For those of you, who have remained disappointed by this release: "Clear is an experiment to explore all of the different writing styles in the band". That kind of says it all. This EP was just an experiment, it is not an indicator of Periphery's future, just something apart from the rest of their releases. I think that "Clear" was an interesting idea, because it's quite healthy for bands to detach themselves from the usual stuff, their fans get acquainted to.
At first, I was like: I really hope this isn't their future, but after reading that little snippit, I hope they do incorporate SOME of the writing style in this EP in a later album.
A lot of it's in 5/4 though, and we all know that is blasphemy!!!!! You can't dance to odd meters. What is this, math class?!!!!!!!!!!! Haha nah I agree though. great song.
The best part of this band is how it illustrates what music really is supposed to be. Every genre is only an element of pure music. In this song you can hear blues, funk, pop, rock, soul, metal. There's a lot there. It's like musical Dr. Pepper.
congragulations for all persons in the band are very good wow I can not stop listening to this I think of old songs *.* is just fantastic guys I just know them and they are amazing keep it up!
this is Periphery. there's nothing new either different from the other 2 albums. same vocals, same riffs. not going softer is the only thing I truly apreciate
We all know this album around for free download in lots of places but I do want to buy this just because it's that good. I'm glad they put it on youtube, because now I know I'm spending my money some somethig i like.
as a bulb fan, zero is my favorite automatically, but all these songs are pretty cool too. especially parade of ashes. its cool to see what the all the members bring to the mix.
Actually this was an experimental album , and I think they pulled it off . Like any music it grows on you as you listen to it more. Really these guys have shown their diverse music composition and arrangement capabilities. Jake keeps inventing these awesome obscure progressions and Spence is tapping into to his vocal range which is really what I have hoped for............Great Job guys ;)
Am I right that there's the phrase "We suddenly ask if this ride is worth line?" Very summery song, especially when you start talking about rollercoasters.
I'm glad they picked Parade of Ashes though, it's really catchy and Sirius XM plays it quite a bit. It's my favorite off this CD. My favorite Periphery song is Epoch though.

