I bought the Neato D80 November 2017. The robot quit working in May 2018. I emailed back and forth with the company for several weeks. They replaced my robot the end of June 2018. Now the replacement quit working in November 2018. I bought a new battery for the robot in December 2018. The first of February 2019 the robot has quit working again. I have been emailing back and forth for several weeks with the company. I was asked to send them all of my original purchase information and some pictures of the floors and the lighting in the house and where the docking station was. I sent them all of the information that was requested and they stopped corresponding with me. I haven't heard from them in two weeks. I resent all of the info and asked them twice why they will not respond. Today I called them and now I am starting over with a new technician. We will see how it goes for me from there.
It is a while since they put this Roomba i7 on the market so common sense would tell me that the price of it will go down, however instead of going down it went up. From $949.99 up to $1.099.
Good review! I'd just like to point out that the Roborock S50 also uses LDS sensor like the D7, but it has no problems with moving the docking station. If you move it then it spends 3-4 seconds looking around and then it auto-updates the new dock location on the saved map. Also, if you pick it up and move it to another room, and start it there, it will recognize where it is, and show up exactly at that point in the map. So I don't think the camera system is better for these kind of things. The LDS system is much more accurate overall. It's as you said, just software coding. The LDS takes extremely accurate distance measurements of the entire room, so it will quickly be able to know exactly where it is within the map, as long as you code it properly. :) Another thing that I like about the Roborock is that you can drive it around manually by using the "go to" function when generating the map that's going to be saved. It doesn't have to perform a complete run in order to generate the map. Hopefully this will be adopted by the Neato team as well. :)
I got the Neato D7 Connected a couple of weeks ago and now also the software update with the possibility to prioritize cleaning zones. I love this little monster. It works perfectly and it really does a great cleaning job.
I’ve owned both and I will say, whatever you buy you will be thrilled either way. What it came down to for me was is the extra $400 worth not cleaning out the bin for the Roomba and the Roomba it was a bit more clunky around furniture in its navigation bumping into things. So I went with the neato. With the zones now available on the neato it comes much closer features wise. With that said, the cleaning base was amazing and so hard to get ride of. To me it came down to price and navigation over auto bin cleaning convenience.
I too love y neato, I have the 8, I really wish it had the clean station though, the 10 is out now, still no clean station. But the neato is my go to, gets those corners!
I have a Neato. It worked well for 6 months, then it stopped charging, disconnected from the Wi-Fi, and dis not light up at all. We had some issues getting a hold of support, but eventually they agreed to fix it. We sent it off to them and they fixed it no charge. They even covered shipping both ways. A robotic vacuum of some sort is a fantastic thing to have, especially when you have two dogs that shed a third dog's worth of hair every day! We fill up two of those dust bins every day
Bought a Neato d4 loved it. Upgraded to d7 love it even more. Bought a second d7 for my basement. They are amazing for Capet. Hardwood and tile are a given. No issues at all 3 months in.
Roomba's are build so well, I have had my Roomba 560 for 10 years and it is still going strong. I am not sure about the NEATO's longevity but can diffidently vouch for iRobot Roomba!!
Neato is not only as well built just a Roomba - it also cleans far better - which is really the most import detail, all technical BS and quality aside. Plus you are way overpaying for the Roomba name.
We have the Roomba i7 without the jet vacuum, and it’s been superb! It picks up so much pet hair and other dirt/dust! I have a cat and German Shepherd that sheds a lot. Been very happy with this purchase! I can definitely recommend the i7! Had the 690 model previously and although it was a good vacuum, the i7 is far superior IMO!
I have had a Neato for almost 4 years. Cleans our main floor at 1100+ sq ft in around 70 mins and never missed a beat. Hands down the best money spent.
I clean at 530pm. No one sleeps down stairs so sound is not an issue. It is still dark so im glad i got the neato. Did not know roomba cant clean in the dark.
They need to add the ability to turn off the cliff sensing in the roomba. I have a rug with some dark colored spots, the Roomba thinks it's falling off a cliff and will not clean it. So frustrating.
We returned our Roomba 980 to Costco after only two weeks because of the hassle of emptying the bin which is quite small. We now have a Roomba i7+ and we LOVE IT! In our opinion, the extra cost is worth the money for the automatic bin emptying feature, totally awesome. One thing you didn’t talk about in your video is the i7’s no go system which works fine. It just involves no go units as opposed to the mapping system. We have no experience with the Neato unit so cannot comment about that.
