The slower doo-wop style set the mood of someone thinking about their family while in prison. Home Free as usual did a totally outstanding job on the song and the video. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family. The song focuses on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".

Was days of 45 records and we sang along with it Doo Wop, hot rods girls in poodle skirts, leather jackets and wooden match sticks between lips. Night my best girl and I got kicked out of dance night insmall rural high school Gym for dancing too close. We snuck back in two more times and at third time other guys and gals joined us. When you mentioned how low the one can go it reminded me of the Oak Ridge Boys and how low their baritone could go. And Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys did a rendition of “Elvira” together. While the song was always goofy it was something to hear all the harmonies between the two bands.

I grew up dancing miles and crying a million tears to this song, being a teen. I love this arrangement, it similar to the original but different enough to notice, not enough to make you cringe thankfully. So far have never heard a cover from Home Free, Voiceplay or PTX that made me go, they messed up that song, it has always been an upgrade to me.
