I like his stealth ideas especially the hazmat placque to hide the shore power port. Smart to have the security cameras for the sides since windows are not an option. Inside I like how the sink is placed vertically to optimize work space and I like how he put an oven in the kitchen.
It is very nice to see a New Yorker, into the "Van Life". There are a lot of us, we are not all brave to " Come Out" about how we live. Thank you for the tour of your beautiful home on wheels.
@@brownbunny2513 YW. I am a big fan. I would like to join the lifestyle BUT I have fear of NYC and being a Senior. Plus i would NOT know how to start or where to park my home. 😊
I loved this video. What a great guy! So willing to share what he thought were triumphs (stealthiness) & the challenges. He was really interested in helping people who might be in the process of building out their own van or just thinking about it. Well-done!
Very good job Patrick. That was a nice build for a novice. I like the camera for windows idea. Also I don't hear alot of people using the shatter film on the windows which is I think a necessity. I used it on my work truck and it takes alot of work to break thru it. Keep coming bro you do an excellent job and like I said before you let the person talk without constantly interrupting them. Peace
I bought a 21 foot Ford Trail light and hated putting the bed up and down, I’ve had it for a while and last year decided to do something about the irritating bed/table situation, I’ve turned the table into a permanent bed by putting a 46 inch sheet of plywood beneath the mattress and the frame that was the seats for the table, I then made a long narrow table on the opposite side and put barstools to it, I love the look and the feel.
I'll give you that my friend great build I love it I respect anyone who is DIY or could do it themselves who don't have to pay manufacture or pay anyone else to do it DIY is the way to go and it's good to be self-sufficient as I am.. this is in case the grid goes down or the system crashes you can cook you can sow you don't have to build you're not doing anything DIY is very very important. Which is why I love it so much and swear by it..
I’ve saved your video because within a year, I want to have my own “crash pad”. I don’t save very many, but you have much of what I want. Kitchen might be a little too long for me. I don’t plan on entertaining, but I’d like a small sofa area nevertheless. I’ll keep your plan in mind. Thanks and best wishes to you.
Hey Patrick! Another great vid, looking forward to seeing the forthcoming on of Josh's ambulance. Let me know if you'd like to do a walkthrough of my econoline.
It’s not a professional build, but it looks very homey. The kitchen area looks great especially since he likes to cook. The roof and ladder turned out great including the cameras. Thanks for showing it and by the way Patrick your the king of asking questions which adds to the video quality.
While it's a little bit jankey, I really like that interior! I plan on having the same rolling chair, but I'll have a bed lift in the back with a desk and couch on opposite sides underneath. I also love the fully open sliding door area, I'm going to do the same, but have a teak mat on a shower pan covering the entire entryway for a massive nearly 55" by 50" shower!
I couldn’t help but think it would have been so cool to see his current blue dining bench be a jump seat 🤣🤣🤣. The seat used by flight attendants on the plane.
Reflecting back in life....anyone struggling with mortgage and bills should move into a vehicle home. So much easier....at least life is not spent paying bills. Money saved. All RVers and can/ car etc dwellers all the best.
Beautiful van conversion Chad! We have a camper van (Roadtrek), and love your set up! Great work. My daughter is a new flight attendant just out of training and is in the midst of the stressful figuring out her own "crash pad" options. She is based in San Francisco currently, starting her in flight training in January. She was convinced that a camper van was the way to go also but it seems they have height restrictions on crew parking at the airport and don't allow vehicles over 8'2" an all the van's start at 8'4" and taller. Where do you park your van while working? Where do you park it to sleep/live on your days off?
These are all great questions. I wish I could answer. I know he has a wife and a home and the van is mostly for work. He does not have any height restrictions on the bases where he works currently
Thank you very much finally another Brave DIY person like myself I'm sick and tired of the manufactured morons and them fake manufactured people trying to get rich off this.. great video I want to see a lot more DIY people like myself on here..
Can you "park" in long term parking? Like if you got a flu, could you long-term park for three days and drink tea and sleep and get better and not worry? Or are they ALL over that?
It is always sad to see people carrying a propane tank in a van, not being stored in an enclosed locker with gas drop out vent in its floor and having a properly gasketed door with locks. It is interesting to show those videos of people building their own vans but when they do dangerous things, it should be noted so the least amount of people will duplicate that bad idea.
There is a floor level vent right near the tank, which is secured to the wall and floor. As propane is a heavy gas, it sinks to the lowest point. This tank is enclosed in the garage
You get transferred to a new base every month? Good grief what airline do you work for? I was a flight attendant for 10 years for TWA and that is not a thing.
Great job Airline attendant and you're going to save a lot of money not paying high rent rent in New York New Jersey is very expensive I don't pay rent either my life is free just like you baby and I'm debt free this is what we do baby DIY stuck up on food live within your means you'll be just fine.. just like me..
I hope you have air conditioning in that van my friend because today or during the week it's 95°, which means in your tin can it's going to be very very hot so don't lie and say it's nice and cool it is not without the air conditioning that van is going to be very very hot..
No offense my friend but you claim your going stealth well covering the Windows like that is a dead giveaway that someone is in the van.. let's keep it real people are not stupid well most people are but .people like me .I spot you a mile away..
I absolutely love how Chad made the build look like a "work van". The ladder is genius. Installing the farmhouse sink sideways was a pro move too.
Chad has some great ideas
I like the evolution of this build. A lot of good ideas, and I think he succeeded in making look like a work truck. Smart.
Glad it was helpful

