As far as the shredders Intertek is a quality assurance testing facility. So these could vary well be different manufacturers that were tested both by Intertek and the numbers that are also on the label are the specs that the shredders are assured against. The type of stapler is very important. At my work they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much as the Boston, and I kept the staples for the Swingline. If they take my stapler again then I'll set the building on fire.

For a shredder, I think the duty cycle is more important than the number of pages. I know that that's what caused you a problem when doing more sheets. As it heated up, it got weaker. That's fairly normal, and treating the shredders like you did is likely to kill them.
Needing to do a max of 10-12 pages is annoying. Needing to use the shredder for 5 minutes & then wait another 5 for it to cool down is much worse. At least, it is in my experience.

  • @toecutterjenkins

So for the side cutter testing when it wouldn't cut through the nail towards the head. This is because they harden the heads of a lot of nails so they a less likely to bend or misshape. Pretty sure that's what was happening there.

I’ve had a rough time the past couple weeks and you’re reactions to the shredders made me genuinely laugh for the first time in a long time and I can’t thank you enough for that…on a side not should’ve done like a piece of cardboard and a piece of paper at the same time and go up in the amounts of paper up to its limit…

  • @tenplex
    @tenplex 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

FYI, a lot of locations around the United States will collect paper and cardboard if it is kept unshredded in recycling, but many will not recycle shredded paper. They will only throw shredded paper in the garbage and not recycle it. So it is best for the planet to only shred important documents and not every paper you have.

You should test various types of wood like hardwood, softwood, HDF, MDF, LDF, and plywood to see their strength, durability, water resistance, fire resistance, etc

A lot of times when an item looks exactly the same as the name brand they are made in the same factory but the difference comes down to a multitude of things such as fit and finish and quality of materials used. On metal items I would suspect that cheaper metal is used or a different blend causing them to be softer and wear out faster. But that's something that would be known over you know a long time.

All decorators tape seems to react to the water in the paint and make it gooey on its tape . To stop the bleeding use a roller as this helps stick the paint down. And the reason why the spray paint bled more is because it has to be thinned enough so it can spray through the nozzle of the spray can . The fluidity / viscosity is different

If that's a piece of plywood, the overspray that you're seeing is the divots in the wood itself allowing the paint to go actually underneath the tape. It works best with drywall for something that doesn't have a lot of texture to it to allow the material to go underneath the sides of the tape.

You should try a neck tie in the paper shredders. There's always safety warnings about getting your tie caught in the shredder

Tyler, the reason the nail doesn't cut at the very end is because it has nothing stabilizing it as when you were holding it with your hand before. Right before you make the last cut, you let go of it which then there's nothing to hold the nail while cutting... Then it twists/shifts and doesn't cut.

Thanks for making this great video. 🙂
In case you need some painter's tape for a home project, I've tried all the types I could find (here in Australia). The best I found is called Frog Tape. It sticks absolutely flat, with sharp edges. It's expensive, but it works perfectly.

I think it'd be really cool if you did a video on electric ratchets. Mainly comparing them to an air ratchet (if you have an air compressor that is) or you could also compare a few different types of electric ratchets.

Had the *big* Amazon Basics shredder. The one for cardboard. Died after the first use (or more accurately, the fill sensor got stuck, so it's broken because they don't offer parts to replace/repair it).

With the cutters and the drywall nails, when you got down to the end of the nails, you didn't have enough room left to hold the nail while cutting. Since you weren't holding the nails, they turned when you tried to cut them that's why they didn't cut all the way through.

Project farm should do some macro shots of the cutters jaws to see if they're the same quality and hardness
And the nail wouldn't cut when it wasn't supported by your fingers. It has torque applied from each cutting edge making it spin and widen the gap between edges

they didn't cut through on the dry wall nails because you weren't holding it like you held the rest, so it tends to bend when there isn't a support system in place (your hand)
