Cipher did indeed committed war crimes. Part of the reason why Pixy hated him. Ace Combat Zero is a super morally grey Ace Combat game, which is one of the reason why it’s so great. The only reason Cipher’s crimes were ignored was because well, Osea and they were the victor, which is “justice”.
I mean this is just geopolitics. Osea recognizes it faces 3 potential existential threats. 1. Yuktobania: the only true rival to Osea in terms of resources. 2. Yuktobania: wage a cold war and then later co-opt them into maintaining a G2 World Order where Osea and Yuktobania both have a vested interest in maintaining the global order in order to prevent the rise of new challengers to their shared hegemony. 2. Belka: Take advantage of Osea's economic strength to drive Belka to financial ruin with an arms race and use this crisis to weaken Belka and take the border regions that give Osea access to resources and a good defensive buffer. Ultimate goal is knock Belka from Great Power Status. 3. Erusea(unified Usea): Become involved in internal Usean politics and make security agreements to keep Usea divided (Usean Rebellion), support the ISAF forces with material support in the Continental War(how do you think Mobius 1 went from F-4E to F-22A), and finally send Osean troops as part of the IUN-PKF to keep Erusea down and make sure they can't take over all of Usea.
Osea was neutral during the continental war (and about 2/3 were Harling's presidency). Are the ISAF gets support from the Oseans, Acepedia didn't say anything about it-and like SlyCooperFan1 said, ISAF isn't Osea's payroll. Also, for (possible issue(you can skip this one out) ) the ISEV, it was to restore Erusea post-apocalyptic situation (even though they didn't believe this and think Osea wanted to exploit their resources-similar to what Osean did to Belka)
Oseans kept repairing the lasting Stonehenge turret expecting Arsenal Birds would get stolen or for them to have air superiority on a foreign continent? :)
Amazing how we were led to believe that Osea is one of those peaceful superpowers that cannot do anything wrong in AC5, but then AC0 and AC7 blow that idea straight out of the water. It's a real nice shift of perspective. What you think you're fighting for could be completely wrong. In war, no one wins.
Briar Mason I mean, AC5 showed you Osea’s true colors. Wardog squadron was blamed for the bombings on schools on Yuktobania, while also making the whole country turn against Sand Island squadron later on the game because some general almost murdered them.
outside using cons as pilots what about 7 said osea wasn't peaceful? The whole lighthouse war started because a dumb eursa princess let herself get worked up by a belken spy to start a war with osea while completely ignoring hardlings intentions of the space elevators
That’s right they did nothing wrong! ... Besides having poor budgeting skills throughout the 1980’s. And buying all of those super weapons like Excalibur, V2 from Project Pendragon, ADFX-01 & ADFX-02 Morgan, and XB-0. And chemical laser weaponry.
But Osea started the war. Of course I canto approce the 8492 Squadron cationes at the Endnof Ace Combat 5. But I cannot approve Osea's arrogance against the Balkan people
Principality of Bella, my question to you is (please answer it on your comments and thanks): Does The Principality of Belka Recognizes The Republic of China (Taiwan) diplomatically and officially ?
Since your character's nationality is never given I always pretend I am a Belkan. The Knight's blood flows through my veins, how else am I such a master Pilot? That's why Cipher won the Belkan war for the Allies. The only one that can stop a Belkan, is another Belkan.
@@DokturProfesur I support this theory that Cipher is Belkan. Furthermore Pixy was revealed to be Belkan. That is why Cipher and Pixy were an unstoppable force. It makes their friendship and brotherhood even somewhat tragic when they had to fight each other in the end :( [This is my opinion though :)]
"Osea poked the bear too much" Yet they trying to make it look like the bear were potential danger and make themselves rightfully to strike back the bear
It's hilarious that the nation which employs penal battalions/squadrons to do its fighting is painted in such a positive light throughout the games despite its actions.
Every country IRL used penal units up until recently. The reason we've stopped isn't for ethical concerns, but because there hasn't been a conflict big enough to warrant their use.
@@cybersilver5816 The US didn't use penal units during the first or second world wars. Were those "not big enough"? No, the reason people stopped using them is because having ill-disciplined, antagonistic soldiers who actively hate the government they're serving isn't exactly a wonderful combination for ensuring the fighting effectiveness of the unit. You can see this when a lot of the penal unit soldiers of the Nazi regime actively deserted INTO RESISTANCE MOVEMENTS. Not just leaving their post, but actively working against the country that gave them weapons to begin with.
Which was a very, very stupid thing to do on Osea's part. Imagine handing a multi-million dollar fighter jet with ammo and ordnance to a disgruntled fighter pilot who hates you and your country. AC7 implies unit 444 mutinied on Tyler island.
This really makes me wish that in AC8 we'll play as a Belkan pilot, flying a non-NATO made plane (canonically). Would also be cool if we get to command a squad of 3 COFFIN UAVs (to compensate for Belka's loss of pilots). The cherry on top is if the plot is about reunifying South Belka into the mainland (and if Pixy shows up as a mentor figure, that'll be a perfect 10/10 from me).
President Irina Vladimirovna Putina This right here. It’s funny how many wars occur in Strangereal, yet there aren’t any records showing a full-scale world war (afaik). That’d be awesome to see, especially how it will all end up and connect with Ace Combat 3. Maybe all the countries were exhausted of all recources and/or manpower and companies ended up taking over?
Now that. think about it... maybe Belka keeps indirectly building this futuristic weapons because other countries keep guilt-tripping Belkan scientists into it 🤔🤔
Wow, this has to be one of your best videos, ACF. :o I gotta admit that, since I played AC5 years ago, then Zero and 04, I did not pay such an attention to details regarding "the Belkan side" of the conflicts (guess I was brainwashed by OBC as well.) You've just cleaned up the dust from my memories regarding the good Belkan actions and you've also opened up my eyes to really understand that Osea is not the so-called righteous country it claims to be. Wow. *Mindblow.*
I want the next ace combat to take place on the Verusan continent and play as a Yuke pilot. It's the only Strangereal continent we never really fully explored. I want to know what type of country Sotoa is.

