"The Way"-a heartbreaking story of an elderly couple that went missing during their "last hurrah", a trip to a music festival that was the couple's tradition. Their bodies were found after this song was written, and the band says they felt they "gave the couple the happy ending that they didn't get". A very sad song, but with a happy chorus that depicts the couple, walking hand-in-hand, during a road that was "paved in gold, where it's always summer, you never get old".
i honestly feel like there are better choices of twenty one pilots songs that could’ve been on the list! like ride which is their most famous “happy but sad” song “yeah i think about the end just way too much, but it’s fun to fantasize” in the first verse and people still just dance along because the beat is nice. or holding on to you which is a happier sounding song about tyler’s struggles with his religious beliefs and suicide. you could make a whole list of just happy-but-sad twenty one pilots songs. if you ever want that, i’d be happy to help 😂
The best kind of music I swear you’ve done this list like 1000 times but I’m here for every time .I love your music videos even though sometimes I don’t agree with the rankings but that’s TH-cam
I _never_ thought "Little Talks" sounded fun or _celebratory._ From the first time I heard it, I said "This is about someone who lost their partner", then I read an article where they talked about living in a house they thought was haunted and came up with a story about a woman whose partner was trying to make contact, and it was driving her mad. I lost my partner very suddenly last year, and this song breaks me in ways I can't put into words. There are other songs on here that are also very obviously not happy, like "Waterfalls", for instance. I'm surprised "The Way", a true story of an elderly couple's disappearance, written before their bodies were found. Isn't on here, though. The band said they felt they gave them "the happy ending they didn't get" with the song. ...now _that_ is a sad song.
