    This is soooo helpful. I never have soy milk on hand so anytime a recipe calls to make buttermilk I use almond or coconut and have always felt like it wasn’t curdling right. I’ve never had real buttermilk so I wasn’t sure exactly what the consistency is suppose to be.

    • @tpn1110
      @tpn1110 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      For non-vegan cooking, I sub 1/4 cup plain yogurt + 3/4 cup milk for each cup of buttermilk. You can do this with vegan yogurt and vegan milk as well. Buttermilk is the by product of making butter then fermented with live cultures to thicken so that’s what the yogurt there for. Adding vinegar or lemon juice to milk can work in a pinch but I highly recommend using my method!

I'm not rushing out to totally go vegan but reducing my meat intake and replacing it with an amazing veggie dish is working out for me and my friends. Plus... how you explain techniques and products helps my friends see clearly how to execute your dishes with ease. Pease keep sending out videos , they're great, David.

    Used this recipe along with your vanilla to make vegan wedding cakes as there were quite a few vegans attending a family wedding. There was also a non vegan cake made by a professional. I tweaked the chocolate with raspberry too and to the vanilla I added lemon. Both were a huge success and much complemented. Many non vegans preferred them.

    I made this cake and was skeptical about putting fruit on it because I'd need to store it in the fridge, but I can say it is even BETTER out the fridge the next day. The chocolate buttercream sets up so nicely and it cuts so clean. I'm making this one again for my own birthday this year!

    Love this recipe. So moist!! I didn’t have applesauce so I substitute for smash bananas! I little banana flavor but the result was great! Thank you for the recipe

    I made this cake for my family in december (birthday cake) and they were all pleasantly surprised that it was soooo good and vegan! I've made a few not so good or semi decent vegan cakes and desserts in the past, so everyone went in with a little trepidation, but this cake was amazing! Everyone loved it, even the vegan sceptic, and it lasted very well for several days after! Thank you so much for bringing this fantastic cake into the world 💕

      Hey there! Would you please tell me if you used sweetened apple sauce or unsweetened apple sauce?

    • @stineogkaerlighed17
      @stineogkaerlighed17 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ritabose2707 I'm pretty sure I used unsweetened apple sauce. There is a bit of sugar in the cake batter, and the frosting is also very sweet. :)

      Hey! I was just wondering if you guys knew what i can substitute for apple sauce? I live in a country where it's not sold anywhere so i would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me :)

    This cake is the best cake I’ve ever tried. It’s my go-to together with the vanilla cake. It’s so interesting to see you making it abs giving all those little tips beyond what is instructed on the website. Thank you ♥️♥️♥️
    Two things I used to modify:
    1) I’m caffeinate free so I tried decaf or simply water (both are good)
    2) almond milk (now I want to try soy milk)
    3) avocado oil (but I see you point, it does come out crumbly so it’s harder to coat with icing)