Bought the i7+ a few weeks ago. Brilliant. I never have to deal with dumping out the small bin on the robot or with de-tangling the brush. You can also now specify no-go zones on the Roomba map. In my view the Roomba i7 and S9 robots represent the current state-of-the-art. You'll pay for it, though. For years I had thought robot vacuums were toys. I was wrong.
how did it work on hard floors? I had read somewhere else that it was better for carpeting and/or rugs than actual hard floors... Do you have any pets? (I've cats)
I'm so happy with my neato XV series. I have had it for probably for 3 or four years now. I am so amazed. The suction is extremely good for a robot vaccum, I hear compared to others it is probably the best suction. It literally picks up every square foot of space, especially running it multiple times a week will be sure to get everything. Super solid and robust little robot.
I have tossed around making this purchase for some time but I am glad I did🌼 The fact that I don't have to worry about vacuuming at all makes it worth it. I can schedule times for it to run and which rooms I choose to have it vacuum. Very through and the fact that it goes much slower then you and I would vacuum, It picks up more when it goes slower giving the carpet a better clean.
I got my Roomba 960 last month and i was dumping the bin halfway during every cycle for a week. I didn’t realize how dirty my carpet really was. It definitely was satisfying to see and that’s such a great point you made.
In Germany, the Neato costs half the i7+. That's one point. To everything you said: the Neato cleans better on carpet, it's the brush. The i7 can also cope with thick carpets - unlike the 980. The iRobot is more careful and almost never gets stuck. With the previous models Neato always had problems with the laser motor, the belt and the side brush. Let s see. If there is no long hair in the apartment, you rarely have to get your hands dirty. Hair is a problem with all robots because they plug brushes and drive axles. If the money isn't important, the Dockings Station makes the difference - very cool. And good competent video
Good review, I just considered both of these products. I purchased the D7, the 'D' design I prefer along with the "NO GO" lines. Bed Bath & Beyond had for $599, plus used 20% coupon, bringing price to $480. At that point, I think the decision is clear. Thus far, I am pleased with the D7 and would make the same decision again.
@ Keith, it was the week of Thanksgiving, they had it on sale for $699, then on that Friday it was an extra $100 off, thus $599. They then honored the 20% coupon, paid $470 plus tax, right place, right time :)
This is why I love random vacuums. Sure, you don’t get straight lines and they will miss a couple spots, but they’re easy to use and if the battery is good it usually cleans the whole floor
I have bought the Roborock just one month ago. I’m literally mind blowed. It smashed my expectations by far. My house is absolutely cleaner than vacuumed by hand due to the daily schedule. It works itself out of any trap. Just wonderfully. And I got my roborock delivered for 400 $. And this a price beaker. 1000 $ is a no go, sorry roomba.
I literally watched your video 7 minutes after you posted it because these 2 vacs are what I’ve been deciding on getting. I currently had the Roomba 980 and it was great but wanted something new that would do the main house. I decided to get the neato D7 because the cost was significantly a lot cheaper. Here’s my thoughts ,the neato is more quite than the Roomba. I ran the Roomba 980 yesterday morning and then ran the D7 last night and the dirt bin was completely full of dirt and dog hair. I’m thinking since the Neato has a beater bar type system it’s able to collect dirt and grab pet hair better than the roombas rollers. However the Neato seems to be getting caught on EVERYTHING, We have some longer "Shag" type rugs through the house and Roomba had NO problem cleaning on them and NEVER got stuck, The minute Neato rolls onto it the vacuum stops and gives an error about its brush is stuck....... I remembered the XV21 did the same thing....Another thing I decided against the i7+ was my Roomba has on a number of times collected receipts, and small objects I dropped that was easily retrievable from the dust bin, with the i7 once it gets to the dock and gets cleaned out you will be making a big mess and destroying the bag to get to what ever item the vacuum collected. And lastly the boundary system, This was my biggest reason I wanted a new vacuum, We are starting to leave the back sliding door open for Winter, The 980 climbs over the sliding door tracks and proceeds to vacuum the outside pool deck and even sometimes gets stuck in the yard if we dont catch it...... We have tried the LightHouses but between the way our blinds are setup and the dogs it always got moved ever so slightly allowing the 980 out the door, The Neato has the No Go Lines, so I just draw a line at the door and it has not yet passed that line, From my understanding the i7 still uses the light houses for its boundary system. (Please correct me if im wrong) So far the Neato D7 has been great even with it not doing the rugs. It seems like every time I send it out the bin is always full (We have 2 dogs and 2 Ferrets) which looks like it does a better job than the 980 we had. They are both great vacuums and both have pros and cons in different areas. Great review!
