    I've just made this, with much less sugar, with apple cider vinegar and a bit more water and this is the first ever vegan cake that I succeeded with. So moist and creamy, it's amazing!

    I just made this cake for the 2nd time and it is an OH-MY-GOD kinda cake! The first time I tried it came out so moist it broke. So...I suggest that prior to adding the filling: 1) you let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 min 2) Once it's on the grill let it cool it for 1 hr 3) Only then, when it's completely cool, add the filling. If you use the skewers when it's too hot the cake will attach to the skewer. It's so good I didn't even try for the frosting....also as to avoid a sugar overload ;) Thank you so much @ Baking Cherry!

    I just made this Wednesday for my daughter's birthday
    Its actually called Depression cake because it was created during the Great Depression when they had to ration eggs,butter and milk. This is also great without frosting 😁

      Very accurate then. Unlike some channel featuring 'Depression recipes' but using tons of luxurious ingredients like cream,butter and milk and called it as 'what common people made during hard times.'

    My grandmother made this when we were growing up. The original name was Depression Cake because eggs, butter and milk were rationed during the depression. She never poured any liquid over the cake though...it was already most. It very rarely made it to the frosting stage. LOL
    TIP: Use cold black coffee in place of the water. 😋

    • @anoushka9254
      @anoushka9254 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you taste the coffee finally? Cause i have seen in some past chocolate cake recipes, they use coffee. Was just wondering how it would taste like.... Is it a secret ingredient that makes chocolate cakes taste better without any coffee taste? Or is the coffee taste out there?

    • @sunshineandflowers6499
      @sunshineandflowers6499 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@anoushka9254 I make a lot of chocolate cakes from scratch and the best tasting chocolate ones have coffee in them. The coffee only enhances the chocolate flavour. There is no coffee taste in the finished product. Usually it is only a flat teaspoon or less that goes into the recipe. Hope that helps.

    Definitely gonna try this. O was using oil for the icing. I was thinking for an alternative. Now I can use peanut butter.

    First time trying this and my batter was thicker compared to the video even though I followed the measurements so I ended up adding around half cup more water. My cake became a really moist pudding 😂 Anyway, it’s still good. Next time, I’ll try and follow the exact measurements even though it may look different.

    I'm not sure what happened, but I use all-purpose flour and I ended up using 2.5x the water to get the same consistency, maybe I should use cake flour?

    For the batter, why use hot water instead of normal temperature water ?

    What can I use instead of peanut butter?
    I cannot eat any tree nuts or peanut butter.
    Thank you.
