Call of Duty: Black Ops is set in the Cold War era. Much of the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign is told through the eyes of SOG and CIA operative Alex Mason, primarily through flashbacks. Mason is asked questions by an unknown interrogator about a numbers broadcast which is being used to contact Soviet sleeper cells in the United States. BO2 was fun since you could get completely different endings depending what you did in a lot of the missions. Such as not killing Mason but shooting him in the leg. Letting your partner get shot and whether or not you rescue that one hacker girl. A lot more replay value. OR just watch it on YT.

Nova6 was in it for like 1 minute just so Treyarch can say "See, its just like Back Ops" as well as having an excuse to kill off a character. I mean yeah it was used to kill off everyone in a lab but I mean "meh". They could have used any gas and it would still be the same outcome.

Also, in that russian operation, there is guy named Dmitriy Petrenko, a friend and main protagonist of World at War. So it makes sense, that Reznov is so fucking angry, they killed his friend, who went through the whole WW2 with him.

SafenKD If you play the game fully it hints at it being mason so saving him is the right way to play campaign.
SafenKD If you get all the documents and Don't immediately kill kravchenko and do some other things your character becomes uneasy and then it gives flashbacks hinting and basically telling you it's mason.
