Edward Kenway is the best because he was interesting, he wasn't some hero assassin guy who's entire story is basic with a normal story, he was a guy who was in denial of getting too close with people, he thought all he wanted to do was get rich but he really just wanted to have a good life and not be treated like shit. His entire vendetta turns around from pirate to assassin when Mary dies, and it keeps us interested and in touch with the character.

Although Ezio may not be the number one assassin when it comes to combat, we all have to admit that he had the most influence on the other games. He was able to revive the brotherhood, liberate Roma, and pretty much take on a whole army. He makes sure that the Apple of Eden is secure, so that Desmond may retrieve it later. We also get to see Ezio from the moment he is born, to his fifties. There are three games to his name for a reason. He's done far too much for the series for his life to be put into only one game. Ezio is in my opinion, the best assassin we play as. May you murder street musicians in heaven.

+Stef Blaauwgeers Yeah, but in one of the earlier missions, Edward "becomes" a Templar to get Duncan's reward. He gets paid nowhere near as much as he thought he would, so he slowly turned against them and learned of the observatory. And then everything else happened. :)
My two favorites are Altaiir and Ezio. I liked both of their stories. And we got to see Ezio grow amd develop as an awesome assassin.
My least favorite is probably Edward Kenway. Idk I feel like Altaiir starts fighting for the truth, Ezio starts fighting for revenge for his family and Edward....uh...fights for treasure and to get laid???

If I had to throw one overboard (Geddit? Overboard? Because Edward.. Pirate.
Cliché.. nevermind.), I would ultimately choose Altaïr. Like Connor, he was a stubborn person with almost zero personality and not much development. However, Ezio and Edward are funny and witting, and towards the end of Black Flag he seems redemption for his pirate lifestyle and becomes more of an assassin than a pirate.

Was caught 3 times in his carrer with at least 50 successfull contracts, often executing multiple targets, and acomplishing things like procuring, detroying, bugging, and ensuring the safety of VIPs. Not to mention the people he killed out personal reasons.

I know for a fact in Ezio is the favorite assassin overall but I've always been partial to Connor mostly because my first Assassin's Creed game was the third but also because I just feel like he's the one who knew the least of what he was getting himself into. also in some ways he was the most naturally talented out of all of them.

same. the last AC was great but really short.
Syndicate was just a useless game it added nothing to the main story and was the shortest AC game since the first game.

caleb andrews I actually liked Unity the combat was good and felt rewarding but it also felt modern story line wise. Both Syndicate and Unity both felt undone (more so syndicate) with their stories and their side missions.

that one anime fanatic so has Ezio... he has killed innocents, even if indirectly, he rarely hides in plain sight as most of the time he is out in the open and Killin people without being stealthy. most of all, Ezio brought suffering and death to many others of the assassin order by allowing the location of Montergioni to he located, leading to the death of his uncle. it is also due to his ignorance that assassin hideouts and bases were discovered and attacked in Rome.

I like Altair, though he is not the best at combat, but he is the most wise and without him reviving the brotherhood, the assassins would have been defeated and templars would be able to gain control country after country, until every assassin is dead or captured(but more likely dead).

Altair and Ezios Skills are unmatched as both of them are incredibly powerful.
Since Altair was trained to become an assassin when he was little. He has the upper gain against Ezio who is almost equally good..
Connor and Edward Are two Cunning assassins. Edward Didn't have any training or some sort.. he learned through Experience.. where as Connor can easily take out an entire army using his skills... Shay also have equally powered skills comparing to Edward and Connor... But he too was trained to become a Templar and then he converted to The brotherhood... Which makes him having a slight advantage...
Edward was more like a killer than an assassin, having in mind of how many people he kills as a pirate cpt. with his ship....although he is my favorite character I can't tell if he is the greatest assassin

connor watches his mother burn, aswell as his village, and sets out on a quest to stop those who killed his people from striking again, he follows principle and discipline, and is very determined to do the right thing. he doesnt waste time with finding a women to be in his life, and even goes as far as to kill his own father. also, he was one tough son of a bitch. he took a cannon ball to the ribs, and had a large piece of wood lodged into his side. yet he still eventually came out on top