Confirming the i7/i7+ will have No Go Zones with a software update in Q1 2019. (disclosure, I work for iRobot). In the meantime, you can create a "room" in the map to block off an area, or use the virtual walls.
Awesome post! I am really struggling how often do you have to empty the bin i have 2 huskies and they shed crazy the only thing pushing me to i7 is the bin dispenser but i cant really afford that would i need to empty the other robot a lot or well it clean the apt on one run
boz1200m3d thank you!! I literally just asked iRobot this yesterday when I called. In my review I suggested no go lines as well as if a way for my i7+ to get longer run time. Honestly those were my only two major issues with “Missy Ro”. Hopefully and extended battery option will be offered. Thanks again for the comment. I can’t wait!!! Didn’t realize Missy would hate my skirts on out Christmas trees lol.
Late to the party, but I absolutely love my i7+ , I do hope they update the app with new features, but so far it is heads above the rest that I have tried.
Hello Ben...rather than the features am more interested in how does the vacc perform in terms of crude raw suction power....most of the videos online show vaccs picking up large flakes of barley, corn etc.as dust but what about very fine dust covering the house after a windy day???..how is the performance then??
Love the neato and its built like a tank. The sensors for drops doesn't seem to be that effective, fortunately it can drop 12 feet and be absolutely fine :P
I use to be a huge Roomba fanboy right up to the day I bought an i7 model. It's a nice unit but it's been getting stuck under places that my previous 980 never had problems with. I decided to try a D7 and its awesome. I love the fact that it can do its job in complete darkness and it has yet to get stuck. I also love how much larger the dust bin is compared to the tiny dust bin on the i7.
I absolutely LOVE my Neato D7! Being able to run it in dark rooms was a plus. Additionally, we have a few high pile rugs that it has no issues going over. I love the no go lines feature, and even more recently "zones" (allowing you to create zones to vacuum only certain parts of your floor layout).
Bought a Neato XV Signature Pro Pet & Allergy Robot Vacuum Cleaner in 2015 and was really impressed with it. Just received a Neato D4 with all the new technology. It's great. The original Neato XV is still going strong and will be going to the other smaller house with less pets. Love the size of the dust bin on the D4 for 2 large dogs. Barely ever use the Dyson anymore. Roomba is a quality product also, I just like the "D" shape design for my needs.
I have an older Neato (had the 70e & now the D80). Both had some issues with the side brush not always spinning on carpets. Seems they haven't fixed this yet; I can see the brush not spinning a lot during this video. All they need is a slightly more powerful motor, right? Odd they haven't fixed this. That being said, the robots are still amazing!
@@Tinkula Umm.. There are walls and corners in rooms with carpet... Like what are you even thinking?!? We aren't talking about area rugs. We are talking about fully carpeted rooms.
My mom has the Roborock s5. We moved her dock and the vac and started the vac from the new location with no problems with the saved map. It moved its location on the already saved map.
Robot’s marketing department shows the i7+ as the God’s send of robot vacuum cleaners because of the automatic emptying system. But what they don’t advertise is how there’s still a filter inside the dust bin that requires regular cleaning or it’ll get clogged up rather quickly. That being that, the automatic emptying system becomes kind of pointless because the end user still has to remove the dust bin to clean out the small filter. This subject is something the iRobot fan base hardly ever seems to mention.
Ozzie Alarcon pointless? You don’t have to clean the filter on the dust bin every time it runs. Without the auto dirt emptying, you’d have to empty out the tiny Roomba i7 bin all the time.
i7 plus robot is the BEST, it is so low in height that it can clean any hidden place, It does very good corner cleaning surprisingly. I did so good to my self by buying this i7 with auto emptying trash feature. It is very sturdy and doing consistent vacuuming repeatedly and finish spotless. Everyone should buy this . i7 is the best !!!