I love the ladder/solar stealth idea!
Me too, very clever
He did a great job on the van for a first time van build 👏
Thank you for the feedback
Really well done! Thanks for the showing Patrick!
Glad you enjoyed the tour Annie
This is absolutely great! I haven't seen a NY/Nj build in a min. I'm so glad to see 🥰🥰🥰👍👍
Cool conversion! I like it! 👍🏽

Great photo of Alex by his van with the NYC skyline in the background.
Thank you for checking the van tour out
It may not be a professional build, but it's homey. Love the hazmat idea.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love that sink idea to turn the sink!
Yeah, it makes a lot of sense
I'm in NYc. We're experiencing a bit of a heatwave. I'm praying he has a source of air-conditioning. Weather can be brutal In the summer ☀️ 😮💨
They are doing just fine. Most leave and take their vans on adventures on the weekends to the Catskills
I have the Zero Breeze Mark 2 portable AC unit
I like the door to the cab, more wall space.
It’s a nice insulator too
Thanks Patrick
Always Enjoy Your Videos

Design to fulfill your needs …. Excellent and safety conscious!

Nice job, Chad!

Nice build
Thank you Pam
Look at "Rev a Shelf"
Add slide out shelves & drawers. Helped me a lot.

@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures yeah for sure, I know my electrical is gonna look like a eagles nest lol
Wow! Super nice build! Beautiful construction and outfitting! He could go into van building if he decided to stay on the ground! (Jane)
Thank you Jane

That would have been really cool
Great job
Lots of lessons learned but one question -- where is the beverage cart?
Glad it was helpful. That would be awesome to repurpose one for a van
There are tool rentals from hardware or non profits.
Good information
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 his van is perfect I'm getting a lot of ideas .✌👨🍳🎅🚌👍
Glad it was helpful

It can be a good alternative for many
Great van! Nice guy! Super curious about that laptop arm. Please share if you learned the name! Thanks Patrick 😊
Will do! I don't recall.
Can you interview the Nissan 2500 parked behind this van? That's what I'd like yo convert.
I woods love to, no one is ever there
Question
How can you be sure that the van is not stolen while you are gone on a flight?
He has some security measures and tracking devices

I wonder if he knows #Samantha R Olmsted ? She's a you tuber and a flight attendant in New York 👍
It’s possible
I do know her, she helped me a lot with my decision to transfer to NYC

Do you have space for 20 more vans? My whole group is driving your direction as we speak.
Can you "park" in long term parking? Like if you got a flu, could you long-term park for three days and drink tea and sleep and get better and not worry? Or are they ALL over that?
Why no toilet/ shower? After long flight a quick shower will be perfect!!. Otherwise really good job..!
Van life Is perfect for flight attendants. You can leave your cars in the airport parking Lots.
It really is
Great ideas for stealth. California in some cities like, LA, it's against the law to stay in your vehicle overnight.
wow
Thank you 😊
Nice
Thanks

Definitely not however the city is big, spread out.
Good for you Bro. Thanks for the tour. And for all the haters….post a video of YOUR van instead of all the shade. 🤷🏽♀️🤓
Glad you enjoyed the tour
An automatic manual transmission...? 🤔🧐🤷♀️
Very unique

This crash pad is a real money savings
Not really full time, sounds like he has a house and a wife somewhere and the van is just a crash pad
Film time mostly
This looks like it smells
He keeps it clean
Get ready for the smell
The smell?
