    The sixth generation of Honda’s popular CR-V debuts for 2023. This all-new model represents the largest CR-V evolution to date. It’s bigger and more capable, it’s got a new, truckier look, and it’s got new direction, too. Honda has cut the base LX from the lineup, and they’ve made the Sport and Sport Touring trims both hybrid-only. We took the top-of-the-line Sport Touring out in Santa Barbara to find out just why the CR-V Hybrid is the best CR-V available in 2023.

    I just got my sport hybrid this week and love it. It’s such a step up from my 2012 CRV. The drive experience is great, the technology is impressive and makes me feel safe. The seats hug me and the leather steering wheel feels great in my hands. For the price, this is a fantastic car.

    Nice review. A couple of comparative questions: How does highway cabin quietness compare to a Subaru Outback? How does ride comfort and handling compare to an Outback?

    • @edwardavilajr8935
      @edwardavilajr8935 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've driven both. But your comparison is apples and oranges. This is a review for a Hybrid. The only Hybrid Subaru has at the moment is the Crosstrek. Outback starts at around $28K CRV Hybrid starts at 32K. To answer your questions. Noise, the nod goes to the Subie, but not by much. Handling, Subie feels a bit tighter, lighter, and sits lower. Because it is. Depending on options, the Subie starts at around 3600 lbs give or take. The CRV Hybrid I believe starts at around 3900-ish. Bottom line, the CRV compares more to the Forester, not as much the Outback. They are both capable, with the off road nod going to Subaru. But at the end of the day, it comes down to how much you're willing to pay and which looks better to you. Me for example, I actually think the new Honda designs are ugly. Their global architecture strategy might save Honda $, but it means copying designs from one model to another. Making them look similar (boring). I prefer the outgoing CRV, heck I am actually getting one of the last 2022 CRV Hybrids myself. But again, matter of personal taste. No I don't work for car gurus, which is why I can say I don't like the look. Most reviewers will say nicer things because they want to be given access to exclusives. Saying bad things might compromise that, so some reviews tend to be neutered. That being said, I actually used to test drive and write about cars and the industry many many many years ago. Peace!

    Thank you for the review. If I had to choose between the 2023 CRV Touring and the base trim of 2023 Pilot, I would go with CRV. Both are missing rear view camera, 12 inch infotainment screen, and ventilated seats. The Pilot offers IVTM4 AWD, but the CRV offers electric power and fuel economy which is of more benefit to me. BTW, you can replace a single tire on an AWD vehicle by shaving it yo match the wear of the other three.

    Honda says to change the oil every 10K miles. That’s just stupid.
    We use Mobile 1 full synthetic oil and change it every 4K miles, even though Mobile 1 says that you can drive it for 10K miles between changes.
    Before synthetic oil, I changed my oil every 2,500 miles.
    I guess that’s why I can get 300+K miles from my vehicles

      That's not stupid. Honda might know a thing or two about engines and how to make them last, so listen to them. 1-You must use Honda's genuine fluid, regardless whatever other sellers and mechanics tell you, besides they're just a tad more expensive. 2-The car's computer will tell you when to change it, sometimes it's before the 10K mark.

      @adamesd3699 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting that you say that. I used to have a 2017 CRV and currently have a Passport. The Passport is bigger and much better to drive, but it’s a gas guzzler (19 mpg in everyday mixed driving). Over $100 per fill up at the pump in California. That’s easily another monthly car payment.
      I’m looking at the 2023 CRV hybrid to get some of the size and oomph of the Passport, without the mpg hit.
      As for the RAV4, I just rented one. Decent handling and really easy to drive, with decent cargo capacity. But the rear seat legroom is so much smaller than the CRV, it’s almost in a different size class.