Have you seen the new S7+? Came out today. Four times more suction than the I7. I have the I7+ and a 960. The I7 knocks the pants off of every other robot I've owned. Several years ago I strayed from Irobot for a couple of Neatos. They did do a nice job, but in my multi-pet household, never lasted past the guaranty. When their coverage gave out on the replacement, it was back to the IRobot product. Again, the I7 and the 960 and 980 series were far better than their earlier models. Loving my Braava as well.
Bought the roomba i7+ for $700 from amazon brand new. Love the automatic emptying of the dust bin and Alexa go clean all rooms or a certain room feature. Great video
50% people talking about their old roombas , 30% people talking about getting the i7 roomba, 20% people actually talking about the i7 roomba or d7 neato
Tried both. Got D7. Neato products are superior to iRobot and have been for multiple generations. Though finally iRobot are developing viable robotic vacuums. Is likely to raise the game for everyone.
I have an older Neato BotVac Connected, one thing that failed right away was the side brush quit spinning. The belt material they used to connect the motor to the side brush stretched out, only after a few weeks of getting it. I noticed from your video that the Neato's side brush wasn't spinning at all. It might have the same problem. The side brush should be spinning 95% of the time. I have own mine now for over a year and I replaced the belt for the side brush with a better kind. I also needed to replace the pressure sensing buttons on one side because the old ones were wore out. I hope they fix those problems in the future with better materials. I totally agree with you that the Neatos's side brush needs to be longer.
Between all of the robot vacuums that are out there, which do you prefer the most? Personally, I prefer the Xiaomi roborock S5 as it is all around the best bang for the buck!
We just bought the i7. I had a eufy that I returned because emptying that dustbin got annoying. Also I prefer an American company. The methodical cleaning was awesome and definitely better than randomized. The dustbin cleaner is very powerful. The i7 is also so much more powerful than the eufy. We have 2 GSD so we have a lot of hair. No problem since this robotic vacuum.
I have two D3's and a D5(one for each floor of my house), they work amazing for pets! (two dogs and three cats) The neato botvacs are cheaper than iRobot and even there lowest end model supports virtual no go lines. No added cost of Roomba virtual walls that are required on some models.
Vimildar I used a Roomba i7 just a few days ago in a one-story house with hardwood floors and three(!) cats and it did an AMAZING job on all the pet hair and all the other dirt in all the rooms. If pet hair is the only factor that’s keeping you from an i7 I suggest you consider going for it.
I have the d85 since we are students living in a 1 bedroom apartment. There is an amazing pet brush in full rubber and me and my cats couldn't be more happy with the cleaning result.
Title: "Neato D7 vs Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum Comparison!" - ends video with "SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!?!?!" dude... are you seriously not even going to give your own opinion at the end? As the one going through all of the trouble to make the comparison, to then not give at least a "I can't make up my mind which is better for my own home" makes your videos feel unfinished.
Exactly. TH-camrs seem to be using the lousy tricks to "engage" their audience... Just as lousy as making a video stating "the best smartphone in the world"... and adding a small question mark at the end....
What's never explained in any review is the cost of maintenance/servicability. With the Neato, you're looking at filter replacement monthly, the beater bar about every 3-6 months (all depending upon usage). I don't know about the Roomba, but I think the Dyson has permanent filters and beater bars. I'm now getting my 4th Neato after problems with the first 3 - all in the course of about a year. One was defective, 2 have had broken belts (which are essentially rubber bands). So, please - buyer beware. None of these have many serviceable parts either - always have to send it in for repair.
Great review.. I bought a Oregon Scientific vac robot last year and very impressed with the results of the vac. I think once this guy expires, I'd like to a higher end one like the Roomba. When these robot vacs came years ago, they weren't that impressive, but over time, technology has developed a better robot vac and thus a viable cleaning option has to come to pass.
Do you have evidence of this? The reviewer that compared the two does not seem to support your feeling on this, I would like to know if what he is saying is not accurate.
i received irobot roomba for Christmas so Im not complaining on which brand I got. After veiwing this you tube , yes there is pros and cons. I personally like the extra feature of the roomba being able to suck the dirt into a vac bag when done doing its job. I dont like that it needs lite to run. I dont like that you cant set your zones you want to vacumm but then I can use the sensor blocks to put in areas that I dont want vacummed. overall Its pretty much the same between the two. what one doesnt have the other one does or there is a round about way of getting the job done in the same consequences. Does a great job and I noticed with having the unit I am dusting furniture less often. Thanks Roomba!
