Marcus is hands down the most emotionally strong character in the series. Not only physically. He witnessed so much darkness, the death of so many of his brothers. Yet he's still going.
The fact that some people think Dominic's death is worse than Ben's is insane to me. Dom went out with a bang protecting his squad and friends with the peace of mind knowing he was going to see Maria again. Meanwhile after a huge firefight, after narrowly escaping you think: yeah we did it. We made it. But no. You see this huge ass giant worm that you know is now the cause of all the major cities being sunk. Hell you SAW Ilima being sunk. And now its coming straight for you. You get eaten by this thing and somehow you're barely alive, lost, alone, scared and you end up getting feasted on by some disgusting creatures. By some miracle your squad comes across you but by that point it's already too late. All you want to do is see your family again. Your brother Clayton. You know he's going to be miserable because it was hard for both of you losing Anthony and now you. You try to get all the words out but you can't but you said the important part. And then that's it. Lights out. THAT is why Benjamin Carmine's death will be the most tragic for me. A good kid lost to the horrors of war.
I want to agree, but then part of me also realises everything that Dom suffered through, from losing his brother not long before, to his children and family, his wife disappearing, best friend being imprisoned, etc but yeah, they're both really sad tbh.

I'm heartbroken these deaths, well, mostly the actually heartbreaking ones... I even like how when Marcus picks up Tai's COGtag, the jingle plays from when you find a COGtag in game, nice detail... Still sad as shit.
I remember playing through this whole series with my dad growing up. He was always dom and I was always marcus. I still remember the tears we both had when we played this split screen on the weekend we played when gears 3 came out and he had me for custody. This series will always be near and dear to my heart.
Marcus told dom that if he wanted to go out guns blazing for maria, he would understand. Dom replied saying that he wanted to kill them all. When i watched this scene it made me cry like 2x harder bc of what marcus said. RIP dom 🙏

A small detail (idk if it was intentional) but every piece of dialogue I've heard Marcus say was in the manliest tone, even his reaction to dom's death. But the first few words after his dad died, he sounded child like, quickly returning to his manliest tone.
I actually sheded a tear on doms death and I've seen it so many Times but I still shed a couple tears every time I watch it gears of war is one of the best game series ever it was almost like I knew dom on a personal level so it was like one of my closest friends died I have been playing this games for 6 years I started playing gears of war when I was 5 now I'm eleven my first gears of war game was gears of war 2 then it was gears of war 3 then gears of war 1 so there was 3 year span of completing ever single one so it was like i knew dom for 3 years I remember having to go grab tissues to wipe my eyes and It takes a lot to make me cry when I first played gears of war 3 I thought there's no way one of gears of wars best characters just died there must be a plot twist and that he must have jumped out at the last second and didn't die but he did die easily top 5 saddest moments of a game I've played Cole is my favorite character but dom was my second favorite rip Dominic Santiago at least his death wasn't in viene he died to help his friends rip dom😣

I'm pretty sure that every gears fan is still torn up about Doms death, I get the chills every time I play gears three.
