    So now, I do just that. Open the gate, use the ceiling of the gate to build up some speed, and the redirect my angle (out of bounds) to build up the rest. Now, you're probably wondering what I need all this speed for. After all, I do built up speed for 12 hours. But to answer that, we need to talk about parallel universes. And if you thought my other tangents were complicated, just you wait. Okay. So Mario's position if a Floating Point Number, but it's converted to a Short when the game uses it to test for collision with Floor Triangles. In other words, Mario's position can basically be any decimal number, but it's converted to an integer between -32,768 and +32,767 inclusive. So, any fractional portion is truncated and numbers too big or too small are moved into this range using the modulo operator. Graphically, that means that the position used for floor detection is always inside of this box. So if Mario's in this box, then his actual position, and the position used for floor detection are the same. (Albeit, maybe off by a single fraction due to the truncation.) But if Mario leaves that box, then his actual position, and the position used for floor detection well separate, since the percentage used for floor detection will just loop back arou

    This level was my favorite. Loved the highway-like components of this level. It was literally I-95 in Westchester County, NY, with the cuplight luminaire lamposts (a variant of the high-mast highway lighting). That was the tone of hazy maze cave.

    One of my favorite SMB tunes was World 1-2. You could say it's my second favorite to 1-1. I loved playing this level on my 64. I would play it just to listen to this music.

    Alright, but where's the actual dungeon? This soundtrack is called "Cave Dungeon", yet I have not seen any dungeon in the entire game.

      The entire level is a goddamn dungeon, because you can't figure out which direction is up after 30 minutes of playing.

    • @WerewolfLPSoldier
      @WerewolfLPSoldier 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      English is not my first language, I thought that the word "dungeon" refered to an underground prison when I made that comment. I later figured it out that "dungeon" also means "labyrinthine subterranean". So yeah, basically Hazy Maze Cave, the pyramid, and the igloo are the Cave Dungeon of Super Mario 64. Also, it should not be that hard to figure out which direction to go if you are referring to Hazy Maze Cave; there is a reason why the level itself has a map to guide the player.

      @@yexxii- Maybe the secret room is the wiggle's cage in Tiny Huge Island, that could also be the Cave Dungeon.

      When video games use the term Dungeon it usually means an interior area (mainly a cave but can also be used in general for any interior) that is filled with enemies and loot

    Por alguna razón, cuando e ido creciendo, siendo Mario 64 el primer juego que jugué en mi vida y mi segundo videojuego favorito. Siento que tiene un aura más melancólica o escalofriante en su juego, dejando de lado los niveles más movidos como el 1, 2, 4 y 10. Aunque es algo que e visto en general en la 64, juegos como que más tétricos, quisas esos gráficos poligonales hacían que se sintiera así, incluso jugando juegos de Psx, en N64 siento que el la atmósfera incluso en juegos infantiles es algo más pesada.

    • @hearther3811
      @hearther3811 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      los gráficos poligonales fueron un factor, pero no la causa, en aquel entonces los gráficos en 3D estaban en pañales, y al no haber tantos recursos como ahora, había que diseñar los niveles más para lo funcional que para lo estético, a esto, sumarle que no estaba nada estandarizado el contenido en videojuegos aparte de la ESRB, el resultado: alguno que otro nivel que no coincidía con el aura del resto del juego (Hazy Mazy Cave, Shadow Temple, Gloomy Galleon, etc.), animaciones por momentos inusualmente realistas y escenas que rayaban en el horror
      en lo personal esa falta de regulación les dió cierto encanto que a día de hoy no se ha podido recrear, menos superar...
