Located in a small village in the Sabaragamuwa province Srilanka
and surrounded by the nature wideness the rafters retreat is the perfect getaway for families and friends. The location is also popular since the famous film "The bridge on the river Kwai" was filmed in 1955 which turned out to be a big hit at that time.
Commenced in the year 1995 by the current director Channa Perera who lives in his ancestral bungalow which estimated to about 115 years old. Channa is the epitome of life in the woodland and on the river. Channa was also the first person to start white water rafting in Srilanka.

When I first visited the Kithulgala rest house in 80’s, I noticed a big house at the adjacent property. I was wondering who owned it and how lucky he was to live in such a beautiful place close to the nature. I think this is it. Thanks to Channa Perera to converted it to a nice retreat with traditional foods.