Great review! Glad I decided on the i7+ even before seeing this. I don't want to clean out the dustbin every day and the rollers are so old school with alot of maintenance. They both seem to clean the same so get the one that makes your life easier.
The side brush on the Neato is like T-rex arms - vestigial and almost non-functional. Watch the video at 13:15, you can see where the magnetically attached side brush is just stuck from the ottoman. Happens in medium height carpet too. They also tend to fall off and end up in the bin too. Not a deal breaker for me as the wide cleaning head of the Neato more than makes up for the side brush issues. For this reason the D3/D4 is really the model to buy.
WOW! I always thought that Neato D7 is the best vacuum cleaner, but Roomba i7+ seems to be an even better device. Only shame that it's too expensive. Can Roomba i7 go over shaggy rugs?
Very good review! Too bad the i7 is not available for purchase for months now in Europe! Let’s hope it will be soon, the quality of the IRobot’s is phenomenal! My oldest is now 13years old and still functional! That’s why I want to upgrade to the I7 with the integrated dust removal suction unit.
As an owner of the Roomba, if you have pets, you will love it at first, but overtime you will want to throw it in a fire and use gasoline to put it out. Past the cleaning rollers, hair will clog up and not make it to the dirt bin. This leads to it running all around the house not picking up anything at all. It'll just push dirt around because it's not smart enough to know that it's clogged up. You'll learn eventually midway through the cleaning that you'll have to pause it and use a hand held vac or a normal vac to suck out the hair that's clogged. I have ONE dog which is an English Mastiff. My Roomba is set to run every morning at 0800 and this is an everyday problem.
I prefer the Neato. More bang for you money. However the higher tier Roomba seems much better than their lesser models. Even the Neato D3 which can be found for $200-$300 has all the same options as the D7 except the side brush.. So you could get 2-3 of them for the price of that Roomba. The lidar method works better as well.
I don't have the i7 but I do have the 960 which has slightly weaker suction and lacks the ability to specify rooms. I love it! The dual rubber extractors are the best, compared to the last Roomba I had from 2009. Their anti-tangle tech when it comes to cords is great too. The only issue I've had is when window blind strings occasionally get sucked up and stops the cleaning job. The compatibility with the Amazon Echo is awesome too. I just hope they can integrate it with Apple HomeKit in the future. You made such an awesome review. It would be really awesome if you could do a future comparison of the Roomba i9+ (just announced on 5/29/19) and the Neato D7, or whatever their newest high end model will be at the time. It'd be interesting to see which comes out on top since both devices have a similar design.
I'm going for the I7+ for two reasons: 1- When the bin is full, it simply goes to the base, empties itself and goes back to work. 2- I'll have access to a room by room command using Alexa. There will be no need to pull out a phone, I'll just have to say "Alexa, tell the butler to vacuum the kitchen" and VOILÀ!
Honestly I had a Neato and it got stuck under chairs. As in wedging itself inside the legs dragging my chairs and scratching my floor. Same with my end tables. It more of a ram object type due to it not having the sensor on the front bumper to slow it before it bumps it. It also back up and scratches up walls. I have the old xiaomi and I like it better. My mom has the s5 and it’s very plush and easy on furniture. Set it and forget it.
Everyone look at the neato at the end of the video when it’s on the ottoman spinning around. You will see white marks where it bumps and turns and hits objects pretty hard. Especially back of the robot it backs up on stuff in comer and backs up your wall and baseboards. I had several neatos and I got a Roborock due to this. Can’t believe as picky as this guy is he lets likes the robot to run his stuff like it does. Also you will notice he didn’t show it go around chair and table legs. That’s it’s weakness. Just an issue I had and wanted to pass it along. The neato does have great power though. But not enough for me to justify it ramming and marking up my walls and tearing up my piano, table chairs and coffee table legs. It works great on the extra care but you can’t use that option on a scheduled clean. Defeats the purpose and it won’t even go around table and chair legs with this option . It totally avoids them.
Very nice review! I noticed that the brush on your D7 wasn't working properly. Did this eventually fix itself or was it just an issue with your carpet? Does your brush work properly on hardwood floors?