That was literally the one chance for them to get on better terms, and they screwed it up, its better to have a allied frenemy than an enemy that will forever remember what you did to them til death
I don't get to understand everything in the video but the reasons that Ace Combat Fan said of Belka detonated 7 nuclear warhead to it's own soils already making me believe that Belka is innocent and try to protect it's citizens.
That's not what Pixy believed at all. He didn't see it as Belka=Good, Osea=Bad, he saw the Belkans and Oseans squabbling and throwing away lives over territory, and wanted to get rid of nations to destroy the corruption.
I first played AC5 2 months after it’s release on PS2. Following that I fell into ACZ. In both games I drew the ever growing opinion that Belka was the aggressor, the cancer. But as I’ve watched several videos across many channels, this one sets in stone that, not using the meme just to use it, Belka did nothing wrong. I find it absolutely crazy how much the lore gets picked apart and instead it destroys your first impressions (Belka invaded Ustio unjustly) and you start to see logic behind the arguments like as this gentleman just said. OBN would indeed alter the report to cast a guilty shadow over Belka and it’s been proven in this video. I’m off to download Project Ulysses for HOI4 and take back what’s ours. #BelkaFirst
"Instead of outright killing President Harling, they gave him an all-inclusive trip to Stier Castle, one that he could not refuse." Ahahahahahaha, you can even hear ACF having trouble keeping the laughter from his voice. This video was really good. It kind of reminded me of SlyCooperFan1's Everything Wrong With Ace Combat series in tone and style.

Here's the thing, and spoilers: The former president that Trigger accidentally shot down thanks to Erusea's (and Belka's) IFF spoofing tech is Osean, and he just wanted to actually do something positive. Whatever happened after his administration was done is up for debate.

