    Ok so the grinding disc isn’t meant to cut, it’s a tool used for sculpting wood, and more precisely to remove a lot of material fast, you need to use it with the spare handle , and you use the same motions as when you clean up steel welds ! I hope it helps ppl understand it’s purpuce :)

  • @AgentChick
    @AgentChick ปีที่แล้ว +198

    This is probably the most anxiety I've felt during one of these videos. The chainsaw disc is so dangerous, I'm pretty sure it's outright illegal in a bunch of places, and you can very easily tell why in the video, it has a lot of kickback, one tiny mistake or slipup, and you'll find yourself with a disc embedded halfway through your forearm, stomach or leg.
    All I know is that even if it's not actually illegal and I'm confusing it, I've seen quite a few experienced woodworkers who treat that chainsaw disc like the plague, and you should probably too! Lol.
    Quick edit: I know grinder discs can be very dangerous as well, the difference is that regular discs are way more controllable, and in case of an accident, they'll just slice you up. The chainsaw not only has a lot of kickback, making it ridiculous to control, if you have an accident, it will literally chew up through your skin and get embedded, instead of just slicing. You can probably imagine why eviscerating your skin, muscle and even bone, and getting a disk stuck in it, is a lot worse than slicing with a normal disc.

    You bought a smart angle grinder. It's got extra bumps and doodads that keep people from doing stupid things with it. An angle grinder is one of the most dangerous tools a layman can use. Never remove the guard and know what your discs are intended for.
    Edit: after watching the Dremel, I think I should change this comment to say, grinder discs in general are dangerous if you're not careful. They spin FAST. If they break, they shatter. When they shatter, they throw shrapnel very fast and the guard plus eye protection will usually protect you enough. Just imagine a shard of cutoff wheel disc flying off at 8000 rpm and embedding into your neck, cutting into an artery. That's how you gain appreciation for angle grinder safety

    That second one reminds me of some hackery we did to put a small circular saw blade onto our grinders back when I was a welder. We used it to cut just the welds out of the sides of aluminum tankers and separate pieces for repair. It was super dangerous and I took a chunk out of my face shield with it once.

    As someone who has enjoyed a long career in the OPE industry, I am genuinely horrified by these items and others like them. That's because I have worked many cases where actual OPE was modified, sometimes only slightly, and often times the outcomes still shock me.. Seeing videos of other power tool types being modified to operate like OPE, but without any of the safety features is almost too stressful to watch. Almost!! Lol!!
    Stay safe my friends. There's a good reason that the companies that make these things don't stay in business very long.

      What I don't understand...being not in your industry: just....WHY?? Why on earth would a conversion kit like this exist? Seems like combining two extremely dangerous-to-most-users home tools, for what? To save money? Is that the point? Can't you get a cheap chainsaw for less than $100 from somewhere like HF? This death kit, for $30, instead? Again, I'm not in your world of work, so I'm sure I'm missing something... please forgive my ignorance, and I hope you stay well bud.

    I've been watching your channel for a while and am perpetually amused. I thought about commenting last time you showed the Manscaped Beard kit, but since you're mentioning it again, I thought I'd mention it this time. It would be pretty darned funny if you used some of the product to make a "Dirk Dastardly" type of mustache. If not for the entire video, you could do a "wario"-like schtick when you try to hypnotize us with a jar of pickles or some such. Later!

    You should be able to get a replacement spindle for your grinder so you can put the guard back on. Keep the damaged part for future videos if you find more attachments. Or just use this as an excuse to upgrade your grinder. Do you think you could modify the clamp to make it work? I’m the kind that looks at devices and looks to see what I can do to strengthen it. These are the Milwaukee models that the first chainsaw attachment works for: 2781-20, 2783-20, 2886-20, 2887-20, 2889-20, 2880, 2881, 2882, 2980, 2981, 2780, 6130, 2784, 2680, 6121, 2785, 6147, 6140, 2783, 6146, 6141, 2781, 6142, 6117, 6123.
    It also works on Makita LXT models, Makita XGT models, some Makita models, some Bosch models, and some Dewalt models. Just gotta make sure you have the right grinder.
    They have a Weytoll chainsaw grinder attachment. Amazon also has a belt sander attachment for grinders you should try.
