hey you im a little confused about the old skse, its not allowing me to boot up the game on my end unless i get the skse AE version, but then my old mods wont run at all, so im at a bit of a loss. does it have anything to do with me using vortex?
@Rogal Dorn The Fortified If you’re on the update, then you have to use the AE Build of SKSE64. If you’re on the downgrade, then you have to use the SE Build. If you’re already using the correct version and the game is instantly closing when opening, that would be an issue with your mods and not SKSE64.
For some reason all of a sudden my old saves are saying they are outdated with something about thier version being 0 and it being 12, but starting a new game seems to cause no issues but i cant access my older saves, i made sure my skyrim game cant update and has yet to become the anniversary edition, do you know how to possibly fix this?

I got a problem within the game tho. After using the patcher, something weird happenned : it turns out i cannot use the keyboard as an input source in the game during gameplay. Yet in the opening menu, I can. And with the controller, I can too. Yet, after the character creation, it is impossible to press the

@@GA5MA5KPON3 I haven't bought the Anniversary Edition yet. I guess I am using the Special Edition, even though I downgraded it to SE if that makes sense. Do you know if after downgrading it to SE should I choose SE or AE version of mods? Because I have some esm of AE like fish.esm

@@Apoqsi i do… ur tutorial worked for me for 2 weeks.. now suddenly when I started SKSE through MO2 it gives me the error that that I’m using a newer version of Skyrim than skse supports…. I have like 250 mods installed and it has always been working just fine… only today I started a new playthrough and run into a crash during the first quest.. so I downloaded SSE Fixes from nexus mods and right after than i got this error… I even deleted SSE fixes and yet it still shows up that error… Consequently I tried using the downgrader patch again on Skyrim se but now the patcher is giving me an error and says: can’t patch file, it doesn’t match the expected format
You saved me tonight! After a while not playing I downloaded Skyrim Special Edition on my new PC and wanted to give it a few mods, so obviously I went to download SKSE and when it said my version was too new I thought no Skyrim this weekend. Glad I found this video! Works wonderfully now.

To anyone saying that this doesn't work, you need to redownload the patcher as the game was updated on steam earlier today. hence the older version of the patcher isn't going to work

I just want to put this out there for those of you who don't use mods, I have the basic ass Skyrim SE, not the AE, I've never run a Skyrim mod in my life and this patcher has still fixed my black screen error.

Another *VERRY* important step is to set the game to only update when starting the game through Steam. That means you should only launch it through Mod Organizer / Nexus Mod Manager/ Vortex etc. There's no telling if Bethesda intends to release yet *another* update in the future which will possibly mess up things again. Better safe than sorry.
@@JL-pc2eh same situation here, launched through vortex but steam wasn't already opened and it auto updated when it launched while I went to get coffee so my modlist got annihilated when i got back and have no idea how to fix it without wiping everything and starting clean

Does anyone know if the patcher is working again? On the Nexus page it looks like it’s been updated, but I’ve re-downloaded it and re-verified my game files, but it still isn’t working. I don’t know much about this stuff at all.
@@madameghostie Look on steam if there were recent updates and take note of when it was updated. Check if the downgrader was updated after the date you took note of. If that's good to go and still not working check what version you're on and either update it or fresh install (if not on 1.59.7) if a fresh install doesnt work lmk and I'll gladly guide you through an alternate method
I was bracing myself for the inevitable- following a terrible JPEG "tutorial" on how to use steamdepot downgrade with tons of unclear steps and software to download- and then I stumbled upon this video. Less than five minutes later, Skyrim is running again and my mods are working. You are truly a god among men. I wish all YT tutorials were this simple and comprehensive.

Skyrim SE just got an update today. You’ll need to wait for the downgrade patcher to work. @Brody If you were experiencing this error beforehand, it’s unrelated to the update today. By any chance do you have a non-Steam / English version of the game?

As explained in the video itself, it’s a rare bug with the Best of Both Word Patcher. As shown in the video, verify game files and use the Full Patcher instead.

I followed the steps and the downgrade worked, however when I tried to run Skyrim through vortex (through skse64) nothing happened, the game doesn't load. Is it because I updated some mods before downgrading and the mods aren't compatible anymore?
I did this last week and everything went smoothly and worked fine. SE updated recently and now I'm getting an error for the patcher. "Error! Can't patch file, it doesn't match the expected format" Any idea why this might be? I followed the instructions correctly. EDIT: I re-downloaded the patcher and it worked fine. Great video.
Wow you're an underated channel. I've been modding games for over 7 years and it is a extreme rarity to find someone who explains how to download / fix something in the detail that you do. Which I mean you wouldn't think is a problem but common sense is a rarity these days 🤣

I checked it out, but at the rate I'm going with the amount of effort I put into remodding prior to the AE drop announcement and then today having Skyrim unbenounced to me without launch from Steam directly via the library (yes I'm not an idiot) update on it's own after a CTD, having launched from SKSE exe in Vortex of course, I'm just going to settle with what I can manage within AE. However on a more positive note I'm very happy to see people going out of their way to help the community with tutorials like these. Thank you!

