I love how much the Jackass crew go above and beyond what they need to just because they can. Sure, they could get away with doing this shit on a mobile phone camera, but instead they get the most expensive equipment they can because you don't expect it.
I love hearing and sharing the story of 3D in movies like Jackass and Avatar. It'll be a shame when people start making real 3D movies again and dilute this amazing tale of cinema.
Excuse me, the Jackass game was fun as hell. It was a series of minigames loosely based on stunts they did in real life. There was one where you have to get your character (who is riding a shopping cart).close to the edge of the building without sending him off (or just send him flying off the edge. Another with you in a bubble and if you click the button at the right point your character rag dolls out of the bubble and you have to launch him as far as possible.
The problem with 3D when it went mainstream is that it requires an entirely different approach to filming and editing, it's way more involved than just "film it with a 3D camera". Adding depth perception to an image is makes it so much more immersive that traditional photography techniques can really screw it up, simple things like depth of field need to be seriously reconsidered and used appropriately. And even simple editing decisions like using a crossfade can completely ruin the illusion.
I got one legitimate. Laugh out of movie 43 and that was the tampon commercial with the shark because it was short and it was unexpected. It was timed perfectly. Comically.
The way the High Five just annihilates Bam is perfect. The timing, the noise, the way Bam falls, his breakfast slowly dropping into the bin, Wee Man and Johnny's laugh are all perfect.
Actually, the Red One digital cinematic camera was ludicrously inexpensive and revolutionised, not only indie films but, Hollywood as a whole. So, yeah, whilst it was utilised by Blockbusters, it was also used by cheap television productions and low budget films. Just as with ubiquitous 35mm film cameras of the not too distant past, it comes down to the choices of the cinematographer and their skills how the final images will turn out with a Red, film, Alexa or even Blackmagic cameras. The fact that the DP achieved usable 3D shots in single non-repeatable live takes is the most astounding bit. James Cameron could pretty much do as many as he felt he needed.
No joke, i saw lots of 3d movies when Jackass 3d came out and they were all between "nearly unwatchable" and "really didn't need to be 3d". Except jackass. That one really made sense in a weird way. the way it was edited didn't give me a headache. so yes, 100% onboard
A thing about 3D movies that is really horrible is that the 3D effect is based on your eyes looking the same place that the camera is, so as an audience you can't really focus on what the camera doesn't want you to focus on. In Avatar, there is so much happening on screen, and not just in the center of the screen. It can give you vertigo. Jackass wins because, even beyond the technology, the shot composition is great, and the focus moves around on screen too instead of just staying in the center while action moves across the screen like in other bad films of the time. Tron Legacy was great but it mostly kept the focus at the center of the screen.
it also had a showing at the musuem of modern art which pissed a lot of people off. mainly because they didn't like the idea that their favourite stunt series is pretty much one of the greatest long-running performance art pieces in history. people don't like the idea that modern and comtemporary art is anything but stuffy, pretentious and inaccessible.
I went to the cinema to see Movie 43, it's the only film I've ever left early. I usually like to give films a chance in case it's just a slow starter, but it was eye-wateringly bad. For context, I love Sharknado series and The Room
@@xxPenjoxxWell, get this. "Movie Forty-Three" cost $6 million, the same budget as "The Room". I can't believe that I'm saying this, but "The Room" is the better film to make for $6 million.
hey heres a pitch, remember Shy Ronnie with Rihanna characters from the lonely island album. how about a movie about shy ronnie without audible lines throughout the entire movie except at the end when he delivers the hardest-core-metal-rap verbal barrage about everything we never heard him say....

