Yup. After you steam it, you can put them on a baking sheet (so they dont stick together) and pop it into the freezer. The next day you can put them in a ziploc bag to store them easier. When you want to eat them, take it out from the freezer and steam them for 10 min.
Looking at these manapuas, I don't feel too bad about how mines came out.😂 My manapua NEVER come out "white and fluffy" as most of the videos say. Mine are ALWAYS tan colored and somewhat "doughy" EVERY TIME.😅
That bread does not look like manapua bread... I've tried so many recipes but the dough does not come out fluffy and white, it looks yellow and is chewy.
I've looked more into it and I should've used a cloth to cover the top of the steamer then put the lid on to prevent the water from dripping onto the buns (which will ruin its shape). I'll be experimenting more in the future to find a better version and post an updated video of it ;)
Could you not use honey or sugar? I hate sweet meat. Also, is it possible to add veggies? Watching this made me yearn for a transfusion of green vegetables.
Mahalo for the feedback. The point of the video was to highlight what is normally eaten in a manapua from Hawaii but if you prefer, you could always substitute the filling for veggies. I've tried mushrooms, carrots, and cabbage. It turned out just as good.
We need more channels with local recipes like this. Thanks ah!
Anytime!
Can these be frozen and steamed later?

Note to myself: I need a bread maker
Been a few years since I’ve had good maunapua
I just posted another video with a better recipe for the manapua 😁😉
Very awesome mahalo
