No Peter what is true is that big auction houses control the market even if you have a good piece but you are not in the collectors friendly circle or in some type of a high profile Group of people , Big galleries won't accept your items They rapidly invent a story to discoure people to end up selling on eBay or this Small galleries were good pieces sell for pennies to those same experts ..Yes it is all a scam and a way of robbery, I know what real professional evaluations looks like, Done from different countries, And I know this galleries won't give you one,, They propaganda are they own websites inciting people to send pictures for a evaluation that you will never get ever ..Only refusal of your items with out a professional explanation.. It is a scam a rip off to make you lose your pieces , To regular collectors with out any high profile connections, for this professional scamer you the regular Don have the rights to sell anything of values on they platforms ..

Thank you Peter! Love to see you redo this video to keep up to date the information. I stopped buying and dealing in Chinese porcelains because the fakes have been so good and the money is just so high for pieces and the fact that even Christies gets snookered every now and then makes me think, how can I ever avoid the risk?

Thank you. Good range of examples and a speed is also good. Especially useful for me are the parts were fake objects and real are put side by side. Surely for you a lot of thongs would be kind of obvious, but I am a total beginner in Chinese porcelain and it takes some time for me to pick up all these details. Your videos and your programs are very important and are very good. I learn really a lot from them.

Peter, thank you very much for the information you gave me. What I don't understand is why technology is not used. Apart from honest porcelain experts, dishonest people can tell everything about the age of the porcelains. I wonder if it is not in the interest of the big auction companies to conduct such a test. Or are some people buying antique porcelains cheaply, saying they are new, calling them fake, or selling them for very high prices, saying they are fake? My last word is that all porcelain products should be detected with technology.

I think some big auction houses do started to use technology, but I don't think technology would work on telling real or fake on Chinese porcelains, no offense, but I think Peter can only tell some fakes, when it turns to recent 1:1 fake, even some Chinese experts would be fooled, the fakers would tell you it is fake, but they would also sell it to you at extremely high value price, not as high as the real one, but high price comparing to low fakes. Nowadays, they are using the same soil, which contains the same chemical elements, as the original ancient soil, and paint the way the ancient people did, they don't even use gas to firing the porcelain, which would cause the glaze differ from the corresponding ancient porcelain, instead they use wood firing, which is very hard to control the temperature. these process would cost them much time, energy and money, and some of the finished one did fooled big auction houses like Sotheby's, and it has been proved. authenticating the Chinese porcelain is what we call "visual art" or "visual testing", it base on feeling, these feeling was from thousands of touching and viewing.

So fascinating! I have a large floor vase that I obtained at an estate sale over 10 years ago. There was no details on elderly lady. I don’t know how to identify it properly, and certainly would not know how to tell if it is real or not. I don’t know where to go to find out if it is real or not. Is there a place, website or professional that I can contact, to have it verified. I would love to just be able to send pics/video and measurements to the professional.

It is nice watching this and being able to clearly see none of these are convincing pieces, my perseverance in this field has paid off I guess and am able to find and buy interesting things. The stuff that is much harder to tell is what concerns me though, like some of the Republic style modern pieces are getting very good. I do not go anywhere near some blue and white though, like late Ming, I think stuff like Kraak ware for example they have been producing very convincing fakes for quite a while.

Peter, Imperial pieces are exported from HK on a regular basis - Just Ask the 3 Main Auction Houses!! AND they are NOT Fake! That said, outside of the 3 main auction houses, and advertised as Imperial and for sale in HK, then you might well be correct - Fake!

It is also what you want to make of it, from your own perspective. If you become knowledgably enough in the areas you like you can then build a collection of genuine pieces, it just takes years of experience and learning.