This is why I love Belka. Such a proud country going up against indiscriminate odds. It really is the underdog in this story. I really hope we see a future Ace Combat where the Oseans are the Bad guys. Maybe Strangereal Skynet or some other machine revolution go off at the same time. Or how about an Emmerian led coalition against the tyrant. Ps. Osea is the Only country to have kicked thw Asses of both Major Powers Belka and Erusea and the Superpower Yuktobania , that means any fight against them would have to make the other smaller countries gang up on it. @@LunaPPK But it is implied that Osea was helping them during both the first and second Usean Continental Wars. Heck the first one began because of Osea expanding its influence. And the help was akin to the US providing lend lease and stuff during WW2
Belkan, but with a plot twist of this Belkan being a Harling sympathizer and fighting against a post-Harling Osea, which took a deep dive in a corruption and, basically, abandoned everything Harling stood for (which isn't so far-fetched, with how they were planning to kill Trigger the second he's no longer needed, not to mention the penal squadrons). while most of this is true, the 8492/229th had not only direct ties to the Belkan military structure, but to the Belkan government itself through the OADF aggressor program. Grabacr was formed almost entirely of former South Belkans who resented partnership with Osea, and the Belkan government chose to submit them to the program despite their very open disdain for Osea, with the knowledge that the grey men were already an existential threat to peaceful relations with their much larger neighbor, and not releasing such information at any point in the conflict to them.
The Grey Men were secret very few people in the Belkan Government were even aware of the existence of them. Also those squadrons were taken from Belka by the winners in 1996 after the reformation of the air force so they were never part of the new belkan military for any real length of time. If the two super powers were stupid enough to take pilots that were obvious in their anger towards them they have no one to blame but themselves. Those squadrons also were not just made up of Belkans they had natives of the two nations be cycled through them and part of the squadrons for long periods of time.
I have 2 of 4 words: #MakeBelkaGreatAgain! #BelkaDidNothingWrong Even though that Belkan(s) are looks evil, but its actually Osea, however, some Belkan(s) are evil too, but #NotAllBelkans are evil, and maybe whose dislike the video, they are Osean for anyways... XDDD
These videos you make exploring the lore of Strangereal are always fascinating. One thing I've always wondered about is the connection between Fortress Intolerance and Megalith. All the Ace Combat maps after 04 always show the Megalith ruins on Twinkle Islands but omit Fortress Intolerance in North Point. Considering they both share extremely similar designs, it's very likely that they were built from an external source for both nations. However, ISAF claimed Megalith was something the Eruseans developed (propaganda maybe?). We know that Yuktobania essentially copied the Dragonet-class submarines from AC2, so if Erusea did develop Megalith themselves, how did they get the design of Fortress Intolerance from North Point?
Fortress Intolerance was probably wiped off the map since it was located in a country as important as North Point, whereas Megalith is situated on a remote island. But, you know, the real reason is that Fortress Intolerance wasn't needed on the AC5 map, which AC7 just copied. :P But yes, Erusea constructed Megalith as a weapon of mass destruction.
I'm pretty sure Fortress Intolerance was built by the very militaristic generals of the FCU and the other Usean states, who launched a coup. By the time of AC4, the guys responsible for Fortress Intolerance had all probably been locked up for years, or executed for treason.
For a country that small, Belka sure did shook the strangereal world multiple times and it’s still shaking. Not surprised that Pixy was a Belkan...the greatest wingman ever lived in Strangreal.
I've got to say, that was a very well put together argument with a lot of details and history. Though, I can't say Belka didn't do anything wrong at all. War in itself or the use of nukes are inherently wrong, but this at least casts a light that many of Belka's actions were at least justified. Saying that one entity's actions are not wrong because the other's were worse or more numerous is a fallacy. History is never black and white, but an endlessly complex and tangled mass.
This. Exactly this. Belka's point of view on things is one side of the story, and it just furthers the entire anti-war message of the Ace Combat franchise as a whole. The fact that all of this has to be explained, and all of this is still just one side, _and_ this all still involves so many civilian and military casualties, is exactly what these games are trying to do: inform us of the horrors of war. "History belongs to the victor," after all.
I’ve only recently gotten into the Ace Combat lore to help myself understand AC7. And holy shit I’ve been really mislead. Like I knew strangereal was supposed to be more morally grey and whatnot, but I’ve been fed so many OBC lies. I came for the memes/a little more lore understanding, but damn Osea really is the bad guy of the Belkan war and not so righteous in many others. Great video. Also I fucking died at Belkan Robins ice cream
If Belka had just invaded Ustio, Recta, and Gebet; they would have won both the war and world opinion. They could have fought a defensive war against Osea and Sapin and Yuktobania would have stayed out.
In reguards to removing humans from a battlefield being a good thing yes, yes it is...in the short run. The problem briefly gone over in AC7 is that makes war seem more palatable, easier, cleaner, and that isn't a good thing. Because war shouldn't be easy to declare and war is never clean
Caraca...agora entendi tudo! Obrigado, Ace combat Fan! Eu nunca parei para analisar nada então sempre pensei que eles fossem os vilões porém Osea é a verdadeira vilã disso tudo #BelkaDidNothingWrong
Always wondered why anyone thought Belka was in the wrong....I never dug deep into the lore, but starting from the first Ace Combat game I ever played, Ace Combat 5, I immediately noticed that surrounding nations seemed to have it out for Belka. Personally, I'd side with the Grey Men and any other partisan movements to save/restore my country if I was Belkan, just like I would IRL for the my home in the USA. #RedDawn

Damn this is so interesting to read, well done bud
This is a great explanation.
Accurate analysis

You can see this when a lot of the penal unit soldiers of the Nazi regime actively deserted INTO RESISTANCE MOVEMENTS. while most of this is true, the 8492/229th had not only direct ties to the Belkan military structure, but to the Belkan government itself through the OADF aggressor program.
WHO IS THIS 8492CHAN GUY?

So did the "falcons of dawn" mentioned in the assault records of ace combat zero become the greymen?
