I think the grandfather is the best parent here. He actually talks to Claire and shares his troubles. The father and mother only want to use Claire as a tool (the father using Claire as a person to admire him, and the mother using Claire as a therapist.). The grandfather is using Claire too, but its only to bring him cigarettes. It's not his fault that he couldn't recognize Claire (since he's blind).
