Haha true! In the making of this video I went down a rabbit hole of watching these segments. The good ol days! I actually got to see him live in las vegas when he was restricted from TV show was cancelled but he was under contract. They restricted him from TV but he could do these live shows. It was pretty cool.
I started playing in 1999 on Brell Serilis server.. the reason? A couple real life friends started playing and needed a necromancer to help find their bodies if they died.. so I started a Dark Elf necromancer.. and like you with your gnome.. got lost in Neriak for probably hours.. but I persevered on and played through til 2006 when I retired at the top of the game.. mainly due to work and adulting. What brought me back to EQ? Finding these videos.. playing some toons I haven't really played before, found a guild.. doing some raids! Enjoying it all over again! So thank you and keep em coming!
Nice, I love to hear it! I love to hear where, when and how everyone came into this game. Thank you for sharing. Quarm really does help those of use who want a classic ish experience but also respects our adulting. Gives us a way to get back into the game but less time investment. I'm really appreciative for this server.
Yo! My older cousin got me into EverQuest as well. he even came over and upgraded my PC with some RAM so it could run EQ. Shoutout to the older cousins out there! I made a rogue and my cousin hooked me up with a dragoon dirk and a set of black iron armor. I thought i was big pimpin' !
Glad you're back to making videos! I was missing them at work. I've kind of fallen off EQ myself, and just updated the Quarm files so I could play last night. I'd love to hear you talk about TCGs too. I know you named one of your p99 toons Metazoo, but I'm not sure what all your interests are.. If you just collect, or play, or both. I'm really into M:TG, and play a little Pokémon from time to time as well.
Thanks! A little preview is that I started and played MTG the most. Pokemon then came out and since I was young and some how into MTG (I know how) I was like this is more up the alley of kids my age so I kinda split my time with MTG and Pokemon. Played and collected both. Didn't collect MTG but kept things organized. Pokemon I was making binder sets but also playing. I fell off Pokemon right at the end of the WOTC era. Gen 2 really. I have like neo 1 complete. Everything up to that. I continued on with MTG until I finished highschool basically. Then fell off of everything. Metazoo came out during covid and I kind just found it and got sucked back in. I'll tell ya what. Here is a playlist of some of my binder collections. It's not everything and it's none of the Metazoo stuff but you can see some pokemon binders and a MTG binder of "rares/mythics" I have loads of stuff in boxes but I don't think I show any of that here. I also probably don't show any or much of my graded stuff either. th-cam.com/play/PLKw2mWqLQkeUx2mSrvbwTGG5JY8hQnRs5.html&si=JNwoMsxkS2qAjY80
@@ClassicEverQuest Oh that's cool.. So you were into MTG pretty early then? I think I'm a bit younger than you.. Just by a couple of years. I played Pokemon as a kid, and bounced off MTG twice over the years. I didn't get really into until Covid. I don't actually know anything about Metazoo but I'll be checking out your other channel. Thanks
@AdventuringwithMeech if anything at all, check out that Playlist. There are some psa submission videos and one recent MTG video. Street fighter x MTG lol. Outside of that I'm just opening crap up and Metazoo is dead already, lol. Filed bankruptcy
Thank you! Thanks for the idea as well. It was good to think about all this again and get the feels. They just don't make games like they used to, huh? Damn blizzard was good back then. Before they sold their soul. The games that made us!
I started playing because of the Kunark box art! I was at GameStop or something like that when I was in college and I was just blown away from what I was reading. I remember I couldn't run the game on my computer LOL had to wait a couple of months to save up for a desktop that would run it. Great times that as much as p99 and Quarm want it ..can't replicate it. LOL
Yeah, I credit p99 and Quarm for what they are but it's true. Nothing will ever replicate those times. I'll take what I can get tho! Thanks for sharing your memory
I started over the summer of 1999. I went to stay the night at a friend who I rarely saw outside of school, and he was like “hey you GOTTA see this game I just started. They have these ogres and the women look EXACTLY like Mary from school” (I know, I know, not nice, but we were in 9th grade lol) I made a Dark Elf Wizard and spent roughly 6 hours playing on his computer from like midnight until 6am. I made it to a whopping level 4. 25 years later and I’m still playing on p1999. I can’t imagine ever giving up EverQuest as long as classic era servers exist.
I started playing EQ in July of 1999. My now ex-wife suggested I get a game to play while she was recovering from having our 3rd child. I was in the Navy stationed in Japan. She was gonna spend a couple months with her parents. I had heard of EQ and was drawn in at the thought of an open world where anything was possible. I remember thinking to myself, I'll be a merchant that owns a ship cause the preview of the game had a scene of "players" on a ship "discovering" a city. So, I got it and was immediately hooked... little bummed that I couldn't own a ship or be a merchant so I settled for a human wizard in Qeynos. I remember dying in West Karana and being bummed that I had lost everything I worked for cause I couldn't find my body. So, I made a Mage and that stuck. Played EQ exclusively for 4 years then quit a few months after I got my epic. P99 and Quarm have sucked me back into this amazing time sink... I'll probably be playing EQ till I die.
Haha epic story. Hopefully everything has worked out for the better in the end. I'm right there with you. Even when you think you may be done for the last time... it's not. It's pretty funny that you had the navy connection with the boats etc to get you to try the game. That's interesting.
Cool room i see a lot of similar interests. I’m looking forward to when I can display my collection again. Most people I ask about EverQuest if they never played they almost always knew someone that did and watched them play. At the Pokémon card tournaments I would go to in 1999, a dude would always be playing eq in the corner on a pc they let mostly the staff use for the tournaments. But he got a free pass to play. My cousin and I would watch and that’s how we got into it.
Awee that's really cool. I love earing everyone's start and past hobbies. I do have a collecters heart. It's tough because it can be a money sink and I'm lucky enough to have some room in here to display things. I should spend more time and make things look a little nicer, lol. Haha playin EQ at work back in the day. The dream! Also working at a Pokemon tourny.
I wish I could see through darkness that clouded my mind in those years. To me it was just a far away land. I never rolled a Human, Helf, Erudite or Barb back in the day. So young. So dumb.
I don’t know man… I feel like if you decide to give gear to a low level nube’s main, you shouldn’t really expect it back. That just seems kinda weak sauce to then demand it back later and use your GM connections to ban someone. Who am I though 🤷♂️ back in the day before EverQuest, there was an MMO game called “The Realm.” It was a 2D small screen sized zone game, but was a to. Of fun and is even still playable for free with an active pop. If you were dumb enough to lose gear by a bad deal or otherwise, the GM response was more of like, “oh well, learn to do better next time bub 🤷♂️.”
I feel like that GM that banned you probably didn’t get the whole story there. I’m disappointed the Gm didn’t reach out to you first before taking action. Also weak sauce.
I have actually never heard of that game. I do know that DAOC was like that. If you lost your stuff you lost your stuff. DONT LOSE YOUR STUFF. Yeah, the whole wanted his gear back was total ass. That's why I was so resistant about it.
He told me one of his friends was a GM. I thought he was bullshitting but apparently it was true. So it wasn't even that I did anything wrong at that point. It was that he wanted me banned and he knew someone to do it.

@sendrithrezzeur5845 haha you're not wrong. Gotta change my karma 😅. I didn't even know if the game was good or bad haha. Just being a dick for no reason.
Really enjoyed your origin story! Had a similar or not so similar story with myself getting into D&D 20 years earlier.
@DesertTOON haha nice! It must have been similar seeing as EQ was just the next evolution of D&D. Thank you
thanks for sharing :). never played EQ but the early days of MMOs sound like an exciting time to be a video game player
