga
6:29 Karl I'll have you know, that us Americans fought long and hard for our right to speak American.
Loooool, you actually speak old school British. It's the British people that changed.
...What are you trying to say? And ofc there's french words in english.
Excuse me its pronounced 'Merican!
I know that but I didn't want to confuse our foreign friends.
Lucy Xu same
I could never buy into the Harry Potter mania as unlike Tolkein's works which was rather deep and well thought out and expanded on over time its clear Rowling didnt put as much time and effort into creating her world, once the first book sold i think she got pound signs in her eyes and it became about pumping others out as quickly as possible whilst compromising on quality, she did the same with the Indian girls by giving lazy generic names although not to the same extent as with cho
Lucy Xu I thought cho meant something in Japanese, because dragonball super is dragonball cho over there
We need a tangent for this right now.
#realaccentreveal
Can I just mention for the Harry Potter tangent.
There’s a character called Bem. He’s the one from the third movie that details what the ‘Grim’ is. Now while his nationality doesn’t change. His Hogwarts house does. He goes from I think Gryffindor to Ravenclaw and fans made the biggest deal about it. It was probably just a case of ‘oh what house did we put this extra in? Fūck it no one will notice a background character change’. Bem is now our king and we all love him. Go look up the tumblr thread about it, its fūcking funny.
I have a sudden urge to go bowling for some reason... hmmm
Don't forget to stare at the beeeeg American teetees while you're out and about.
Greatest channel I've found in a while
I find this whole argument funny, because of something that happened during my first playthrough of the game.
Fun fact, Cho Chang is meant to be Chinese yet her name is just two Korean surnames jammed together!
I’ve recently found your videos and I want to thank you guys for giving me the mildly useless content I need to adequately procrastinate my life!
When you talk about Lavender being the only character to be re-cast in the movies, I can remember another instance when the actor playing Crabbe was re-cast due to the actor getting involved in criminal behavior, ultimately leading to his firing.
That was actually a new character if I recall.
"A man with no country" Yugoslavia.
Eyyy is the man behind the camera scottish or am i daft?
Now I want to hear Karl's natural accent.
I used to have a strong Cajun (Louisiana, USA) accent. Nobody from my home state recognizes my accent now after I joined the military and spent years traveling amongst Georgia, Colorado, and Iraq
I haven't watched the whole video yet and I'm just confused why everyone's bitching about Harry Potter.
So if the “hood” ornament is on the “bonnet”? Where is the bonnet ornament located? And where is the hood that the ornament originally came from?

You finally make a video on one of my favorite video game characters of all time and all the comments are about Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling pandering haha
As far as I'm concerned, things aren't cannon to a universe unless they're actually in the story itself, even if the author herself says it's true, or it existed in a deleted scene, etc.
Is it just me, or does all of Karl's stories start with "People don't believe me when I tell them"
Lol you let his mom yell at him by not editing out that part what a friend

Niko Belić (or Belic as you call him) is a Serb, his last name directly implies that he is a Serb
Or his family was from Serbia, and moved somewhere else.
Let’s change him despite the source material, while we’re at it let’s make Wonder Woman a man and make Black Panther white!”
Oh boy the look in her eyes after I said that was hilarious. After she looked at me confused for a good minute she finally said
“BUT WONDER WOMAN IS A WOMAN”
I replied with “doesn’t matter. I want it changed.”
She then went on how I just ruined Wonder Woman and Black Panther because I want something different than what the creators made.
I stared her in the eye throughout her whole speech and asked once she was done
“What makes Spider-Man/Peter Parker different?”
She literally said because he was white.
The next few weeks I preceded to draw Wonder Man and White Panther and would show her. She got so mad that she dropped art.
Long story short; she was a hypocrite and I proved it to everyone lol
Alright tangent/story over
That doesn't even compare to the argument I once heard that you had be a certain race to write about certain characters.
1
There’s not even a second person there. He’s talking to recordings of himself. Neat.
I find it funny that Niko can't spell or pronounce his own last name correctly.

Pronunciation is key for getting your point across. Apart from that, I dig what you're saying. 6:44.

luke copeland **sigh** First of all (pun intended), no one cares. You're not even first and you couldn't even get that right (it's 40th).
Róisín Grant spelled. I'm certain "spelt" is slang.

Didn't Hugh Laurie have a similar issue with his accent after filming "House"? Or am I remembering this incorrectly?
iirc you're right. he went back to the uk and auditioned for something and was told he was too American.
Cho Chang isn't actually pronounced like that, since that spelling is Taiwanese it's different in China
the Chinese spelling is "Qiu Zhang" which is actually pronounced like Chyiuh Jang
PS her las name is Chang/Zhang so her name in Chinese speaking countries is just Cho/Qiu (秋) and her last name gets put on first, Chang/Chang (張) would go before the given name
That's like John barrowman. He has a Scottish accent with his family and an American accent with his friends.
Some people are very uncomfortable with uncertainty i guess and will return again and again to it to see if it has clarified - i did that when young but stopped - i think when i realised that the answers to some questions are not there at all - authors could be dead or it may be that the author had left it ambiguous so you could choose your own canon
