- In June 20, 1995, the infamous Belkan War came to a close after a peace treaty was signed between Belka and the Allied Forces in the city of Lumen. Having been defeated, Belka begrudgingly accepted the Allied Forces terms of surrender and was forced to relinquish control of their southern territory and the South Belka Munitions Factory to the Osean Federation. However, these territorial and industrial losses wouldn’t be the only losses that Belka would suffer.
Their legendary Air Force was completely ravaged, having lost large numbers of pilots and aircraft alike. These factors, combined with Belka’s low population had led them to brand any surviving active pilot they had in their roster to be reclassified as a precious resource. To make up for the massive loss of manpower and utilities, a general within the Belkan military had proposed to reconstruct the Air Force. Unfortunately, this plan never came to fruition due to the cuts in government spending.
With their pride as the pioneers of aerial combat on the line, Belka needed to find a way to rebuild their military might while minimizing troop losses as much as possible. Their solution to this problem, came in the form of unmanned technology

I feel like when Aces are brought up, nobody talks about Scarface.
Lore wise he's fuckin crazy man.
Scarface 1 is just fucking insane, tied with Cipher as the most powerful Ace:
It took Razgriz Squadron assistance to fell Scinfaxi and Hrimfaxi. Phoenix felled what's theorized to be the original of their kind in Fensalir and Folkvangr... *by himself,* the latter of which was armed with a guided nuke which Phoenix chased down and destroyed.
It took Mobius 1 an entire air force and ground assault troops to assist him to take down Megalith. Meanwhile, Phoenix took down Fortress Intolerance, the original of Megalith's kind, by himself (or with one wingman at max) right after going through what's basically the superior successor of the Morgan, one-upping even *Cipher.*
Mobius 1 struggled against Yellow Squadron throughout most of the Second Continental War. Phoenix took down what's flat-out described as Erusea's strongest squadron in Albireo, once again, either by himself or with a wingman.
Plus, you know how much of a bastard it was to deal with Mobius 1 in The Gauntlet? Try fighting Scarface 1 in Operation X on Ace Difficulty! He's the superboss of that game along with Z.O.E. for a reason!
The best part? There are other feats we don't know, as his aircraft's lore about him in Infinity imply that the events of Air Combat and Legacy are, I quote, "yet another page to his book of legendary feats."
It still took him being in a superplane to shoot down an A.I. in a superplane. Cipher imo is better. No need for a superplane, just his F-15C and being too pissed off to die.
@@ProfessionalNamielleLewder69 never bad mouth an ace, every ace is called legendary for a reason, not opinion or bias, combat logs are used for a reason, if all the aces had to fight each other, everyone would run out of fuel or missiles, they are that equal to each other. I feel like most of the community doesn’t pay attention at all during the story, m1 was respected for generations, yet the fandom under play his missions, and I feel like he never needed a squad but to prove a point he works well as a team leader as well.

Well... it's not hard at all since ZOE was theorized to be the predecessor of NEMO
Its more like Project Aces went back to AC2's remake: Cross Rumble. That game also introduced the concept of Usea states being against Osean presence on their continent.
Also explains what happened to the two ZOEs Scarface didn’t shoot down.
@@MobiusLeader007 I have the remake, honestly, that game is wasted. They gave stupid lines to the characters and didn't talk at all about the relationships between Osea and Usea. It's kinda like if the trailer talks more about it than the game itself, and I'm very confused about Usea's political situation. It was kinda like if the sounther-Usea states were ok about Osea's influence, and all the northern nations were not (to be fair, it would make sense like this since in AC7 Fort Grays has Osean planes, and the ISEV has been built in the southern part of the country)
@@LoScorpioneRosso1 I agree. The political tensions and the fear of Osean influence in Usea are only mentioned in one cinematic and never again. Its possible to play the game and never even see that cinematic as it only plays on the start menu.
I was surprised Project Aces reused the idea for AC7, as they didn't explore it at all in Cross Rumble.
The fact AC7's enemies and a lot of Strangreal's lore were already being planned in the second game is impressive, wonder how much they had planned for Ace Combat at the time

