I got the first goal with Tidus but I let the other team get a goal in the second half. After the third overtime, I finally got a goal with Wakka. After 20 years, I have finally won a blitzball game 🍻

FFX is a great example of how to destroy a perfect game with the most awful minigames. I'm on attempt 10? Or so. Every shot I make gets blocked or bounces off the net. I can either get 0-0, which by the third round they score, or they score by the second round. And somehow this isn't even as bad as that freaking chocobo bird balloon nightmare. Maybe a hard reset will do the trick.
See I knew once I left a comment, it would work. No hard reset needed, just one Jecht shot landed and luckily they didn't sink one shot. Thanks for the help!
It's stupid as hell that it doesn't let you retry the minigame since it doesn't tell you that stupid ass words are the directional objective...
For real, I'm playing this through for the first time right now, you can really tell how dated it is when it tries to do stuff like this. It's cool that you *can* win this game and get a secret cutscene: the means to do it aren't even complicated, but they're so poorly explained and incomplete that it just feels insulting

Thank you for this video!! I played this when I was a little and never won. Now as an adult I finally won 3-1! scored 0 in the first half but managed to get 2 goals with Tidus and then 1 with Wakka. I'm so happy lol

That passing tip really helped, thanks! Never won against the Goers as a kid, but I managed to get 2 legit goals on top of the extra Jecht Shot goal, and managed to win 3-0!

To anyone having trouble: Reset if they get the ball at the beginning, because they can run right through you. Probably should reset if they get a goal in the first half at all. Took me 3 tries, but I think it was just bad RNG. Sometimes 2 or 3 players will get right up on you and won't back off, and if they get the ball early you're screwed.
20 years later and I'm still trying. Keeping all these tips in mind but have had to reset like at least 10 times so far. Still now win for me 😪🥲. I just want to win once for my childhood self.
I learned that auto mode is a death trap. I first played in full auto mode and it was 0-0 for the first and second half and overtime.

Finally won after at least 20 try’s. Took a few different times of restarting and then giving up. But I finally beat them. The scored once and I scored once with tidus and once with wakka. Took me forever

Oh maaan! So good!! Scored a goal with Letto or whatever at the start, like what?! Then got the Jecht shot right before the 3 min mark, and ended off with 2 goals from Wakka's Venom shot!!! AHHH its so good lol, I used to just let my team lose when I was growing up playing this.
Yoooo, after 7 attempts, I finally won the match and even though you mentioned all I would get is a Strength Sphere, I was super disappointed when I finally just got a Strength Sphere 😂😂😂 well, at least I can confidently play more later on, thanks for the tips!

Worked for me I won 3-0 with this strategy. In the first half, I had an opportunity because all goers players advanced and let the other attacker free I just passed to him and swam almost inside the goal and shot without blockers. Second half I scored with Tidus and Wakka's special shoots.
Looks easy enough!

Heh, I am one of the rare players who enjoys blitzball so much that I won my first time twenty years ago and still spend tens of hours playing it on the HD version.
even following this guide i get 2 people trying to tackle me, this is painful i dont understand why people decide to base the experience of their games on a random number generator. im just supposed to reset it x amount of times until i get the favorable rng where i can run an exploit to have a chance to clear it :O
There is just not enough time, and by the time I do get to the enemy goal I am surrounded by 4 people and Jecht Shot only works for 4 people. I have rewatched the same long cutscene 8 times.

lol how tf does this work? each time i got the ball the have 4 ppl to defend, then they got the ball my team s no where near lmfao, how tf im gonna survive against 4 for pass/break?
This some BS !! Everytime I got the ball same thing happens, You have to get lucky getting the ball first until halftime , go behind your goal keeper they all start spinning getting confused where'd you go stupid goers, try to pass the ball back and forth with tidus lvl 3 to change jecht shot after halftime after getting 1 jecht in hide behind goal with ball 😂😂😂after wakka come in you just have to pray you get the ball to hide again
The biggest problem is the cheating. The Goers for sure cheat. Mostly during break throughs and blocks. A Goers player will have 4 block vs 10 pass and somehow it will remove 8 total instead of 4. I still to this day cannot figure that part out.
There’s a 50% modifier for each individual player for their stat so they can do potentially 50% more or 50% less. The computer definitely gets more most of the time though
I'm pretty sure if you want to break the ai you can score one goal and then swim with the ball behind your own goal and the opposition can't do anything about it for the remainder of the time. Makes for a less fun game but if you're struggling for the win get jecht shot, score then hog the ball and break the ai to victory
I saved my game beforehand because after like 20 years I still haven't won so I keep restarting and trying I don't want to give up 😩. I have trouble orienting my vision on the direction because of the camera views they confuse me and my vision is already not great as it is :/. Heres to hoping that I win at some point finally. Thanks for the tips, too.

Damn I failed the Jecht Shot minigame, and don't have it. Is it really required? Or is the Sphere Shot sufficient?
You can do it without but it’s much harder. The Jecht shot allows you to bypass 2 defenders when shooting.

The hardest thing at this part in the game is the rng.
I must be playing a different game...2nd half they just running through 3 defenders at a time and scoring...im lucky to get a goal in the 1st half, losing consistently 3-1 everytime...2nd half they're just unstoppable, if they get their hands on the ball my team can't stop them

The aeons level with Yuna so the best way to level them is to switch Yuna into as many battles as possible

That first game is a bitch but afterwards when you recruit the guy in Luca, the guy at Rins Travel Agency and the girl on the Moonflow you literally may not lose another game as long as you have Jecht shot. I can easily get 7 goals in a game
I wanted to try and actually win this game for once and even with this strat, I failed 😞 When I was passing in the first quarter one of the Goers intercepted and scored. So I tried to get two goals in the second half - got one with Tidus, and then the fucking Goers tech copied Wakka and made his Venom shot miss. In overtime, I couldn’t keep the ball and lost 😠 So mad I hate this game it’s so stupid.

This technique sounds GREAT...until you actually play the game and the players defense is complete shit and randomized anyway. What a horrible minigame. Awful.
I'm so annoyed at this game, the other side keeps getting a goal before I even touch the ball. And once I get the ball I encounter about 3 players almost immediately.
Edit: finally won it after I wrote this. Will never gain back the time I wasted watching that stupid cut scene