3 years ago I purchased Neato's first Botvac model. My house is 1400 sqr feet, has all wood floors, and I own two long haired cats. While on eco mode, it has run every single day for the past 3 years and it finally broke down last week. The point of failure is where the brush enters the motor. In your video at 1:05, look at the orange part of the brush and where it enters the motor casing. Over the years dust worked its way through that joint and 4 weeks ago the engine seized. I completely broke down the vacuum and discovered that, by design, the motor casing is not replaceable because its snapped together and might as well be part of the vacuum's plastic mold. To squeak out a few more weeks, I drilled a hole on the top part of the motor casing, squeezed in a small amount of high friction sewing machine oil, and capped the hole with two-stage plumbers glue. That got it through until last week. The vacuum itself is still completely usable and could work for decades, but this point of unrecoverable failure is forcing me to purchase a new vacuum. I plan on purchasing another Neato because I have gone through several vacuums at this point in my life, and not a single one has been able to take even half that much use.
So, my house has 3 floors. Is it possible to let it clean the normal level at monday, than relocate it to the higher level on Thursday. And than put it on the top level on Wednesday? And if this work, do I just put the neato there myself or also the charge station? Thank you forward
Why i dont like Neatos is that its rear exhaust will blow dust to areas it cleaned when turning and then it still looks dirty on hard floors that are dark.
If you live in a hairy or very dusty household, the self-emptying bin is a lifesaver. This is so much better than my 980 which would not start every morning because of a full bin. If I forgot to dump it before going to bed, the scheduled morning run would not happen. I can now schedule specific rooms, like my foyer, to be vacuumed more than once a day and the family room and dining room several other days in the afternoon, in addition to the whole house run in the morning. Yes, it's expensive but the features justify it, IMHO.
hi Ben, you mentioned the D7 wasn't very loud. Have you heard the D6 model? I tried that one and thought it was too loud so I'm wondering if maybe the D7 wouldn't be as loud. Thanks Ben
Neato hands down! I'm going to buy a Neato after my Samsung dies. For Samsung to be such a large technology company they can't even get their software right. My last Samsung product will be gone soon!

At 10:41, you can see that the brush hits the wheel when rotating. Doesn't it get caught up? What about increased wear and tear? +AuthenTech
Another thing that I like about the Roborock is that you can drive it around manually by using the "go to" function when generating the map that's going to be saved. It doesn't have to perform a complete run in order to generate the map. Hopefully this will be adopted by the Neato team as well. :)
Love our i7+! Does a great job cleaning, it’s quiet, has not gotten stuck anywhere, doesn’t get lost and we love not having to dump the bin!
I got the Neato D7 Connected a couple of weeks ago and now also the software update with the possibility to prioritize cleaning zones. I love this little monster. It works perfectly and it really does a great cleaning job.
That's great to hear!

Great to hear!
Friday night watching someone's living room being cleaned with robot vacuum. What a great life!! Anyway good video.
Neato lasts about 3 yrs max
@@austinledrew9403 Tell that to my 7 year old Neato XV-21. Purchased in 2012. Replaced brush twice and batteries three times. Still cleaning in 2019.
Thanks for sharing!
I as well I have the 8 and had it for 3 years, love it, I have 1400 and within one hour she comes of cleans and is back docked
I clean at 530pm. No one sleeps down stairs so sound is not an issue. It is still dark so im glad i got the neato. Did not know roomba cant clean in the dark.
Irrespective of the products , the review is topnotch - detailed and just the way how a comparison should be
Awesome, thanks so much Hackology
They need to add the ability to turn off the cliff sensing in the roomba. I have a rug with some dark colored spots, the Roomba thinks it's falling off a cliff and will not clean it. So frustrating.
superb video! But i think the roborock s50 is still the best vaccum cleaner. roomba looks cool, but the price is apple like
We returned our Roomba 980 to Costco after only two weeks because of the hassle of emptying the bin which is quite small.
We have no experience with the Neato unit so cannot comment about that.
it vacuums a floor rather effectively while you are at work and you have an issue with having to empty the bin once a day?
Bought the i7+ a few weeks ago. Brilliant. I never have to deal with dumping out the small bin on the robot or with de-tangling the brush. You can also now specify no-go zones on the Roomba map. In my view the Roomba i7 and S9 robots represent the current state-of-the-art. You'll pay for it, though.