It's a little different than PII, but I like it just as much. It is very fluent. Not that I think the past albums had bad fluency. This song just feels very coherent and has a distinct feel to it. It lives up to the summer jam title. I like the new nuances in the song. I like the harmonies e.g. @ 0:36-1:04 and the little delay thing @ 0:18. I also really like the crisp vocals @ 1:18.
RandyPWNZ im not sure how Sumerian works or what the contract is like for Periphery but mos bands dont get much from albums, their primary source of income is from live shows and merch
HammersmashedTaco The first week sales of a bands release determine alot of things for them. Better first week sales mean better tours, higher guarantees etc, the label basically uses that number to determine how "important" the band is to people.
I remember when I was close minded in high school. anything besides my favorite, was garbage and worthless. but now that I've been there and done that as far as music goes, I've started to progress to less death vocals. I love how periphery can be so heavy amd confusing, and bust out a great vocal and instrumental hook with clean vox. I also like that the clean vocals may introduce many "non metal fans" to a blend of music that satisfies my own personal technical, heavy, and extended signature demands, but also with vocals that people can umderstand, and actually enjoy hearing it. that opens doors for mainstream crowds to gain more interest in that type of music, and show them that not all metal is satanic death steriotype. there is passion and meaning in this music, and instrumental they're great, and Spencer has an amazing range of both clean and scream he hits them notes and can heave a brutal curlding death growl. and also has a voice that could probably drop a few panties. I love the heavy ruthless relentless shit just as much as the next guy, but I've opened my mind to slightly different music, and I'm so glad I did. Learn to appreciate not only what you favor, but even what you dont like period.
Jake, a more light approach, almost more Prog Rock to be honest. Reminds me of SikTh and Animals as Leaders in a way. Not bad, and this was cool. Reminds me of RnB, Jazzfusion, and Michael Jackson at like 1:161:32 This was cool, now onto Matt's song.
"Coldest nights sometimes give way to brightest skies of blue" I live by these words, so meaningful to me. In fact, to everybody at a certain level
For those of you, who have remained disappointed by this release: "Clear is an experiment to explore all of the different writing styles in the band". That kind of says it all. Agreed
still good anyway
At first, I was like: I really hope this isn't their future, but after reading that little snippit, I hope they do incorporate SOME of the writing style in this EP in a later album.
True, I really enjoyed this EP, even though it sounds a little bit "pop-ish".
This EP is fucking awesome, not a single bad song! Not like they had any bad songs before either but well, the point is i love this EP! :)
I don't know how anyone wouldn't like this vocalist, he's so freaking good!
I truly don't see Periphery being able to go wrong unless Spencer leaves. [NEVER FUCKING LEAVE!!!!!!!!] One of my favorite bands ever.
Don't jinx it! D:
It's impossible to Djinx a band this golden. :3
OnyxTheOmega -kills self-
No, I'm gonna kill self.
What?
da?
FOOK?
NYUKKA
Spencer's vocals at 3:09 gives me chills every listen. Love that shit!
it sounds catchy enough to be on the radio
There's a lot of stuff catchy enough to be on radio that isn't, you gotta be on a major label.
***** Well how about that, OM&M sucks though.
A lot of it's in 5/4 though, and we all know that is blasphemy!!!!! You can't dance to odd meters. What is this, math class?!!!!!!!!!!! Haha nah I agree though. great song.
Being catchy is sacrilege in metal, dontcha know?
"Clear" is absolutely amazing and is very unique in my mind. A very enjoyable listen!
The best part of this band is how it illustrates what music really is supposed to be. Every genre is only an element of pure music. In this song you can hear blues, funk, pop, rock, soul, metal. There's a lot there. It's like musical Dr. Pepper.
I prefer musical Mr Djibb 🥤
favorite song on the album right here. And one of my favorite periphery songs.
OMG! Absolutely brilliant ! Jake is such a good songwriter. Also 2:51 that's the theme of overture, no?
I've loved this song from the moment Clear came out. I love it even more today.
"Stripped of ground by the hands of those who have built"
Bravo Spencer, that sounded sick
I can already tell that this song and pale aura are my favourite tracks on clear
Parade of ashes 🔥👌
Jeezzzz this son is just amazing !!! I like how Jake design his songs, like all new materials!! my periphery fav song.
congragulations for all persons in the band are very good wow I can not stop listening to this I think of old songs *.* is just fantastic guys I just know them and they are amazing keep it up!
sounds almost like an earth, wind and fire groove (with the vocals mixed) with a plini song, but there's also so much periphery in here :) I love it!
Contrary to what pretty much everybody else is saying, the vocals on this song are some of the best I've ever heard and I fucking love it.
3:10 is so good!
Is it even possible to be sad while listening to this
why would you want to be sad listening to this? lol
Greg Rocheleau He's saying, it's so happy :P
Braeden Alter Lol its a girl...
I think this needs to seriously be the new summer song. It's the perfect jamming in the car on the way to the beach/lake song.
Popabuddy1 Hahahaha
The Sumerian Jam.
not anymore
@@lila3028 Yeah-huh.
I keep on growing more impressed with these songs.
Love the song Jake!! Absolutely fantastic album.
Jake's and Mark's songs are definitely my favorites. Awesome stuff guys!
This is the song with the best vocals on this album hands down. especially at the end. good job periphery.
this is Periphery. there's nothing new either different from the other 2 albums. same vocals, same riffs. not going softer is the only thing I truly apreciate
The first line gives off such a strong Coheed and Cambria feel, I love it!
Is that why I like this song so much? Lol
This song is perfect for January in Australia.
This song is so nice
One of my favorite Periphery songs.
Dude, i swear to GOD PERIPHERY AAAAAAAHHHHHHH GOD DUDES THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL METAL.
Does anyone else get a Coheed and Cambria vibe vocal-wise in the first half of the verses? Mainly In Keeping Secrets era Coheed?
no insult but I hear Michael Jackson influence
John Arnold that's not an insult, that's the best compliment anybody could receive!
John Arnold holy crap! i thought i was the only one who heard that!!! that's true
Totally. I dig it.
Isaac Gamage I'm guessing you're the kind of idiot who only likes death growls and pig squeals and anything else isn't "manly" or "true metal".
Ufff this rhythm is killing me!... I believe all the new songs are amazing... Congratulations jake!
Love the time signatures on this song..
Coming back to this, this is so well written! Jake
Love Spencer's vocals... I swear he used to sing in a choir or something. Great song :).
Jake's guitar works sound so nice! Melodious man!
So much love for the ending melodic guitar sound a la The Edge from U2
fave song!
The last part is so fucking groovy. That E5 is just the icing on the cake.
The Summer Jam will be the summer song for me, no doubt
it is summer finally now so yeah same with me
Jesus Jake, so many riffs in such a fast song! It's a real bitch to learn haha
man first time listening to this album and the first 2 songs make me really want to go out and buy it now.
my favorite song off this ep
We all know this album around for free download in lots of places but I do want to buy this just because it's that good. I'm glad they put it on youtube, because now I know I'm spending my money some somethig i like.
The Way the News Goes Prequel.
This is just too good.
Loving the poppiness in the groove!
I've just decided. This one is definitely my favorite!!!!
Wow this sounds so much like Periphery 3 it's unbelievable
I'm hearing Coheed and Cambria.... and I like it!
For some reason I get an 80s rock/pop vibe from this
The drum track on this is amazing...
as a bulb fan, zero is my favorite automatically, but all these songs are pretty cool too. especially parade of ashes. its cool to see what the all the members bring to the mix.
Such a catchy song, great job Jake Bowen
Love it. Jake even added a possible Overture snippet at 2:51 ish
All the songs have snippets of that section of Overture in them.
super sweet solo!
I can't wait for my preorder to come in even more now.
love this song
This song is so happy and epic like I don't even know.
So far I'm loving this EP, Tuesday needs to come faster, Periphery never disappoints :)

