- This is my 3.5 mile commute to work, it's mostly downhill and you can get a feel for the downhill speeds you might achieve. This is with the bike unlocked at max speed and max pedal assist. I mostly use pedaling and only throttle to start. It's no joke, I am seriously considering upgrading my safety gear, from helmet to some kind of protective jacket.
This is coming from the owner of a driving school for 14 years in Phoenix AZ. If you're not going to stop at a stop sign then at least slow down before proceeding through. When people say the bike came out of nowhere this is what they mean. The weight/speed makes it harder to control or worst case scenario ditch if you can't avoid hitting someone. Cyclists want respect on the road and deserve it but the laws are for everyone. I just received mine last monday and look forward to riding it, Good video sir!
I'm not making excuses, but I did slow and could see no cars coming... so I ummm.... proceeded??? In a residential area stop signs are not that critical, in a busy metropolitan area, I think much more important to follow the traffic laws.
i give him credit for stopping at lights/signs in general..... nothing worse than stopping momentum when unnecessary
Should get a pair of meachow 2022 mirrors on Amazon. Great mirrors for seeing around you good and safety. Got left and right on my Kepler. Such a great bike.
I got a rearview camera instead. That way it doesn't make my bike any wider for commuting in traffic.
Kepler needs dual motors!
I think that's The Grizzly. Honestly, I would be scared to go much faster on this bike without some real safety gear.
that def is the beast of fat tire bikes! nice video and commentary! I like to ride with my kids who don't have ebikes and worried even at the lowest level, they won't be able to keep up. Is there a way to manually ride it in PAS=0 and use the throttle when needed for a boost? I don't think it is, and if not, can you adjust the % of assist on each PAS? I want to basically bike very slowly when needed and not have it speed up all the time when in PAS mode.
You can absolutely ride this bike at PAS 0, I did it this weekend. By adjusting the max speed of the bike and number of PAS levels, you can make this bike go as slow or fast as you want. You can't manually set the PAS at each level though, that would be cool. I currently pedal the bike at PAS 0 at about 8-10mph on flat ground with mild effort.
@@thejunker5961 thanks for the quick reply sir!! Do you know if the throttle can be used for quick bursts when riding in pas=0? And if so can the pas levels be set to 0 , 1, 2, 3 and the throttle be used in each level ?
Throttle can be used at any time, in PAS 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (you can set the # of PAS you want). However, throttle gives full power regardless of which PAS level you are in, and goes to full speed setting. The throttle is proportional, so depending on how much you turn, decides how fast you go. I've found it challenging to manage the throttle this way as the torsion spring rate on the throttle is kinda stiff. So, for me, it's either full throttle to get moving and then I adjust speed through pedal control. You can ghost pedal at lower PAS to get it to go to slower speeds.

if your in gear 7... the max....... whats the max speed u can go where ur actually contributing to the bike? aka where ur pushing the bike and not just ghost pedaling? im guessing its a 14-28 freewheel...... i dont remember what size the front ring is (teeth wise)
On flat ground, I can regularly get 35mph while helping pedal. Going downhill, I've been up to 45mph while helping to pedal.
Thnx for the video Junker. That's what I plan to do with mine, commute to work. Hhhmmm interesting the idea to use the rear view camera/monitor instead of the mirrors. In a sunny day with the sun behind you or at night with the cars headlights, how good is the view on the monitor???
When cars have their headlights on it works really well, like in the morning. It's really high noon where there is a lot of glare and hard to see.
How stable do you feel going at max speed? Does the bike feel solid? I'm looking to get a ebike for commuting as well and this is one of my top picks since I'm a heavy guy. I'm worried that wear and tear will cause problems
Got mine a week ago and it’s very sturdy/solid. I’m 6 foot 220 and I can barely touch my feet to the ground with the seat all the way down. My dad who’s about 260 was riding it up hills no problem
This bike feels amazing at speed, it's scary how stable it is above 35mph. I'm 210 and haven't had any problems.
So true, this bike has all the power you need for just about anything. I really love how much power it has for hills and starting.
What is your battery level after a average commute ..how much are you using both ways 🤔 I get mine next month can't wait my other bikes my get jealous lol
I try to start at 80% (since this extends battery life). When I get to work (3.5miles downhill, full PAS, fast as possible) it's about 55%. Then on the way home (big uphills, full PAS, fast as possible), it gets to low 30%. When I don't ride it like a maniac, I get 20 miles out of it and still have plenty of battery charge. Really just depends on how hard you push the batter. It's been a great bike.

@@seangaffney581 You can easily get 30 mpc if you lay off the throttle and don't want to go 30 mph. I need to do a range test at 20mph with Pedal Assist. I think that would be an interesting data point.
I'd recommend you get riding gloves.
What are the benefits? I've always found gloves constricting and make my hands sweaty. I need to change the grips first, I'm not a fan of the palm rest grips, I want a more secure grip when going 40mph.
@@thejunker5961 If you get into an accident (a car hits you off or you spin out) a good pair of gloves will allow you to keep the flesh on your hands and reduce the chance of fractures in your wrist, arms and shoulder. DO NOT look up "degloving" injurie pictures (although now you are definably gonna look it up lol)
No way this bike can go almost 40MPH your speed odometer is off.
What is the model of your rear view camera and monitor
It's the IPOZITO from Amazon. I'm not thrilled with it. I wish it were brighter and you could adjust the zoom. But for the price point, it's a pretty good value and has great battery life, haven't charged it once yet.
I ride in evenings on scenic roads that have a bunch of trees it gets dark on these roads 30 mins earlier so the brightness shouldn’t be an issue and one thing I didn’t want was a bunch of different devices that need to be charged I wanted everything on the ebike battery but obviously that isn’t 100% possible with accessories like this but that battery life sounds amazing because I wouldn’t remember to charge it everyday and I do not want to be without it so sounds like it should work for me thx for the info love the vids keep ‘em coming
I also have a question…do you feel that it’s a bit of a workout? Would you consider it a workout? Obviously it can be pedaled with no assist but during pedal assist do you find you can get a workout when you want to?
This is the first ebike I have ever owned and the thing I like is that I can choose how hard I want to work and how fast I want to go. I've definitely done some rides home where I was pushing it and getting a workout. By adjusting the top speed, it's very easy to recalibrate the pedal assistance to whatever riding style you want to do at the time. I did a 20 mile ride with low PAS and definitely felt I got a workout that day,