For years I had thought robot vacuums were toys. I was wrong.
how did it work on hard floors? I had read somewhere else that it was better for carpeting and/or rugs than actual hard floors... Do you have any pets? (I've cats)
I want one that folds laundry!
your wish has been heard
yeah me too, thats been my nemesis
Me, too! I hate folding laundry lol
Lol
Lol
Same here, I just couldn't swallow the i7+ Pricing...
I did the same vacuum with the same deal! 😊
Plus bed bath and beyond has a great return policy.
movadopika how did you do this? It says like $800 + on bed bath beyond website and they will price match or coupon not both?
Will the I7+ be available in the Netherlands in Q1 2019? Thanks!
When is i7 coming to UK
Late to the party, but I absolutely love my i7+ , I do hope they update the app with new features, but so far it is heads above the rest that I have tried.
Hello Ben...rather than the features am more interested in how does the vacc perform in terms of crude raw suction power....most of the videos online show vaccs picking up large flakes of barley, corn etc.as dust but what about very fine dust covering the house after a windy day???..how is the performance then??
Love the neato and its built like a tank. The sensors for drops doesn't seem to be that effective, fortunately it can drop 12 feet and be absolutely fine :P
OuCh. O_o lol.
I have 980 2 years love it.. zero problem.
No problems if you live in small appartement. In a large house it's crap. Folowing it and turning lights on for it in rooms what a useless product.
I am returning my Neato D7 in favor of the Roomba I7. My neato gets lost almost every time I run it.
Chris Woodard contact Neato. They’ll replace it. D7 is superior to i7.
My I7+ replaced my 980. It gets stuck much less than the old 980. Actually, almost never.
The auto-dirt disposal is a definite yes!
The new Zones feature is awesome
I really like how irobot i7+ can self empty itself.
Isn't the purpose of the side brush to clean better next to walls? I don't see what benefit there is to spin it on carpet
@@Tinkula Umm.. There are walls and corners in rooms with carpet... Like what are you even thinking?!? We aren't talking about area rugs. We are talking about fully carpeted rooms.
The robot has a sensor to detect if there’s a wall and shuts off the side brush if there’s not.
@@catgirlinspace No.
A spinning brush is useless in carpets..
I’ve been running my i7 for a month, filter cleaned 1, bin emptying 0!
Jeanie fulp so the filter gets cleaned when it empties ?
No, but it doesn’t get dirty after every run. It only needed to be cleaned by me once.
Jeanie fulp how often to you clean it’?
I7+ is worth my money and time the emptying tower is a MIRACLE feature. Would not trade it for anything.
For some reason, iRobot is charging $1,537 in the UK for the i7+. Would be cheaper for me to fly to the US, pick one up and fly back.
i7 plus robot is the BEST, it is so low in height that it can clean any hidden place, It does very good corner cleaning surprisingly.
Great video
nice review, but you never mentioned the most important thing: which one cleans better? that's the answer we need
I’m planning to buy a Neato, since it’s getting better reviews regarding pet ownership
I have two D3's and a D5(one for each floor of my house), they work amazing for pets! (two dogs and three cats)
The neato botvacs are cheaper than iRobot and even there lowest end model supports virtual no go lines.
Title: "Neato D7 vs Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum Comparison!"
- ends video with "SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!?!?!"
dude... are you seriously not even going to give your own opinion at the end? As the one going through all of the trouble to make the comparison, to then not give at least a "I can't make up my mind which is better for my own home" makes your videos feel unfinished.
Exactly. TH-camrs seem to be using the lousy tricks to "engage" their audience... Just as lousy as making a video stating "the best smartphone in the world"... and adding a small question mark at the end....
i prefer the design from the iRobot i7 more than the design from the Neato. In my opinon, round looks better. But this was a nice review!
Love love love my Neato. I feel the mapping technology in the Neato is more reliable and precise.
Roomba i7 have now no go zone since November update 👍
For this reason the D3/D4 is really the model to buy.
iRobot is always a reliable one but nowadays that are *many vacuums that do the work* perfectly, at a good price! Great comparison anyway! 😉
WOW! I always thought that Neato D7 is the best vacuum cleaner, but Roomba i7+ seems to be an even better device. Only shame that it's too expensive.
Can Roomba i7 go over shaggy rugs?