Yeager in AC7 keeps yapping about his son, guess what, his son is Erick Yeager, one of your wingmen in AC3 (the Japanese version at least, which is the canon one), which takes place in 2040, so, this game has ties to AC1, AC2, AC3, AC4 and AC5, talk about wrapping up the lore in one great game.
BTW, if you have the dlc maps, in 2 of them, you battle the Mimic Squadron, which are part of the General Resource Guardian Mercenaries, another connection to AC3.
@@MihzvolWuriar yeah I know that, im sure the last game of the franchise will take place after 3 in a *real* war between UPEO and Gründer. Since NEMO is the final version of Z.O.E. it would be a nice touch to have him as the final boss

Anyway, I think the final battle should be something else, like, Nemo x Z.O.E, but Z.O.E new EWS is interfering with Nemo's ability to fly, and the only way to make him win, is to Sublimate a real consciousness into him (or to battle with him, but I prefer the first idea), so they had to use GRs/Ouroboros tech to win the war, that would tie everything out so great.
After that, Sublimation and military A.Is would be banned from the world.
BTW, another theory of mine, the XFA-36A Game is a mashup of the front of the XFA-33 Fenrir, with the back of the XFA-24A Apalis, the naming, the looks, it all fits.
I don't think Z.O.E. were planned that early on, it was probably conceived as just a rival squadron. 5 and 0 the ones that start dropping hints about the AI. Then Assault Horizon Legacy made it more clear.

They really should have Phoenix cameo in some way in a future title. I see people go nuts over Cipher, Mobius, Blaze, and Trigger, but Phoenix was the OG.

Phoenix was the OG ace, yet surprisingly the most powerful of them all. My dude felled the original Megalith without an army to assist him, cleared the First Continental War by himself in half the time it took Mobius 1 to clear the second, and appeared as a superboss multiple times; Hell, in Joint's Assault's "Ace of Aces" SP mission, he's the final boss, outranking Cipher, Blaze and Mobius 1.

One clarification: The ZOE F-18 encountered over the Skully Islands was identified as a Rebel aircraft, though Cocoon Squadron had no knowledge about it. It's likely that Belka supplied the Rebel leaders with the ZOE aircraft (especially since ZOE General and Commander use the same jamming technique seen in Blind Spot and 8492).
Cocoon 1: "Who's the red avenger? He with the Allied Forces?"
Cocoon Squadron: "Negative. He has the same identification code as us."
Cocoon 1: "Sheesh, I don't need any interruptions."

@@brotherhoodpilot7604 No, Huxian had it right when she said the Mimics were "neither Osean nor Erusean". Mimic Squadron was a General Resource mercenary squadron hired by Clemens to assassinate Trigger to prove that Osea didn't need ace pilots to win the war. Mimic was not actually aligned with either side, they were just hired hitmen. The difference with ZOE is that ZOE *was* aligned with the rebel forces--most of the rebels just didn't know about it.

@@nethascotx24 It’s a better interceptor for being stealthier, faster and capable of carrying larger missiles, but not the plane the US Air Force needed. I have the YF-23 as my favorite plane too, it kinda looks like an ADF from many angles

Which was actually designed by the Yuktobanians as a successor to the Scinfaxi class submarines seen in AC5.
What scares me is that there’s technically two ZOE units out there still. Though maybe those two could have been converted into other drones for Belkas purpose.
Hell, the last two could have actually been converted into Hugin and Munin once they have obtained significant data since I don’t think the Belkans would have enough money spared to make two brand new AI
Hugin and Munin ARE Z.O.E planes. Schroeder, with Gründer and EASA support trained the Z.O.E AI with mihaly flight Data and then the AI got copied some times over the Lighthouse war. The ADFX-10 from mission 10 and then Hugin and Munin, which tried to copy Trigger's flight data. Z.O.E, as we currently have in 2019 following the canon was made using data from 5 different pilots: Trigger, Mihaly, Scarface 1, and guess who!? Cipher and Pixy. The flight data from the Avalon Dam duel was scrapped from the ADFX-02 that Pixy was piloting and then used as a basis for the AI. This AI is still going to be quite important to the series as the future goes on until it becomes NEMO or at least the basis of it like pixy's data was in the past but that's it...all we need to do now is wait for the lore that's coming

