Thanks for watching this video and i really hope you enjoyed watching it! Your views and kind donations to the channel keep us doing what we are doing - so thank you - it's humbling. Should you wish to see more ... keep watching as parts aren't cheap 🙀
Well done Jon and Pete another great job done and you both have virtually rebuilt that by the looks of it! It seems far easier to repair than the 451 and easier to take apart have a lovely bank holiday weekend all of you Daniel
Your dad has worked wonders again on the Salvage you keep bringing him Jon LOL this show is reminding me of Salvage Rescue now lol next up find your dad an old Morris Minor to restore lol
Just replaced my smart 450 cabrio exhaust. Took less than 2 hours and 80 euro exhaust on eBay. Car didn’t run for a year and was abandoned. He gave it to me for free. Alternator was stuck from rust, battery dead, steering u joint was seized, oil leak, old gas, old oil, and scorched connects for headlight swutch connects. Less than 300 to get it going and fixed!
@@swedeyp9047 thanks for watching ☺️ hopefully by now then you have realised it's got nothing to do with the cars but it's about just spending time with my Dad 😉
You and @hubnutvids are influencers as I previously was meh about a Smart for two now interest is well interested. Wife says no but 26 yo daughter who has finally decided to learn to drive thinks I should - she may have an ulterior motive lol
Take the exhaust off before attacking the lambda in future - visible stress into the turbo manifold and the studs/ nuts on the manifold don’t take kindly to it.. harder to do off the car, but saves on problems down the line. Less of an issue with the 698cc larger studs and nuts, but I’d still be careful.
@@ferrumignis the earlier ones (599cc) in particular are incredibly fragile - you can damage the block threads. I unfortunately speak from past experience and I’d not challenge Jon’s dad to an arm wrestle back then!
The reason that the engine and previous exhaust and Cat failed so spectacularly was because the car was only sparking on two cylinders, a load of unburned fuel went into the exhaust and ignited, and to top it off some “Absolute Bellend” stubbornly kept driving it another hundred miles until everything failed catastrophically ! 😂
Agh, sorry, I know about those exhausts, they are utterly sh*t. It'll last about a week longer than the warranty and cause you to hate motorways. Ear plugs recommended. The best replacement exhausts are a good used one, but they're now difficult to come by.
I agree the quality of these after-market exhausts isn't a patch on the original Smart part, but his old one seems to have lasted pretty well and I have a similar one on my 450 that's now around 5 years old (and looking pretty crusty). It's a shame there isn't enough space for a Roadster exhaust, they are stainless and last very well.
Well I know what I'm getting myself into as it's a like for like replacement 🙂 I agree it's a bit loud in comparison to an OEM but as stated ... If I could have got one ... I would have done. I'll just have to turn the radio up a bit more 😂👍
Hubnut has no idea what he is up to ...his cars are rubbish and his garage is so unorganised he also has rubbish tools no wonder he never fixes anything a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing

Very nice ... Good job Jon Peter , it's always great to see the 450 👌
Cheers 😊👏

Thanks 👍 you too
You always make it look so easy and fun 😄👌
Thank you! Cheers! ... But it's Dad that makes it look easy 😂
I have just come back from a weeks holiday in Tuscany, Italy. We were 15 minutes from Lucca and 40 from Pisa. I have never seen so many Smart’s.
I bet they are popular for just nipping about! Hope you had a lovely time ☺️
The Smart Tractor is no more 😂 Thanks for the video guys 😊
Our pleasure!

Excellent! Sounds like a job well done :)
I do hope it lasts you many years Jon, beautiful day for working on a car before it gets to hot though.
Thanks Paul 😄
Dad is a legend, bet he has a dry sense of humour too
He certainly is a legend 💪
I think job well done. Sounds good i watched HubNut do his starter he did good enough job. 😊😊
Thanks mate 😁
You sound just like my non car mates "why you doing that" "what you doing that for" standing there being a supervisor!
If you don't ask the question ... You never learn ;)
You will never learn unless you try either.
😂
@@swedeyp9047 who says I don't ... ☺️
@JonCoupland I've seen enough of your videos the make judgement. 👀🙊

Glad we're spreading the word about them :)
This exhaust was not worse the work, I had a brabus 120hp. Plus turbo valve which has a reasonable sound and performance
Bet it sounds great 👍

If you can break the manifold studs via a spanner on the oxygen sensor then you must have arms like the hulk.
Some good advice for the future
Haven't you seen Dad's arms ;)

I have a 2015 with a terrible exhaust leak lol. What did the parts cost you on this job? Thank you
Around £120
But to clarify a 2015 would have a different set up. That will cost around £350
Why was it necessary to jack up the car and remove the wheels if only the exhaust is being replaced??
We did other work on the car at the same time which is documented in a separate video 😄👍
❤🎉
Cheers Fred 🙂

Yup. You are absolutely right 🤣 ... But I was on the way to see a Proton so got excited 😆
