home made fog curtain DIY

  • What I did was hook a 400 watt fog machine up to a bucket. The bucket has 2 holes drilled on the bottom opposite sides. Inside the bucket is a coiled plastic tube (from pool skimmer) filled with ice. Then opposite the fog machine side I hooked up a pvc pipe with tiny drilled holes. Duct taped all connections and there you go. The smoke would look more like a wall but in the video it's only 2 1/2 ft off the ground.
    You could easily use a projector to put and image on this for any occasion. Halloween, christmas, a haunted house, a wedding

    I actually did this just for a test for a haunted house. We plan on it flowing in a doorway and will flash pictures on it as patrons are about to walk through. The key to it flowing down better is cooling the fog as much as possible. But yeah outside if it was breezy it wouldn't be great but it's more for inside

    that is awesome. you could string some cool lights along the back of the pipe and it would be awesome colors too. nice!!

    Great idea and use. Gave me some ideas for around the front porch. Just have to configure where to hide the unit and other gear.
    Thanks

    Nice! Love the aluminum foil lid ^v^ I'm making a mini trash can chiller 5 gal bucket like this for a fogging cauldron this year. I had 3" x 8ft semi-rigid aluminum drier duct form a previous chiller. I've been tempted to put the back pressure pipe on the end of my trash can chiller (The guys who designed the trash can chiller actually use a perforated irrigation hose these days not the can).

    Thanks!! And I was actually planning on doing tue light thing with a food truck I'm starting. The fog will be all around the bottom and green lights making it look all creepy !!

    Thanks, I used the tubing from a pool vacuum. I think it was a little too thick though. Any type of flexible tubing would work and the thinner the better, that way it will cool down the fog more and help it to fall better when it leaves the drilled pipe.

    I used pool vacuum tubes that were thick. What I meant was thinner tubes. The thinner the tubes the better. Kind of like dryer vent connections

    of coarse it's going to move as you walk through it but it'll go right back to normal. This one was just a test and it will work even smoother and better if the tubing in the cooler was thinner and the holes in the pipe were a little smaller.

    Neet-o, but, not too sure how it would do if the effect is outside, Seems like it could be quickly ruined by even a hint of a breeze.

    So wait.. its better for smaller tubing? Every other fog chiller i read keeps sayin to get the largest tubes you can... ? Confused...

    AirLife Corrugated Aerosol BLUE Tubing "medical tubing" works great and slips directly onto 1/2 PVC not to mention its super thin "CHEAP" tubing and cools very fast. Making ours now, just trying to figure out the settling aspect as it flows through the holes of the pvc pipe.

      one thing I've noticed over the years making different fog curtain set ups. smaller tubing and smaller holes don't work well. So do yourself a favor and have the holes close together and decent sized. Also the small 400 watt machines don't push well all the time.

      Yeah I'm seeing that now... Thinking we will have to go with larger pipe and tubing as we are not getting the effect like we'd like. Thanks for the video though, love the idea!

    is the plastic tube filled with normal ice or dry ice? and the plastic tube is connected to the fog machine and outer white pipe?

    • @ZombieLife
      @ZombieLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      octavian prostean the fog matching is connected to the pool skimmer hose. And yes used normal ice for the video but hey dry ice would work also

    Thanks !!!!! Yeah it's literally like a $10 project (besides the fog machine and juice)

    Can't you just hook it up to a regular fog machine, with the pipe over the part the fog comes out?

      The fog needs to be cooled. Heat rises

    So why cool it? Would it work without cooling?

    • @ZombieLife
      @ZombieLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GetMet heat rises. And fog is heated. So cooling it helps it fall to the ground

    Here's another fog machine hack ii did the other day. This is more to fill the house or haunt up quick. Which will actually save fog juice as well!!!

    I'm not sure what the point in the ice and bucket is all about.... I'm a mobile DJ... I want to run something like this off my light rack, but bringing an ice bucket is not ideal.

    • @ZombieLife
      @ZombieLife  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mavericke sorry, i didn't see your comment. But yeah like exact science said, it cools the fog down so it falls instead of filling the air. Remember heat rises so the cooler you get the fog the lower and more dense it will become.
