Blimey Adam your working overtime with these videos. I have seen quite a few comparison vids on the new bit rates and can honestly say I can't see a lot of difference if I'm being honest.
Another good one. I think the high bitrate difference is only going to be noticeable when you're going fast and there is a lot of detailed information like in the trees or road/gravel that would get crushed in a lower bitrate. Personally, I think having jitterless footage is way more important than having smooth motion blur when you're doing vlogs or walking videos. I'd probably let shutter go to auto with the minimum set to quadruple. For an action cam, I might even skip out on the ND. Maybe--I'll have to do my own tests. For the pocket 3, they are more necessary since you have that gimbal already and can use a lower shutter speed. Although using a gimbal with the action cam is better, I think I'd rather just grab the pocket 3 instead if I felt like I'd want to get good motion blur. I may skip ND's entirely with action cams. Even on the Pocket 3, the benefits barely outweigh the drawbacks.
Hey Tim, love your insights into this! The Pocket 3 certainly is the better overall camera over the Action 5 Pro. I just like testing out the camera to see what it can be pushed to. In cases of inclement weather, I like to know what the Action 5 can do if my Pocket is not able to be used. Looking forward to to your thoughts on the Ace Pro 2!
@@TravelingAhn I agree. I was thinking about that when I wrote it that I really appreciate your enthusiasm to take the gear out and test it in various different scenarios and also to resist not taking your best camera out in the process. For me, I'll shoot a couple comparisons and come to my own conclusions and then I have a hard time shooting unless I know it's the best camera I have for the job, which isn't good for content. 😎
@Fishycomics mentioned the C-type door was loose. It opens when you push it without pressing the button. The same thing happened on my dji 5. Do you also have such a problem? I wanted to ask if it could be a chronic problem.
@@TravelingAhn not just Your video bro… I just been looking for the action Camera to buy and I don’t know which one to get between? Dji 5 and ACE pro 2 but I saw a lot of video about the DJI. Somehow they got the image was flicking on top.
It’s hard to tell the difference in the nitrates, when youtube compresses the heck out videos uploaded to their platform. Raw footage off the camera looked good to me.
Great comparison video! Did you notice any significant battery drain increase? I wanna buy Osmo Action 5 Pro and use it for diving purposes. Do you think the battery would last like 4 hours if i tuned camera off after each shot?
I haven't run any tests to see the battery drain increase. But if your record with screen off that would certainly help it. Although, I wouldn't expect 4 hours even if shot in standard bitrate. Bit rest assured, it is the best regarding batttery drain than GoPro and Insta360.
I had mine recording continuously until the battery died. With the screen on sleep mode, I got roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes of record time on 4k30p, as opposed to roughly 4 hours prior to the firmware update, which I don’t mind at all. I’m assuming if you plan on turning the camera on and off I think you’d be able to have it last 3 hours 👍🏼
@@markosaucedo Thanks for the answer! Yeah i'm like recording for 2 minutes and then turning it off and repeating the process when needed 😎 My GoPro Hero 7 Black can last about 2h of doing this so i believe Osmo 5 Pro will do double that!
I absolutely hate the normal color profile of the Action 5. The Action 4 looks so much better without all the vibrant colors. I was using D-log M and then the DJI A5 lut in post and the footage looked great until the firmware update. Now even after using D-log and the DJI lut the colors are now slightly over exposed requiring more correction in post and it's a hassle I don't want. The bit rate increase does nothing for the videos I make (motocross an motovlog) that I can tell and it should because they are high speed activities. For now I will use my Action 4 and hope DJI can improve the A5 colors so I can turn the HDR effect off. I feel so much effort has been put into low light that regular daytime footage now suffers. I don't care about low light performance.
Point well taken. I didn't catch the subtle differences after the firmware update regarding D-Log. Your use case is what the Action camera is technically made for so interesting perspective you have. Thanks for the comments and hopefully they will offer HDR effect off option!
I think the lipstick comment has more to do with the vibrant colors of the A5. Once you notice the pastel colors you can't stop noticing them and it becomes very annoying. Nice videos by the way!
Yeah, that's more my fault...I don't quite have the eye for color-grading. I basically use "Auto-Enhance" with a FCP after applying the DJI Lut and then tweak a little after.