What kind of test compares 2 vacuums but don't test how efficiently they clean...
Great review. Doesn't get much more thorough than this.
Sir,
How about keeping the
Charging station where it is and put the
Christmas tree in a different spot???
just a thought ...
In instruction -
Choose a wall outlet that has a 3’ (1m) clearance on both sides and in front of the charge base
Great Video Comparison! THX for that and Greetings from Germany!
Nice review. These tech reviews must pay pretty well, judging by that floor plan ;)
Could be a rambler. haha. (just looking for an excuse to use the word rambler)
I like the video but I wish you had talked about tek. specs because I am most interested in one of them, the neato d7.
I like the auto empty, but the no-go zone is a must for us with cords all over
bro, u did it again, u made tech videos interesting and fun once again , please make such videos more often. love from india🇮🇳😀😀
That's great to hear, thanks so much
@@AuthenTech thank youuuu man.
The iRobot *needs* those longer side brushes, because it's round shape won't reach walls as effectively.
This channel should have a million subscribers!! Great video
Niz2425 the 960 has the same suction of the i7
Great info, well delivered.
Question though, is there a third option with the best of both worlds? Lol
You should include the Electrolux Pure i9 in your test. It's looking good but I can't find a good comparison with the Neato and Roomba.
I'm going for the I7+ for two reasons:
1- When the bin is full, it simply goes to the base, empties itself and goes back to work.
2- I'll have access to a room by room command using Alexa. There will be no need to pull out a phone, I'll just have to say "Alexa, tell the butler to vacuum the kitchen" and VOILÀ!
Does it work good with Alexa?
I haven't bought it yet. @@luisenriquefloresaceves1508
@@luisenriquefloresaceves1508 Works awesome! Just tell Alexa what room and the i7 does what it's told!
Dude, you didn’t even make a recommendation. Which one is better?
Neato D7
Xiaomi Roborock S50 is the best
Honestly I had a Neato and it got stuck under chairs. As in wedging itself inside the legs dragging my chairs and scratching my floor. Same with my end tables. It more of a ram object type due to it not having the sensor on the front bumper to slow it before it bumps it. It also back up and scratches up walls. I have the old xiaomi and I like it better. My mom has the s5 and it’s very plush and easy on furniture. Set it and forget it.
How do you add a floor plan to the Neato D7 if your house is too big to complete a full cleaning?
Roborock LiDAR bots can identify their location within the floorplan map with ease no matter where you move them.
Sadly, it still doesn't spin. I'm not sure why
Wow, that's intense. Thanks for sharing
Does the D7 work on BLACK carpet or does the cliff sensor activate and prevent it from cleaning a BLACK surface?
So, my house has 3 floors. Is it possible to let it clean the normal level at monday, than relocate it to the higher level on Thursday. And than put it on the top level on Wednesday?
And if this work, do I just put the neato there myself or also the charge station?
Thank you forward
How does the round shaped Roomba handle corners? Loved your review but missed that point. 😉
In your opinion what is the best robot vac on the market in regards to price, performance and quality ??
yeah but how well do they clean?
If the i7 maps a bathroom with the light on (no outside windows), does it use its map to clean it when the lights are off?
I noticed on the neato that the side brush didn't spin. Is that normal or does it spin at certain times?
Why i dont like Neatos is that its rear exhaust will blow dust to areas it cleaned when turning and then it still looks dirty on hard floors that are dark.
Love the reviews, what about Roborock S5 compared to 360 S6 ?
To be honest that's a steep price for the roomba and aside from the self emptying bin it has no other advantages over the D7
Thanks Ben
Samuel D same suction power as d6 and is just as loud. Did you try eco mode?
What update changes has come for both of the vaccum cleaners for 2020?
Really useful review...Thank you..!!...subscribed..!!
Great review Ben!
I need one that can climb and clean stairs as well as floors
You need 2 vacs. I don't expect to see that feature any time soon.
@@MakinaMotze I have two neatos - one up and one down. Stairs remain a manual task.
The neato’s side brush doesn’t spin like the Roomba? I’m not sure if I saw that correctly or not but it didn’t look like it spinned.
Sometimes it spins, sometimes it doesn't, I can't figure it out
Neato hands down! I'm going to buy a Neato after my Samsung dies. For Samsung to be such a large technology company they can't even get their software right. My last Samsung product will be gone soon!