Tho, Dredd 3D was spectacular. I haven't seen such a great 3D till nor since then
I don't know why, but hearing Karl shooting down that intro idea made me upset. I don't normally comment, but I'm glad someone else felt the same way I did.
Karl should listen to his coworker's genuinely good ideas more often. Immediately shooting down a genius intro idea like that so nonchalantly was a disappointment, and a bad look for Karl as a boss. I don't know if it's scripted or not, but either way, I would have at least considered the idea before being like "... just no."
I know. Like, he said everyone except Seth Rogan and James Franco died in the first 5 minutes, buti would argue Jay Baruchel was the main character. Not to mention Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and the legendary appearance of Emma Watson. And I would contend that even though he had a minimal role, Danny McBride and his gimp Channing Tatum carried that movie.
I saw Jackass 3d in a theater that uses Dolby 3d and holy crap that was a nauseating experience. Dolby 3d was choppy and headache inducing. Luckily by then I've already seen another 3d movie in IMAX which used RealD and it was incredible. I was pissed I wasted time and money on a shit theater for a 3d movie
Love the background and setting of this brand new video re-upload, much more professional, but turning down the disembodied voice's idea for an intro was stupid, not something you should be doing going forward in these videos that go backwards in time.
SNL suffers from the same problem as movie 43; each joke has a mediocre premise that can be good upon delivery, delivered poorly and dragged on 5x longer than needed.
Why do I have to be Steve o is by far the funniest thing they've ever said, to me lol
the mini cannon ball to the nut sack and the diorama diarrhea volcano are two of the best cinematography pieces I've seen
Let's all be thankful the gooch zap wasn't in 3d
That volcano came outta nowhere and I was not ready 😂@@Chalepastel
Karl’s opening of “let’s not do that” fucking killed me with how just deadpan he was
True fact, Jackass 3 had its premier at the museum of modern art (Moma) in New York City and I always thought made a weird sense.
If speckles and lines of paint smudged on canvas can be called modern art, how could anyone say Jackass isn't?
@@SuperFizzah You know little about modern art if you think Jackass would somehow be completely alien to genre.

Tony Hawk Underground 2 was actually the first Jackass Game.
You’re not wrong. Of every movie I watched in theaters in 3D, only 2 were worth it, and felt like it enhanced the experience. Avatar and Jackass 3D.
I saw jackass 3d in NYC at 4 am in a sold out theatre on opening morning. Greatest cinematic experience I've ever had.

One 3d movie that I’ll defend is tron legacy. Cgi was fine to okay at times (especially now) but I was blown away by the 3d at the time
Hugo is single handedly the most impressive 3d movie ever made. I'm a little surprised you didn't mention it.
I got one legitimate. Laugh out of movie 43 and that was the tampon commercial with the shark because it was short and it was unexpected. It was timed perfectly. Comically.
This is the end is a movie you watch once. Because once you’ve seen it once you can remember the entire movie
That's passion over profits baby

As someone who is played by ever-living hell out of Valkyrie profile 2 I can confirm because I also have a copy of jackass

crazy thing about disney is they own a company that makes 3d cameras
Hi, I am Kaiser and this is the Fact Fiend Comments section!
So glad Bam is sober now.

The vitriol they have for movie 43 half makes me want to watch it, even if it sounds like the death of fun.

I liked this style of studio so much better than your new setting, although the content is still top notch lol

Karl missed out big time not doing the jack-ass intro
I don't know why, but hearing Karl shooting down that intro idea made me upset. I don't normally comment, but I'm glad someone else felt the same way I did.
I remember Haley Bary making guacamole in movie 43 lol
Not Gona lie I loved the jackass game. I played it in highschool and have always loved the jackass movies
Here In the Netherlands movie 43 just got released as a clipshow movie. 😂
Why was jackass 3d advertised before movie 43? Movie 43 came out in 2013 and jackass 3d cameout in 2010...
Wrath of the titans was the first and only time I ever saw a movie in 3D , I hated it so much I never went to see another one
The PS2 Jackass game is great
Only 1 minute in so far and I have to mention Dredd 3D as my pick for the best live action 3D movie!
Movie43 the home school scene is a hoot

Does it say something about Hollywood or the demand for 3d
i wish 3d would still be a thing... i hope in 10 years it comes back, and we get 3d displays that don't need Glasses and sht
skaters innovate.
Rare L from Karl on This Is The End. It’s a great movie. I haven’t seen it in a couple years, but I oddly don’t remember many if any fart jokes.

To be fair, the game was fun if not taken seriously - same as the movies!