@@weregarurumon3202 i don't think mobius one is even involved with Z.O.E and also Gryphus 1 although a very skilled pilot isn't going to be the protagonist of AC8. The plot of AC8 is going to be about A.I, not drones with A.I like in AC7 but the A.I itself. Z.O.E is an AI, Alex, Nemo and Copro (Mihaly's SU-30 A.I) are too. And there's another one from ACX but i forgot the name. It's the system voice that says : "No special weapons fire remaining" "Stalling, increase power" "Special weapons fire running low" A similar A.I to the one in ACX or Copro is also present in AC3 assisting Nemo. There's also a similar thing in AC1 but i don't think it's an A.I, it's more similar to the cockpit voices from Assault Horizon

This is my hypothesis; the Belkans wanted Phoenix to shoot down the ZoE AI's. They could create an AI, but would it be enough to be the ultimate pilot like that Belka needed to rebuild their glorious air force? So they played the Coup. Sent their state of the art drones to them to gather data on the Usean pilots. But it was Phoenix that intrigued the Belkans. So they sent more ZoE drones to see if Phoenix could defeat them. With each drone destroyed, the wealth of data on Phoenix's flight style came in. This was the kind of pilot that matched what they had from the Belkan war. So they sent the Falken, and manipulated the Coup into launching their nuke to complete the Belkan's revenge. But something happened they didn't prepare for. Their drone was defeated again, and the coup was defeated.
This astounded the Engineers at Grunder. Perhaps their drone technology was not ready. So they did what Belkans always do; Patience and technological development while playing the Oseans against the Yuktobanians. The Grey Men needed multiple plans to burn the world in case one failed. Grunder began manipulating many nations. The Erusians, The Oseans, The Yuktobanians, Even the Estovakians. Anyone wonder how a nation so ravaged like Estovakia managed to build Agaion?
Then enter Schroeder and Mihaly Shilage. They tried again.
And even then, the new ZoE type AI had failed.
But then you have something like Nemo coming around in the future. So did the Belkans truly fail in the Lighthouse War or was it part of the plan once again?
@@IvanRodriguez-kl2hz Nemo is the culmination of all that data, probably enough for it to become its own style of Ace. The kind that could win battles and continue to learn until it could defeat human aces easily. But a rogue element became involved, someone who wanted Nemo to fulfil his own ends. Unfortunately, as this scientist's sims had proven, it was impossible for Nemo NOT to achieve those goals.
You forgot to mention Lorenz Reidel who was a belkan defector. Mentioned in the Assault Records of AC0 and AC6

I think this is one of the reasons of why Scareface 1 is one of the most skilled pilots protagonist of all series, he not only faced the best pilots that USEA had on it's time during the coup d’etat, he also shot down Z.O.E who basically was learning how to kill him in every battle.
Kind of like a mix betwen Trigger and Cipher if you think about it.
I really wish that PA could do a propper remake of AC 2, Z.O.E and Phoenix deserves a propper entry in the consoles. Imagine facing the ADF-01 Z.O.E that has the same attack pattern of Hugin and Munin plus the ECM abilities from both Scream and Rage, not to mention all the elite Usean squadrons.
And for the love of god PA, Phoenix uses the Su-35, we allready have a bunch of protagonists using the damn F-22 >->
I wonder how Phoenix fares against Nemo, though? That guy one-upped all known iterations of ZOE in terms of piloting proficiency (and quite possibly in sentience).

Thanks for that. I wasn't even born when Phoenix was around. Got my wings in 2007 with Wardog Squadron and since I took down Hughin and Munin this acronym, ZOE, kept popping up in my radar and I've been tracking it since last week.

Nah I reckon they should carry from the events of AC7 because let's say a malignant piece of code from the AI onboard ADF-11F was able to back up and preserve it self so that it only finds it self only seeking to never stop until it has hunted down Trigger. But besides that the AI is able to manipulate and control aircraft from one plane. Now I call that Ace Combat 8: Boundless

it would be cool if ZOE appears in AC8 and actually learns from the player and how they move so they can fly like you or combat you in later missions though that would mean you have to make a real AI to do that

I actually prefer the garbled static. It’s a lot more inhuman. You hear something speak? It sounds like an opponent that may be reasoned with. Garbled static? Nope. It’s either you or it.

Imagine an Ace Combat 8 final boss aircraft that flies backwards, cuts PSMs midway through and starts another one immediately, EML snipes you at ranges you are not supposed to fire an EML from, etc.

