There's an interview with Kristofferson where he tells the interviewer that he walked onto the stage and told Sinead O'Connor, " Don't let the bastards get you down."
Kristofferson didn't save O'Connor, he stood in solidarity with her. She saved the performance herself. And she was pissed at Dylan. She glares at him - he's standing in the wings. Dylan does nothing, says nothing to her or the crowd - his crowd.
Sinead O'Connor wasn't fearless she was terrified, terrified of the harms that were happening to people. She bravely stood in that fear and refused to be silenced.

Well Dylan the protest singer was long gone and however boisterous you may have seen him in 60s clips he actually has a timid streak.
She was truly courageous!

Kristofferson encouraged Sinead and embraced her as she ran off stage, but no-one saved her. She bravely stood tall against a stadium full of hostility (can't even imagine it!) herself.
Heartbreaking event. Dylan fell out of grace permanently. No balls, loser first class.

They say you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. Kris Kristofferson, Willy Nelson, and Peter Gabriel to name a few leads me to believe that she was worth knowing. The renditions of Don't give up with Willy and live with Peter singing Blood of Eden are quite touching and sung perfectly. RIP Sinead.

I bow my head for Mr.Kristofferson for many reasons, mainly for the movie "Heaven's Gate"
Don't forget Lou Reed a while later at an other benefit. Where all the artist were in one room and none talked to Sinead. When Lou came in he ignored all the fellow artist and only talked to Sinead. A great statement at that moment.
Sinead has the right to oppress her opinions. The crowd has the right to express their different opinions. Kris was not brave to help her. He was just Kris. I can't think of any situation that will get him stressed out.

There is a second part in this story, the opposite of Kris Kristofferson's courage there was the cowardly behavior of Bob Dylan, who did not have the balls to confront the crowd. She was a young woman, his guest... An incredibly mean behavior. “I feel like Bob Dylan is the one who should have come out and told his audience to let me sing. And I’m pissed that he didn’t. So I glare at him in the wings as if he’s my big brother who’s just told my parents I skipped school. He stares back at me, baffled. He’s looking all handsome in his white shirt and pants. It’s the weirdest 30 seconds of my life.” Rememberings, O’Connor.

Bob doesn't always do the right thing. And Five years later, 1997, in Bologna, Italy, Cowboy Bob sung and tipped his white hat to Pope John. Kinda two peas in a pod. Both Dylan and Pope John used the youth conference to their advantage.

What’s interesting to me is that when Bob Dylan came out to sing at a Joan Baez before he was famous the crowd started booing him and Joan Baez shut that down right away and told the audience to listen to him.
I had forgotten this event. She had every right to her opinions. Kris has always been spoken of as a good and kind man, loyal to his friends and forgiving, as he was forgiven by loved ones, other’s youthful indiscretions. He proved himself a gentleman once again.

I remember that night so very clearly, my heart broke for her. It was appalling but I had huge respect for Kris Kristofferson for coming out to her and staying with her.
I understand her actions of the night before but I believe a lot of people were unaware or blinded to the darker side of the church. However many of us in Ireland did understand her and remained staunch supporters.
Her death has hit hard and I am so sad that she has left us.

Fibromyalgia is no joke. It is pain throughout your body, and it can begin in your childhood, from trauma you have encountered. More people need to learn about this. It’s horrible to live with.
I have very painful every day. Flares especially bad.

It's a really hard thing to watch, all that booing. Sinead was amazing!! What a warrior Sinead was! Her composure under such duress was the stuff of legends!!
I wonder how many of those folks who BOOED her later praised her without saying they were sorry and offered up their OWN atonement. Some folks are cowards. Sinead was incredibly brave - if not fearless and determined to speak truth to power. Life always follows death, and soul is eternal.
He had her back, as they say in England. Well done, for standing to him for standing with her. He knew there was more at stake giving into the bullies. She was proved right in the end. The public funeral procession in Bray, swaying along to Bob Marleys Natural Mystic was very sad and also celebrated her unique talent. A fine tribute, on her last journey.
It did bring me to tears and also I had goosebumps, I had played the same tune the day before.

Sinead has struggled greatly with the loss of her son who killed himself at 17 a yr and a half ago.

At some time in our lives,we will be bullied,going through injustice and suffering even from our family.If we are mature and loving,we will do things in constructive ways to help other who suffer the same fate as we.We will not add to the trauma by all these destructive unprofitable ways.

The recent homage to her by the movie "Nothing Compares" was shortchanged without showing her performance originally singing her breakout song, "Nothing Compares To You". It was not allowed for use because of the in fighting of Prince's relatives over his will. That in fighting continues still to this day, years after Princes death.

I've lived with Depression all of my life. I've been "booed" in a different way and I can tell you, it's heartbreaking. Life has no rhyme or reason. We all really need someone to love us-al.

KK had daughters her age. Also he is a guy who fights against bullies. Listen to his songs about Central America and the CIA. He is his own man. He is a very stand up guy. I was very glad that he helped her. That was a very classy thing to do. Everyone else acted like assholes in that situation. Including Bob Dylan. As for what she did on SNL....good for her. I advocated for abused children. So many of them were children who were of The Church. They were profoundly abused. The Vatican and The Clergy hid out like the cowards that they are. I am Jewish. The Jewish System doesn't deal any better with Rabbinic Abuse either. All these Religious Institutions have to be forced by Legal Action to deal with these issues. And quite honestly she was Irish and Ireland has a long history of not dealing with Child Abuse that comes out of the Catholic Church System. I was sorry to hear that she passed. She was very much a survivor of abuse, including Incest. She had all of the physical and emotional issues that children and adults who have been severely sexually abused have. If you've ever listened to the stuff that Kristofferson has written that never made it to the radio, you will realize that he's quite the rebel himself.
Given that this happened the night after her now infamous SNL appearance in 1992 you have to ask yourself 1 question.
How many of those people booing her that night even had any idea WHY they were booing Sínead O'Connor as they were swept up in pack mentality & merely following the crowd.
But they did it anyway.

I never heard this story before but it doesn't surprise me. Kris doesn't care what the crowd says or what other people think. He's going to stand up for what he thinks is right. That, and about a million other reasons, are why he's one of the coolest dudes who ever lived.

She spoke out about the abuses of the Catholic Churches when people didn't want to believe the lil boys and lil girls who grew up and finally used their voices as adults to tell the world of the real hidden graves and all the kinds of abuse the Church allowed to happen to the innocent children that was turned over to their care, to this day people still defend the Catholic & Christian churches /charities but not the children who were their victims to be traumatized for life!
Saw this incident for the first time 3 days ago, instantly disgusted by Kris's defence of this attention seeking agitating hypocrite, a talentless one at that. He died less than a day later, well well.
Thank you for standing up for people who make a statement against oppression and abuse. Yes, I always admired Kris as a defender of decency and resistance against hate.

Sinead was a lioness. The world had heard her roar. She had tons of courage for one so young. The crowd booed at her. She calmly stood her ground and even managed to sing her song and only stopped singing when she made her point. The tears only come behind the scenes. It must have been hurt like hell for someone with so much sensitivity.
Kris Kristoffenson was standing by Sinead when the crowd was against her. That took courage, compassion and integrity and bespoke of the stature of the man and one true friend. No rat for sinking ship here. Sinead had at least one staunch ally fighting in her corner.

When she was at her worst a few years ago when her child was kept from her the only people that were there for her were her fans on Facebook who she talked to a lot and everyone offered her a home. Her family weren’t there and neither were the music industry so stop cashing in on her death
