    As of today the boat's rudder seal is still leaking a tiny bit but the engineer say that it should stop after awhile. We finished this job the second time about 4 weeks ago. The Hinckley Volvo Penta engine job is all fix and the owner is ecstatic since he now has his boat back after 6-7 months.

      Rudder lip seals are a joke,
      I have seen brand new boats with literally 2 hours in the water leak.
      They are a sales tool for the broker nothing more.

    For me personally….
    1. You are providing a service and warranty is always billed to the customers account until approved by the manufacturer. Customer should be made aware of this before starting work.
    2. Service Provider should not be held responsible for operational, design, part, failure to properly maintain or repair previously, acts of god, acts of natural. They just provide labor, knowledge, and wisdom…
    3. Lack of planning on customer’s part is not an emergency for the mechanic (normally). Please call them asap when you know /think you have an issue.
    Love your videos, work ethic, and way you treat your employees and customers.

      I have been at this marine diesel repair job starting out as a helper in summer of '85 as an 18 year old kid straight off the farm in the midwest, and been in Florida and Georgia coast since. I do not care what brand enginve it is, I have heard "I'll never buy another one of these!" before. They will all break! Seen Cats with ventilated blocks, MAN's scattered in pieces, Detroits spewing oil, Yanmars neglected and a ball of corrosion, Cummins destroyed because a gauge didn't work and getting the gauges fixed was "expensive" Not as expensive as a longblock, the boat being hauled, disassembled, the engine pulled, the parts switched over, need I go on? LOL pay me now, or pay me later!

  • @Stonehands75
    @Stonehands75 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Awesome as always
    As long as you were doing what the builder and parts manufacturer say I don’t see where you are in the wrong. Sometimes a little thick skin and conversation (but has to be face to face) with the customer goes a long ways. I have been at the dealership I work at now for 26 years and I get some of the same things. IE we just did a repower and the customer had 2 gas tanks each 12 gallon. We put the engine on did the PDI I have my 5 minutes of run time and a full G3 report we keep and customer gets 1 they take delivery load up the party on his pontoon and take it out use it for about 30 minutes switch his gas tanks and then engine stops running long story short he kills both batteries trying to start the engine towed in and screaming at us we go out and find the second tanks is 90%water and all he can say is warranty or he stops payment on his check. The owner will not come in and talk face to face all they want to do is puff their chest and email as I told him yelling and profanity on the phone I will not tolerate
    So no I don’t think you’re in the wrong or to blame
    Keep the videos coming

    It can be such a piece meal industry sometimes and becomes extremely frustrating for a shop owner. Manufactures of shitty products will seldom accept responsibility for their poor designs. Owners of the boats just don't want any hassles (understandably) and that leaves you standing in the middle. I thought it was just me !