So... Nemo can be considered as a success? It's the legacy of ZOE after all...
But the whole story of AC3 is a simulation, so AC8 is gonna be the real version of 2040 events? Or is it gonna be the prelude to the fall of nations and the rise of the corporations?
Nemo's role was to kill the electrosphere version of Abyssal Dision, since he was sublimated and his body was already dead. The only remaining place he could exist was the electrosphere and that's where you go to kill him in AC3. When Nemo finished his mission Simon released him into the real world so he could use what he learned at the electrosphere and use it to create his own future. Regarding the year, if I'm not wrong the simulations happen in 2040 or 2045 but the real world was in the late 2020's and early 2030's. Also we can only theorize that AC8 is the start of a corporate war as we had GR influence in AC7's DLC missions

@@Rizkyace118 Mimic squadron's affiliation is GRGM (General Resources Guardian Mercenaries) and they're based on Port Edwards, a GR base in AC3 and also the Alicorn's Barrier drones, which the lore writer, Sunao Katabuchi confirmed it's a GR design. Also why do you think GR made these drones for the submarine anyways? They wanted the submarine for themselves and Clemens was working for GR to make it happen and also try to kill trigger. GR has officially debuted in it's full strength as a PMC in the DLC and it means things are gonna get crazy in the near future (also GR was involved in AC6 as well since they supplied the stovies but that's a minor detail)
And the culmination of Z.O.E was NEMO. An AI who could fly and think just as well as any of the legendary Aces.
Ace 8 should be a remake of 3 and have you play as NEMO

I take it all this is taken from the AC2 remake? While I can understand Assault Horizon Legacy being the canon version of the story, the original will always be the ture version of it to me, due to nostalgia alone.

Yes, because most of us are sick and tired of seeing Raptors as the mascot planes. He's the only Strangereal protagonist whose signature plane is a Sukhoi.

@@varnix1006 Nemo flies multiple aircrafts in his simulation, they all starts with the Typhoon II and ends in a different aircraft, XFA-36, SU-43, R-103 and XR-900. All routes are canon, so he flies every aircraft.

Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble features a bonus SP mission with two different fights in the final battle. At first, Phoenix wins the Dogfight with a ZOE Falken that uses all the features specified in the video, then after the destruction of Fortress Intolerance, instead of getting out from the ICBM hole, he has to turn back and exit from the entrance. Unless you're using the Hellcat or ZERO, this is one of the most difficult boss fights in the franchise, beaten only by Scarface 1 himself in Ace difficulty Operation X.

This is definitely why Ace Combat 2 will always be one of my favorite games in the series, because it's the first game where you actually get to fight Belkan proxies (the Usean rebels being one of those proxies). The Z.O.E. fights are a true highlight of the game.

Whenever I see ZOE I think Zone of the Enders. And with how the fictional aircrafts in AC look and how everything is pointing at the stars with the latest installment I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing something like orbital frames in the future. Different company, I know, but still.
If it gets to that point, they might have to replace most of the planes we all know with completely new and original stuff. I'm not sure everyone would enjoy that.

That’s why they had to learn from Mister X in AC7, they needed more experience from observing a skilled pilot to be as effective as their lost brethren. Mixed with their advanced aircraft 20 years newer, and these two that were once the weakest became the strongest. Project Aces has an AMAZING writing team!

AC2 was actually de-canonized. Most of the stuff in this video is based off the 3DS remake wich does mention the other countries.
@@meteorsr2339 i don't consider the original AC2 non Canon. And i don't consider the remake 100% canon either. Some stuff i don't like in the remake, like the Ace squadrons and keynote talking instead of Phoenix, cuz in the original AC2 Phoenix used to talk.

Lamperouge Zone yes that is true but it wasn’t used to make Z.O.E. The flight data was used to see the weaknesses of the Morgan (their very first ADF fighter). That data would be used to help make the ADF-01 FALKEN.

Nicola Ocello yes their reasoning is that community contributions is used 0.001% of the time so they decided to take it off which I don’t blame them. If a service is not being used then why have it. However it does make it a problem for people who do want to use it and reach a larger audience. To work around this I am going to have people translate my scripts in discord

Interesting thing to note, the name Zoe means Life which makes sense cause Z.O.E.s are basically alive. I only know this cause my gf’s name is Zoe.
