I fried my USB port on my old laptop by blindly trying to plug in the auxiliary cord to the headphone jack. Instead I put it in the USB port and it sparked and fried it.

12:12 just in case anyone else is wondering, that chip is called a southbridge and controls a lot of things like audio, your USB ports and expansion slots on the motherboard. theres also a northbridge that is connected directly to the processor. the northbridge is under the heatsink that tyler can be seen murdering at 11:45 lol

You should have hit the capacitors with the 670 volts, they make a satisfying pop. (they're the little round cylindars - not sure how clued up you are on electronics parts). The blowtorch + rubber bands and the cola + sword were very satisfying :)