Thank you so much!, I held off updating this by unticking the auto update, but somehow it happened without my knowledge today. I panicked because I don't actually know much about modding, I have kind of winged it, downloaded vortex and Nemesis, and a nice ENB, and it's been tricky to get things working, finally I had it set up beautifully, 30+ mods, combat overhaul, nice ENB, immsersive mods, animations, quests, dungeons, Homes, vampire/necro/werewolf/magic spells overhaul, all working perfect for my necromancer/evil playthrough, then tonight it just stopped working with that message! Just when I was finally about to stop modding and actually properly enjoy the game. Spent countless hours already trying to make things work, like even nemesis took me days because it wasn't working. I've had some shit news with cancer recently of a family member and as stupid as it sounds this nearly through me over the edge because it was a bit of escape from my shit life atm lol, and I was only just about to play it and lose myself in it. You saved me hundreds of hours of gameplay and now I have this game to play all week on my week off!! thanks so fucking much mate!!!!!!!
It’s update time so here I am once again, lol. Did everything as I did the last couple times (using this video for help) and it worked fine. Unfortunately, this time my game is crashing at launch and my Vortex says some masters are missing. So I guess I’m going to have to figure that part out on my own. I might just have to buy AE and start everything over again to avoid future problems. It’s a leap, I know. But I’m really bad at figuring out this tech stuff. But still, thank you for all of your help. This video has helped me each time an update rolls around and I always come back to it for help. ❤️

I have been struggling to get SKSE working on my pc for a few days now and I play it on Microsoft due to it being free for me and money is an issue atm. Thank you for letting me know about the supported versions though before I wasted anymore time on this. I know it sucks but it's better to find out now rather then later. Can’t use any keys in game when I launch it, even tho I put “0” as the value for bgamepad still can’t move or do anything with keyboard except ~ key

That would indeed be a mod related issue. It could be a mod that is incompatible with the version, bad load order, missing master, etc.
I fixed it by going back and downgrading some of my mods where the new version only worked for AE.

I did this last week and everything went smoothly and worked fine. SE updated recently and now I'm getting an error for the patcher. "Error! Can't patch file, it doesn't match the expected format" Any idea why this might be? I followed the instructions correctly.
EDIT: I re-downloaded the patcher and it worked fine. Great video.

Wow you're an underated channel. I've been modding games for over 7 years and it is a extreme rarity to find someone who explains how to download / fix something in the detail that you do. Which I mean you wouldn't think is a problem but common sense is a rarity these days 🤣

Thanks for the useful tutorial. I checked it out, but at the rate I'm going with the amount of effort I put into remodding prior to the AE drop announcement and then today having Skyrim unbenounced to me without launch from Steam directly via the library (yes I'm not an idiot) update on it's own after a CTD, having launched from SKSE exe in Vortex of course, I'm just going to settle with what I can manage within AE.
However on a more positive note I'm very happy to see people going out of their way to help the community with tutorials like these. Thank you!

Thank you so much!, I held off updating this by unticking the auto update, but somehow it happened without my knowledge today. I panicked because I don't actually know much about modding, I have kind of winged it, downloaded vortex and Nemesis, and a nice ENB, and it's been tricky to get things working, finally I had it set up beautifully, 30+ mods, combat overhaul, nice ENB, immsersive mods, animations, quests, dungeons, Homes, vampire/necro/werewolf/magic spells overhaul, all working perfect for my necromancer/evil playthrough, then tonight it just stopped working with that message! Just when I was finally about to stop modding and actually properly enjoy the game. Spent countless hours already trying to make things work, like even nemesis took me days because it wasn't working.
I've had some shit news with cancer recently of a family member and as stupid as it sounds this nearly through me over the edge because it was a bit of escape from my shit life atm lol, and I was only just about to play it and lose myself in it.
You saved me hundreds of hours of gameplay and now I have this game to play all week on my week off!!

It’s update time so here I am once again, lol. Did everything as I did the last couple times (using this video for help) and it worked fine. Unfortunately, this time my game is crashing at launch and my Vortex says some masters are missing. So I guess I’m going to have to figure that part out on my own.
I might just have to buy AE and start everything over again to avoid future problems. It’s a leap, I know. But I’m really bad at figuring out this tech stuff.
But still, thank you for all of your help. This video has helped me each time an update rolls around and I always come back to it for help. ❤️

At first I thought this didn't work once I installed the patch. But then I realized I disabled my mod configuration menu and SKYUI mod it began to work! I can't thank you enough for this amazing guide! I can finally slay shit like the old days. Thanks a ton mate. I really appreciate it!

Absolute beaut. I was gone for a few weeks and when I came back my steam had to update so I updated it whilst doing some chores and when I came back it took the liberty to update Skyrim for me.. I was pretty pissed off so thanks for this.

I have been struggling to get SKSE working on my pc for a few days now and I play it on Microsoft due to it being free for me and money is an issue atm. Thank you for letting me know about the supported versions though before I wasted anymore time on this. I know it sucks but it's better to find out now rather then later. Hope this works out for everyone else and thank you to everyone who took the time to read this.