I'll buy it when It comes out but I need this now omfg
0:14 - 0:23 vox are uber coheed and cambria...love it. good album overall!
Damn, those guitar riffs are killer. What a saturated tone too. I'd love to hear Matt's drum take on this one live.
Proto Drumanoid
I would love to die hearing it if that's what you mean.
Proto Drumanoid
Exactly.
The drums were actually programmed on this...
Robert Percy
I know, that's why I'd like to hear Matt's take on it live.
music is the key to living
I love how this song makes me so extremely happy:)
Definitely my favorite song off of clear!
why.. is this.. making me … so… happy!?
This is metal for fuck's sake!!!!
No complaints here!!!! Well done!
Am I right that there's the phrase "We suddenly ask if this ride is worth line?" Very summery song, especially when you start talking about rollercoasters.
"We suddenly ask ourselves if this light is worth falling"
I feel like i'm you're taking me through a really difficult level in Sonic the hedgehog. I love it!
Listening again in 2022
The vocals here are super reminiscent of Coheed and Cambria.
That bass tone is sick...
I'm glad they picked Parade of Ashes though, it's really catchy and Sirius XM plays it quite a bit. It's my favorite off this CD. My favorite Periphery song is Epoch though.
I think that this song is awesome
Greets to all Periphery fans from Göttingen Germany!
This is fantastic.
The riff at 1:37 is literally one of the coolest things I've ever heard
Matt Halpern is a beast the rythym section in this band is amazing.
Gracen Soultaire The Drums are Programmed in this song.
@@JoelSebastianMoreno Matt still plays everything...... Programed or not fam

I love the harmony choices used on this whole EP. Definitely gonna pick it up when it's available.

This is so amazing!! Such inspiration
The riff at 1:38 will always be in my top favorite Periphery riffs
That chorus is a fucking success.
that intro riff is fucking glorious
Loving the new material. TH-cam should really cut out advertisements on album streaming playlists though.
Just get AdBlock, Bro.
Filips Krauklis
And then Periphery/Sumerian wouldn't get revenue from the video. Just as bad as illegally downloading the album.
GRLidstone TH-cam's not the one that picks videos to monetize, the channel owner is
Filips Krauklis Wait how do you get that?
GRLidstone
Yeh, no. Considering each ad is just a couple cents USD... a little short of the cost of an album.
Wow, this is really impressive. Didn't give periphery 2 as much time as I should have. Vocals are reminiscent of Protest, This is very cool.
yay for youtube converters! i can have this album on my itunes now
or you can just go to getmetal.org and download it for free...
Alec Richter Or you can just buy the album when it comes out and support the band....

Strangely...this is my favorite track off of "Clear" . Sounds like a path periphery may be headed in the future.
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
