So helpful! I bought mine two months ago and have regretted it ever since. I'm 65 years old and not tech savvy so I miss the push button panel of my old Epson. You are so right. The color prints are horrible. I would return it if I could to get something that's better suited for older people like me. I bought it at Best Buy and it's outside the return window unfortunately. but I never really understood how it worked until today so thank you. I won't throw it in the trash yet. 😉
I have this printer and decided to start making warning reviews, every time I have to restart it or fix a paper jam, (which is every time I use it) It's never just worked without fussing with it. I have never hated a product so much in my life.
Don't set it up according to the directions. Find the software online and install it like a normal printer after that it works really well. (I installed it like they suggested and then had to uninstall it all because I couldn't do anything with the printer from my computer - useless for a teacher.)
Trying to set up the 6055 with a Chromebook is a royal pain in the ass. You download the HP Smart app on your phone and when you go to the menu to find the HP 6000 series, you get a big surprise. IT'S NOT THERE. The 6200 series is there. Whatever happened to plug and play? If I can't get this printer to print on the Chromebook, both are going back to Best Buy and they can sell them as open box items. I'm done with this combo. I'll haul my 24" monitor, my desktop and my bulky HP all in one printer out of storage. At least I know they like each other. UPDATE: Bought an Epson Workforce 3820 and it works with the Chromebook without having to go thru WiFi. Maybe those eggheads at HP need to stop screwing around with features that have worked for decades. I really loved the pretty colored lights and the touch pad that you could see what function you were selecting.
I had that problem too for a different model but....you don't have to use the HP Smart ink, you can buy regular HP ink from Amazon then say fuck off to HP Smart! I did it!

The assumption that everybody is obsessed with a cell phone and wants to set up a printer using one is absurd. For a printer, you should also have a simple printer cable and some controls on the printer to operate it.
Good video I have had this printer a while and hated the subscription model and also this printer is very frustrating using the app .. when it works it’s fine but when it fails and it does regular now it’s a nightmare
Very informational but one incorrect piece of info: If you quit the Instant Ink Plan, you can NOT use your left over cartridges until you join it again. Once you are off the plan, you have to use cartridges you buy directly from a retail store. Read this carefully because it indicates it's cheaper to stay on the plan even if you don't print a high volume.

I don’t know if I like the idea of having a printer without buttons depending on the phone. HP used to make a basic printer that was like this with the buttons. I think it was an F280 or something like that. My parents had one it was slow, but it was the greatest printer it always worked and I don’t think it cost that much probably 60 bucks and it was a scanner since they come and put these new printers with chips on the cartridges and all that stuff. I haven’t gotten any of them to work any good back in the day I could refill my Epson Kohler, 800 for seven. Cents, with a 4 ounce bottle of the ink and print hundreds of thousands of copies perfectly no it seems like all these new windows and everything I never get anything done. Anybody else have this problem I would love to hear from you.😮😮😮

Plugging in my hp after having it in storage for 6months, the ink is almost full, but when printing the black ink is dry and the color was fine last wk. Today the color doesn't work. I feel like it's a waste of money in general, the quality is also not great.

I think so cause the connection between this printer and your phone is likely to be an unwanted “trojan horse” since most of the controlling need to be done through it.

This is one very nice looking printer! Nicest I've ever seen even. I have a number of questions though: Does it require setup only via the mobile app, or can I set up the printer with its desktop software like I used to? Are there absolutely no physical buttons and indicators and absolutely everything have to be done or checked via the mobile app? I imagine having to pull out my phone every time my printer screams an error would be slow and cumbersome. But still, this wouldn't suit my needs. This but with ink tank and the drawer paper storage switched for something else like upright feeding tray would make this buyable for me.

Does this or any of the other new HP printers have an on screen feature you can look at to see how much ink remains in the printer's cartridges? Are HP office jet printers inkjet or laser printers? I need to replace a 2008 HP Photosmart AIO inkjet printer which has a small LCD screen on the front along with a power button on the front. Your videos are very detailed btw, very informative.
Thanks for the review. We did buy the printer. So good so far. I have two questions if you have a minute: (1) how do I shut off the printer....the light stays on and (2) how do I do a duplex scan? Thanks very much, Bruce
Unfortunately it doesn't support duplex scanning. If I remember correctly there should be a power switch in the back? If not a cheap smart plug might be a good way to switch it on and off. I think there might also be an option in the app for shutting off the indicator light.

Hi. You mentioned one could change the order of the tiles to which ones one use more often, how, I have been unable to move the tiles around? Thanks!
Okay…. So 1. What happens if I am on Instant Ink, but I happen to not use all of the ink in my cartridges that month? Would I still be paying HP a fee?
2. My desktop is not WiFi or Bluetooth capable, but if I understand you correctly then if I use the cable to connect to my desktop, then the option of using wireless goes away. Suggestions? And no… getting a laptop or newer desktop is not an option.
Can this scan documents longer than 11 inches?
I can not figure out how to use this printer, I don’t understand the difference between Wireless and Wi-Fi direct it won’t even connect to my phone let alone other devices it won’t even respond to me holding the button down for three seconds or turning the power button off I don’t know what is going on but it’s frustrating and I need help
Wonderful description of HP Envy Pro 6455! 👍🏽💯
Either you have not I have this printer and decided to start making warning reviews, every time I have to restart it or fix a paper jam, (which is every time I use it) It's never just worked without fussing with it. I have never hated a product so much in my life.
I am having a difficult time printing from my Macbook Air I have printed before from my mac. I don't know what I am doing incorrectly
Does this printer work with macOS Monterey?
Thanks for sharing. Very comprehensive and informative. Nice that Lon is providing a Video Index. The channel deserves more subscribers in my opinion. God Bless.
I forgot to ask. How do you make the UI of your phone to appear on the screen? Thanks again.
I use the NDI Capture HX app from Newtek which feeds into my Vmix production software.
I’m still trying to figure out how to enable HP web services
Does this or any of the other new HP printers have an on screen feature you can look at to see how much ink remains in the printer's cartridges? Are HP office jet printers inkjet or laser printers? I need to replace a 2008 HP Photosmart AIO inkjet printer which has a small LCD screen on the front along with a power button on the front. Your videos are very detailed btw, very informative.
You can go to your account online and it will tell you how much ink you have left in each cartridge.
@@LonSeidman I tried using it to print a character but it sized the character super big and only printed some of him
How do I change the quality to high so I don’t have those streaks?
any printer that requires a subscription should have its host company go out of business

Thanks a million. Very helpful and clear information!
My printer has an existing password for the network, using IOS iPhone. Where do I find the password window to update with the new password.
Does this printer print photos using photo papers?

Does it size by percentage ? Can I put 95% , 74% ? Know what I mean?
They don’t make these things to last much more than 3 or 4 years!

Does this model HP ENVY Pro 6455 prints PDF files?
Yes 👍🏿
how do you do enlarged copy with just the printer?
You can't on this printer. Take it to Office Max and pay to have it done or do it yourself on your own computer.
