It's definitely affordable for those who want to retire there but one of the main issues is their medical system not being the greatest. If you have many health issues this is something to really consider. When i was there to visit i got sick often, went to like 3 different clinics all gave me different diagnosis and prescription and got more sick after taking whatever they gave me. I also have relatives living there who have to travel to Thailand or Vietnam for better Medical care. I really hope they improve on their medical systems that include better trained doctors, medical staff, etc..
Actually we have alot of American doctors, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Tai, Chinese, Philippinoes, French, U.K, Canadian, Russian etc, even Cambodians that went to practice medicine all over the world, helping Cambodia becoming the desired destination.
You have everything wrong about Kep and Sihanoukville. Kep is essentially now a dead old fishing village with next to now foreign tourists. Only locals visit there on the weekend, and there is nothing to do there other than swim in the ocean. No nightlife, no nothing. SV has been taken over by the Chinese and the town is now a total mess of high-rise casino hotels and incomplete towers. The beaches and cafes that used to be there have all been destroyed. There's no beach scene there anymore. You can basically only get some local but mostly Chinese food there. Also, Phnom Penh is very expensive these days and almost unaffordable for most. That's why many people flock to Kampot or Siem Reap.
What is the thd point of the girl in the thumbnail? Irrelevant to the video, and she does not even look Cambodian anyway. Also doubt most Cambodian women dress like that.
Sihanoukville has been absolutely ruined by the Chinese. This is a video by someone who hasn't visited Cambodia, and hasn't done their research thoroughly
Well actually the Chinese mostly left Sihanoukville and the city is actually nice with the new roads and the beautiful coastline's charm is still there.
The worst thing about Cambodia is all the Chinese there. They ruined the place in the mid 70 s ( funded the Khmer Rouge genocide) and now they destroy the place a second time with their BS "investment".
in 2004 i went to that country and i liked the people and it looked cool .but in the end i really wanted to go home because nobody had electricity and the roads were mud and i only ate rice and drank water and Pepsi and this was the luxurious western tourist experience. but now it seems way richer than in the past its not recognizable its even better than my home country in some ways like public transport and the new mall they opened. the country didn't even have a single mall back in 2004 .but it also seems like they still got corruption and some parts of the country can't keep up.
there are so many people is move in to live in Cambodia is because they don't have enough money to live in there country life style many thing people buy in Cambodia don't have to pay tax to government, some country government give 1,500 a mouth to people after they stop work but still have to pay tax to government with that money, they to Cambodia to because what there income so low to live in their country 1,500 only 1/2 what is cost to in their country and some country a word rich is not the people who is rich is the government is rich or government worker.
So you might get robbed, food poisoning, you can’t drink the water and your lights will go out sometimes but at least it’s will cost you $30 a month to live
Yes, that 30 dollars a month is very misleading. I think Cambodia is ok, but not on 30 dollars a month FFS! That would be very basic living. Phnom Penh in particular is becoming quite expensive, so yeah , good luck with 30 dollars there 😂 Electricity is also expensive in Cambodia, something that also needs a mention.
I am a refugee from Cambodia never thinking moving back because country is not stable too many poor people on the street no health care system I hope they don’t move back when they get real sick. Use the taxpayer here in the US.
Many of them were deported from USA due to the crime they have committed, while others found the chaos, corruption, cheap drugs, prostitution, easier to carry out criminal activities, etc, suite them. Most of the deportees wanted to get back to USA, but can't while others thought it was a good idea but only for a short time and then changed their mind.

Cambodian will welcome you when you have a lot of $$$$$. They won't be so friendly or feed you if you are poor and desolate. Trust me!
